https://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/playerMoves/ Sort by Old Team and you'll more easily find the UND guys ...

Chase Cheslock at #154. St Thomas first recruit to get drafted?
-
And soon after, Strathman to Columbus at #98.
-
Jayden Perron to Carolina at #94. Seems likely that they give him time to develop, which I like.

Will the replacement building for Walsh have refrigerated floors on the lowest level? Legends talk of freezing the lowest level of Walsh by opening all the windows in the dead of winter. Whether true or not, it’s an excellent tale that fits into the spirit of Walsh Hall.

Sending best wishes to his family and friends. Schlossman's article was spot on, regarding how he influenced teammates. One of Tim Hennessey's broadcast quotes became a Farce favorite: "Mihulka lines him up and bowls him over!" He seemed to like checking opponents into the boards in front of us. Probably because the "boards" checked back. Thanks again for your key role in bringing Sioux hockey back to national prominence. RIP.

Quite the string of weak to bad penalty calls against Florida tonight.

Sounds fine. Do they have a men's soccer team in need of a conference? How about tennis?

Well, if you need some time to think about it, Call a Timeout.

2023-24 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Count me as also hoping for a strong reset top to bottom. Culture is also part of the process of building a successful team (organization). How players (workers) treat one another, etc. Sometimes, when a team isn't getting the results that it should, a reset of people can help reset the culture too. Perhaps this is also a time for a reset. In a perfect world, all our incoming players bring with them tools that have worked elsewhere, and that can include aspects of culture that can work at UND too. For as long as I can remember, great leaders have been part of UND hockey's success. This is a time for great leaders to step forward. -
ORU is evangelical ... so is Liberty. (HCU is Baptist and UIW is Catholic.) Yeah, I'm grasping at straws here.

Consolation prize: Rocco Grimaldi leads the World Championships in scoring. Named to the All-Tournament Team. Also t-6th in plus-minus.
-
My bad. TSN article makes it sound like their Calder Cup chasing AHL affiliate will get some help. Otherwise, yeah a 2nd round draft pick seems like a good choice.

Gophers' D Ryan Johnson signs with Buffalo, leaving after 2 years in Rodentland. https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/buffalo-sabres-sign-ryan-johnson-to-entry-level-deal-1.1965693

Rocco Grimaldi and Tyler Kleven and Team USA advance to the semifinals at the World Championships. https://www.iihf.com/en/events/2023/wm/news/45034/usa-cze Semifinals have been a curse in the past. Perhaps this is the year. Also hoping Grimaldi's play puts him in contention for Olympic consideration. He seems very well suited for the international game.

Mr Fenton, I have Augustana on line 1.

We're thinking "better to play Badgers Rodents Purple Cows and Rat Dogs early." They are thinking "better to play North Dakota early." -
Welcome to the club!

If I squint a little I can connect that the Arizona Coyotes are the oldest NHL franchise never to appear in the Stanley Cup finals. Need better ownership, better senior leadership, and obviously a real NHL arena. (and yeah maybe they jointly build with ASU which would be fine; ASU basketball certainly needs a new home).

Alex Pietrangelo will be getting a call from Player Safety tomorrow. I've never seen a slash like that - brings the stick vertical, then down onto Dreisatl's wrist. Predicting he gets 3 playoff game suspension. Maybe more. That was another message-sending penalty by Vegas. Let's see if we can screw up Edmonton's goalie. And it follows directly the Edmonton instigation of a fight, so no surprise there.

After Bennett Brien's masterpiece, ANY logo would have a tough act to follow.

Congratulations, again, to Dave Hakstol, on this historic nomination. Reviewing the 50 years of Jack Adams Award (aka coach of the year), I see 3 past winners with a connection to NCAA hockey: Red Berenson (Michigan, ew), Dave Tippett (UND, great guy), Rod Brind'Amour (Michigan State). None of them coached in NCAA first, and then went on to coach in the NHL. Which would make Hakstol the first to succeed on that path. Or, if Jim Montgomery wins, he coached NCAA before NHL too.

Toughest lead in hockey (pools) is a 25 point lead. -
So ... both Florida and Seattle maintained their Road Ice Advantage after game 1.
