I don't know how they're counting butts in the seats for these games, but I was at the UND-ISU game yesterday afternoon and I have been to many during the regular season. I was extremely surprised to see the 1,400 announced attendance, as I would have guessed way closer to 2,000, based on my experiences at other games this season. It sure looked and felt like it. I have been equally surprised by the announced attendance for the non-UND games as they have been in the 900s, and that seems very inflated versus the eye-ball test of actual butts in the seats. So I don't know what is going on. The only glaring hole yesterday at the UND-ISU game was the south side student section was nearly bare (they are on Spring Break, so cut them some slack). Bottomline: The Betty was rocking and there was a vibe in the air like no other game this season yesterday. C'mon, Grand Forks, let's come out this afternoon and support these ladies like we did at Hyslop in the 90's!

And how different is that from any other fan site anywhere? And why does this bother you so? You're a bit obsessed.

Just guessing here, but on Houdek, my hunch would be that she might be done (again I do not know for sure) because as was mentioned, her red-shirt is used up. I am not at all in the know on Josie, unless she just needs more time to heal, and there's still a chance for her to get in this year.

The transfer is Cassie Thompson, '13 Grafton (N.D.) High School, where she was a very good player. Cassie spent last semester at Northern State in Aberdeen on a very loaded and successful team there. It was announced almost immediately after her injury in Milwaukee that Lauck's medical hardship has been granted and she will be back for UND next year.

Kleinsasser made $3 million in 2011. Kuper made $4.5 million in 2013.

Maybe Simmons can get a shot at his old team in the first game of the 2014 season. http://www.hudl.com/team/4816/highlights/32911821

Come again? Thanks, Dr. Obvious.

No. But I will reserve overall judgment until March. I'm wondering if it is even possible for Brekke to petition for some kind of a medical hardship waiver or if that ship has already sailed. I am so bad at knowing the ins and outs of all these NCAA red-shirting policies, etc.

I'm not big on sugar coating things when they're bad, but the negativity was thick last year, too, at times, and in the subsequent years when UND was finishing .500 ... so which is it? Is it the negativity or the silver-lining seekers that are pulling this team down below their potential? Truth is it is neither and we message board know-it-alls simply don't have the sway that we imagine we do. It sure is fun, though!

Karvinen, Fallman, Eisenschmid and Fellner. I thought it was 5 more that were going. The fifth being Tapani for Finland, but I may be wrong on that. I would never question Schloss. -

I agree with Johnboy. Case in point, this year at the Betty. Head to head says it all.

With all due respect, I think you and gfhockey beat Biz to the punch on that one.

Just my two pennies. This team (throughout its four years), more than any other I've seen at any level, is a bit of a head case. It has great skill and talent but for whatever reason the slightest bit of adversity rattles it to the point that it can't dig out of holes and close out games in hostile environments. Combine that with just dumb bad luck with injuries and suspensions in recent years (Brekke, Schuler, Huff, Traylor, etc.) and inconsistent foul shooting (one game they knock down 99 percent of their shots the next they can't throw it in the ocean) and you have an even greater up-hill battle. It's like they read their own headlines and message board fodder, both positive and negative, and let that affect their play. The only thing I can boil it down to is that it is all psychological.
