  1. UND counts the all time series record as 136-143-16 .488 (the difference is a few games in the 1930's vs a UND club team (maybe even a frat team? predates me) GF-GA amazingly 1008-1005 https://fightinghawks.com/documents/2025/10/1/2025-26_UND_Hockey_Media_Guide.pdf
  2. Anyone have Zakreski leading the team in plus/minus after week 1? No more doubts about whether our CHLers are ready.
  3. Kudos to Omaha for upgrading the broadcast. It’s now watchable. With replays even.
  4. That 97-98 team is top candidate for Best UND Team Not to Win the NCAA. i don’t recall the outdoor locker room part… wouldn’t put it past them since there were two Elite Eight games there that day.
  5. Before 1983, the UND-UW vibe was nearly as bitter rivals as vs the Gophers. After the disppointment of losing to UW in the 1983 playoffs, UND fans supported UW at the 1983 Frozen Four in Grand Forks (instead of Gophers), including ticket exchanges in town to get tickets to Badger fans and not Gopher fans. I went to the Dane in fall 1983, and the PA guy even welcomed the visiting fans "who cheered for us last spring". Big shift in vibes, and very quickly. Ever since then its "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". They struggled by hiring only Badger alumni as head coaches for a long time. Hiring Hastings was a fascinating decision.
  6. The last games in GF were Feb 22/23, 1980. Memorable because the win Friday clinched the WCHA title. Along with the "Miracle on Ice" (which we watched on CBC in the dorm before going to the Sioux game), led the GF Herald to headline Saturday's paper "Hockey Heaven". And on Saturday, we got Kermit the Frog mascot back from Michigan. The last regular season games at Yost were next season 80-81. Why hasn't Michigan been back? First, they left the WCHA to play in the CCHA cupcake league (aka bus league) after the 80-81 season, which led to nasty, unpleasant splits out West. Then, a long stretch of years where there were very few nonconference games (28 conference in a 34 game season), left small to no chance until the NCHC formed. (Switching to 24 game conference season was a big reason for the collapse of the WCHA.) The last reason they haven't been back, I think, is money (haven't seen that mentioned). They want ⅔ of nonconference games to be at home, we do too.
  7. Credit the O-line making that first drive look easy.
  8. Been to Gutterson in Burlington VT. Quite reminiscent of the original Winter Sports Building at UND. Go in October. The fall colors are spectacular.
  9. Denver scores with 4 minutes left… long review for crease violation
  10. Latcozy’s mom was counting?
  11. NCHC 6-0 so far tonight… run the table guys!
  12. So far, a great night for the NCHC. fingers crossed...
  13. Same here. Using Roku. Makes me think this is on their end not ours.
  14. 2-1 Ferris leading Western after 2. Hobey Hedquist stifling the Champs.
  15. 530 and 800 cdt, it appears https://www.collegehockeynews.com/schedules/scoreboard.php?rf=2&rtz=0&sd=20251009 I'll probably watch Western Michigan. Should be a party at Lawson.
  16. Definitely let everyone in. Its 140 degrees warmer than when we stood in line. Don't know how people can live there (Phoenix).
  17. Milestone? Graham Sward, who played 47 games in the ECHL last year, scores for the Q. First pro player to score in NCAA?
  18. Like Minnesota, BC has never had good Canadian connections. While Quinnipiac has 6 CHL'ers on their roster. Another early test of what the impact of CHLers will look like.
  19. Mercyhurst College would be the weakest financial condition (Endowment $31 mm), and a smallish student body (2700 undergrads). Then perhaps Niagara and Sacred Heart. My $.02
  20. Dang! I was hoping we'd see Boomer Sooner!
  21. Standard draft logic also says: "Draft the UND guy before the Penn State guy."

    R1 Status

Two big things come to mind right away. (1) Recruiting. (2) Breadth of clinical opportunities for specialist paths (surgeon, etc). I'm a bit surprised it didn't happen earlier..
  23. Did St Cloud State leave the conference and I missed it? (Fingers crossed....)
  24. This seems like a return to Hakstol - Blais era style of play.
  25. The guy is a fourth round draft pick. Must have some skill more than just hustle. His tenacity - combined with skills - sounds more like a top 6 guy (if not right away, by year 2).
