I agree on matchups. UNO plays an "old-fashioned" Dean Blais style of high pressure (watch how many times three forwards are deep in the attack zone), which can result in a lot of "riding time". We didn't adapt as well last night as in previous games vs UNO. Holding them to 3 goals was fine, but if we're going to win tonight I think we need to score our "normal" 4. (Last night we had a lot of chances late to tie it but couldn't convert.)

Playing Omaha is good prep for the NCAA's. The best teams will have seen how to beat UND (see the CC and Omaha games on video) and its important we react. Better puck support, and guys transitioning to be ready quickly to be a target for receiving passes from a teammate that's under hard pressure.

Re penalties tonight: * Happy - and a bit amazed that UND gave them only 1 PP. UMD working hard to goad guys into penalties, and we kept our composure well. * Surprised that nothing was called at 20:00 of the 3rd. UMD (Menghini?) should have gotten a couple minors and misconducts for hitting after the whistle. Not to mention all the other garbage. * Very happy that the facemasking major got called. (Without us needing to formally ask for a review.) That was hideous and dangerous. Hoping for supplementary discipline, but not really expecting it.

Pairwise #14 vs #18 or so ... just by playing the game, both team's RPI will have risen slightly. Otherwise, "meh". In a one-and-done format, CC is the toughest out, with the conference's best goaltender, by a country mile. Mbereko stole a point tonight. SOG 19-42 favoring UNO.

If the NCAA regionals were seeded 1v16 etc, some great historical matchups come up: 8v9 is a rematch of the last final, Minnesota vs Quinnipiac, 7v10 is Denver vs UMass, who played a classic OT matchup in 2019. 3v14 BU v Cornell would be a rematch of 1972 final, the last time Cornell made the final game. And 2v15 (which won’t happen due to auto bids) is UND vs Michigan, who last met in the FF in 2011 argh. Speaking of finding the corners and hot goalies.
