  1. Last season, Persson held SCSU to 3 and 1 goals at the National Concrete Center. Prior to that, 27 GA in 4 games for a charming 6.50 GAA. I have every reason to expect the stone wall version of Persson to show up, especially with UND defenders in front of him. In any case, he has a lot of experience on the big ice. Keys to the weekend: (1) stay healthy (2) backcheck and track hard from the center line back to our own goal, where Omaha gave us troubles last week (3) stay out of the penalty box, especially period 2 on the long change.
  2. Fair assessment ... noting also that our Strength of Schedule is very high, which bumps our RPI compared to other teams in that 20 win range.
  3. That's amazing! Every time Denver is trailing at home, somehow there's a major or a couple extra powerplays called on the opponent, at least until Denver is back to tied or ahead.
  4. Tip of the combat helmet for the Kelly's Heroes reference.
  5. Nice team effort in P1. 18 of 19 skaters with at least one shot attempt.
  6. Well, he's accustomed to coaching players that are older than NHL, so there's that... wonder if his UW contract has an out for NHL job?
  7. I heard Mayville State applied to the Summit League, just for Women's BB.
  8. I'm sure there's some fascinating conversations at BC right now ...
  9. Yeah, we play CC 4 times vs MN 2. And the opponents opponents winning percentage benefits too. Bottom line - root for your conference mates.
  10. Ken Landau, voice of CC Tigers radio: "Little 6 officials seem to have vision issues."
  11. Means our 6th ranked PK (86.4%) is getting hardly any work. Not that that's a bad thing. Conclusion: excellent team speed and generally sound play in our own zone lead to fewer penalties.
  12. Statistic of the day: Through 20 games, UND defenders have taken 34 PIM, or just 1.7 PIM/Game. That's as low as I can remember. UND forwards: 106 PIM, or 5.3 PIM/game. Yes, the penalty leaders include a couple of our top skill guys.
  13. ASU tops UNO in OT at Mullett. 2-1 Smart puck management on the game winner - puck carrier pulls out of the zone, and UNO fails to cover the guy changing lines, resulting in breakaway and GWG. Trivia: Since going D-1, ASU hasn't lost a home OT game (Oceanside or Mullet).
  14. Maradona didn't have replay to catch his.
  15. Perfect here but … for the first two minutes of the pp, I’d rather a much grainier feed. Ugh
  16. Western Michigan at Lindenwood 2-0 after 1 Link to video: https://lindenwoodlions.com/sports/2022/10/6/video-streaming
  17. Yes, UW won. (Very well played road win in South Bend). Sorry if I used a double negative to express that.
  18. In addition to UND's win last night, our strength of schedule had a nice night, as everyone in-conference won (Denver, Western Michigan Omaha in OT), and none of non-conference opponents lost (Wisconsin W, Bemidji W, MSU-Mankato tied at Augie).
  19. More teachable moments than just about any “W” I can remember. Overall, loved the compete the last 45 minutes, but lots of room to improve.
  20. St Thomas' rink is scheduled to be up and running by then ...
  21. Yes, one aspect of starting from scratch is no need to be loyal to club-era players.
  22. Augie with a nice effort at Notre D. Credited with an OT loss that was almost a regulation loss. Regulation ends, then ND challenges for a major, which occurred with 17 seconds left. They win the call, and were about to reset the clock back to 17 left in regulation, when someone (who knows the rules) said no you don't. So OT was going to be 4x3 for 5 minutes, when ND scored to win. But Augie skate well, play good positional D, and Garrett Raboin has enough connections to get them off the ground sooner, and maybe ramp faster to competitiveness than St Thomas with Rico (who bombed out of Miami).
  23. Could have made a lot of money back in May with that bet.
  24. https://www.uppermichiganssource.com/2023/12/28/how-watch-great-lakes-invitational-featuring-michigan-tech-hockey/ For those wishing to scout Alaska (Fairbanks), or just wanting free hockey.
  25. The CHN bracket has three eastern teams get regional #1 seeds. If so, that would be the first time ever, I believe, with only 1 western team getting a regional #1 seed.
