  1. To my (non-expert) eyes, Blake's neutral zone play, post-New Year, has gotten much more consistent: safer with the puck, while maintaining use of speed and hands to disrupt opponents. Same for defensive zone play.
  2. Thanks for correcting me.
  3. Nothing here ever gets exaggerated.
  4. With 5 NCHC teams in the field - which would be cool if it happens - the committee could and probably would accept first round matchups between NCHC teams. In the above scenario, Sioux Falls would be (could be) UND vs UNO and UMtc vs CC.
  5. Home teams were 8-0 this last weekend of regular season, so I predict that pattern to continue.
  6. https://www.collegehockeynews.com/box/metrics.php?gd=96869 UND 11, ONO 9.
  7. I agree on matchups. UNO plays an "old-fashioned" Dean Blais style of high pressure (watch how many times three forwards are deep in the attack zone), which can result in a lot of "riding time". We didn't adapt as well last night as in previous games vs UNO. Holding them to 3 goals was fine, but if we're going to win tonight I think we need to score our "normal" 4. (Last night we had a lot of chances late to tie it but couldn't convert.)
  8. Playing Omaha is good prep for the NCAA's. The best teams will have seen how to beat UND (see the CC and Omaha games on video) and its important we react. Better puck support, and guys transitioning to be ready quickly to be a target for receiving passes from a teammate that's under hard pressure.
  9. NCAA tournament on line 2. They've won fewer games since 2017 than UND.
  10. Final score in Providence, BU wins 4-2. Providence drops from 10 to 13 in PWR. Crazy tight on and near the bubble.
  11. Providence 2-2 BU, middle of third period. Big PWR implications for both teams. Game on ESPN plus or NESN.
  12. Definitely some bone structure similarities, but nobody- and I mean nobody - has ever matched the intensity of Eades glare - I’m going to flatten you then score and keep doing it all game.
  13. (I don’t know the broader answer, but) they have a large MBA program, with lots of high paid alumni in the senior ranks of twin cities corporations. $$$$
  14. Count me as another at The Joe for a rout. Parity in 2024 is much tighter than 1987. although …. Hrkac may still pass the puck to himself off the back of net and head the other way after the forechecked passed. PS almost erased the bitter taste of watching the Sioux lose on a fluky goal in 1979 at the Olympia. One positive of that trip was seeing one of hockeys great old barns before it went down.
  15. During February of 2007, Duncan had a streak where he scored 14 goals on 28 shots. If there’s ever been a better streak, I’d be shocked.
  16. The REA with an announcement tomorrow 9am. https://twitter.com/TheREA/status/1761797453672775714 50/50 odds on indoor football?
  17. Re penalties tonight: * Happy - and a bit amazed that UND gave them only 1 PP. UMD working hard to goad guys into penalties, and we kept our composure well. * Surprised that nothing was called at 20:00 of the 3rd. UMD (Menghini?) should have gotten a couple minors and misconducts for hitting after the whistle. Not to mention all the other garbage. * Very happy that the facemasking major got called. (Without us needing to formally ask for a review.) That was hideous and dangerous. Hoping for supplementary discipline, but not really expecting it.
  18. Pairwise #14 vs #18 or so ... just by playing the game, both team's RPI will have risen slightly. Otherwise, "meh". In a one-and-done format, CC is the toughest out, with the conference's best goaltender, by a country mile. Mbereko stole a point tonight. SOG 19-42 favoring UNO.
  19. Yeah, near term. Longer term we play both 4 times in regular season, so it’s a wash.
  20. PK did an excellent job leaving him covered. Helps that we only gave them 2 pp.
  21. Assist of the year candidate.
  22. Not the same since Jason Herter left…
  23. CC now with the string of games not losing in regulation. 10 games and counting. yes CC is good. And both nights, while the game was close, they got some puck luck.
  24. Bound to happen once every 75 years or so. Just wish it wasn’t this year.
