  1. I just assumed Fargo was the better city becaues Joe Chapman lives there. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't he run the state of North Dakota. Just ask his lawyer.
  2. He is just trying to get hits to his blog because Schlossman blew him out of the water.
  3. I would guess this tournament will grow for 2008. I'm sure some schools already had their schedules set and couldn't add anymore games. I would like to see East Grand Forks and Grafton Park River from the local area. And school like Hill-Murray, Holy Angels, Duluth East and the such from Minnesota. Too bad Shattuck can't be in it. I'm sure schools would jump at the chance to play in the REA, plus I can't think of a better cause or person to play in memory of. JLS19 Keep on Keepin' on
  4. I can kind of see McFeely's point about hockey in Fargo. Especially since it has failed in the past. It would be no different then if someone was to say they were bringing a collegiate baseball team here to Grand Forks. We all know how well the Channel Cats and that other team I can't even think of right now went over in Grand Forks. When something fails like that over and over again it makes it hard to bring it back again.
  5. They should get the same punishment the gophers got last year. The gophers were caught underagedrinking at Blarney's for free and giving the owners tickets to gopher games. I believe the owner is a gopher booster, which would be an ncaa violation. I know the owner got in trouble, but I can't remember what punishment the players got. If someone can enlighten me, then I say the Sioux players should get the same treatment.
  6. I think they should have the same punishment the Gopher players had which was...uh...nothing. The NCAA (aka: No Clue About Anything) was too busy trying to change nicknames they couldn't be wasting their time on NCAA violations by the all mighty golden gophers. It's not like it was on video or anything...oh wait...
  7. I can't remember if it was the Harvard or Yale AD that called Tim Hennesey, voice of the Sioux, out. That wasn't very classy, but we just laughed at how stupid he acted. I think having your AD call someone out to fight is more embarassing than your AD having fun and doing the sieve chant. Go Buning. Go Sioux!!
  8. Finley needs to save his fighting major for Paukovich!
  9. If Alex can't handle a high school coach, what makes him think he can go on and play in the USHL. Tony is the coach. Period. If the kids have no respect for their coach they have no business being on a team. I take it Alex never played football, because if he thinks Bina is a hard coach he should have played for Berg. Tony is not there to be Alex's friend, he is the coach. Suck it up Alex, it only gets harder from here. Good thing Blais doesn't coach for the Sioux, Alex would have been crying the first day.
  10. If I were a parent of a kid that was cut that actually attended Red River at the beginning of the year and last year, I would be pissed off.
  11. Well, if practice is too tought they can always quit like Alex Simonson. Then all you have to do is enroll at Red River and Coach Malm will get you on the team. Nevermind that other kids from Red River were cut from the team, but somehow they find room for Simonson.
  12. So..Nike is OK with our nickname, but the Gophers are too good for us. HMMMM
  13. Yes, Jason is the same person the REA did a fundraiser for. He was a huge Sioux fan and loved the game of hockey. Not only did he play for the Central Knights his senior year, even though he had a permanent shunt in his head, but he also coached the Supras team. He will be missed by not only Knights fans, but also Roughrider fans. Red River students and hockey players were just as important to him as were Central Students. I guess God needed a forward on his team and Jason was called up. JLS19
  14. Although I'm a Central fan and the Red River hockey players were cheering for EGF against Central - Good luck to Red River. I would rather see a GF team win and would never dream of cheering for EGF over RR. Kick some butt. I hope the young Useldinger gets put in his place.
  15. I'm not exactly sure what Jared Stadstad got kicked out for, but I know he got a 2 minutes penalty and then I think he said something to the ref (that's all it takes in high school to get kicked out). And then the North kid said something and Jared went after him. The north kid skated away like a pansie. Smart move on his part. Jared, unfortunately, has a lot of pent up frustration. Unless you have been living in a cave for the past 3 years, you know why. If you have been living in a cave, google Jason Stadstad and you will know why. Alex Simonson has nothing to do with Central having a bad start. Alex was doing nothing himself. He was not a leader on that team and he showed that by walking off.
  16. Jared Stadstad got a game misconduct and Brandon Moody got a game DQ, for what, I'm not sure. It was a very frustrating game. I haven't quite figured out how the refs are calling games yet. They would let blatant elbows to the head go (I thought Danny Ray was done for sure after the elbow he got) but call lesser non-threatning penalties that just ruin the flow of the game. And I'm not just saying this because I'm a Central fan, I'm seeing this for the opponent also.
  17. A couple links worth checking out. here and here
  18. I think eventually even names like Bison, Gophers and Badgers are going to be "hostile and abusive." You know, animals have feeling too. And once PETA sees how easy it is to manipulate the No Clue About Anything group they will be all over it. I'd like to see us use the ND logo and the slogan Force of the North, but make a deal with NCAA to leave the Sioux logos in the arenas. You can't just wipe out 80 years of history.
  19. I check with Wayne Nelson and he said, as far as he knows: after the first two rounds, depending on who beats who, home field is up in the air.
  20. Unfortunately, even if USD wins and we win there is no guarantee we get home field. It goes to a bidding process and then is decided by the NCAA. We have two strikes against us. The poor showing in the first round and the fact that the NCAA hates us.
  21. The Herald is sending Brad Schlossman for the series. Because of the time difference it will be hard to get something in the paper the next day, but watch his blog and the Herald online for updates and features.
  22. A friend of mine just called and said there are 2 people protesting. WISIOUX: When that customer drove by it must have been during a smoke break for employees!!
  23. Shoot. Too bad I have to "work" today.
  24. Dakota Huseby is the talk show host and supports him for doing what he felt in his heart, but then again not many people agree with Dakota. She drives me nuts. This is how dumb she is: She said the money being spent on the lawsuit should be put to better use like lowering tuition. Someone called in and said the money is being donated by alumni not UND or the state. She said she knew that. So I don't understand what she did't understand about the whole thing. The caller said hey if you can get alumni to donate money so students can have free tuition, more power to you. She's a few sandwiches short of a picnic Someone just called in and said he has not left Grand Forks because his wife is still a student at UND.
