Sorry for not reading the whole thread, but if my understanding of Pairwise is correct, the Saturday tie with Mankato was ideal for the Sioux. A win would've knocked the Mavs out of the TUC category, and all the UND wins against the landcows would've been for naught. Now cheer for Mankato to win out (unless they play the Sioux again, that is).

The NAHL and USHL are just two different animals. The USHL has younger players, and sends quite more to Division I hockey programs than does the NAHL. The USHL has become a very expensive league; franchises once sold for $100,000; the price for an expansion club today is $750,000. (See USAToday article on the league Youngsters hoping to realize hockey dreams) If there is a USHL team coming to Fargo, the owners had better have deep, deep pockets.

Or will the Jets move from the NAHL to the USHL? I agree, there's no way for both to coexist in Fargo.

Some interesting things happening in the Pairwise. (I know, I know. Nothing matters 'til March!) But the Sioux make a big jump tonight with the win...to a tie for 6th (but more importantly, EIGHTH, so a No 2 regional seed rather than a 3. If the skating, passing and scoring they showed tonight is the real deal

Bettman is a buffoon, however, had he not led the owners into the lockout, and forced the players into the new CBA, the league would be in huge financial trouble right now. The unrestrained spending by several team owners had driven player salaries to un-sustainable levels, bankrupting several franchises. The Pens have yet to recover. I won't ever accuse Bettman of being the best of anything, let alone the best commissioner in league history. But he just might have saved the NHL. And Sid is a tired old man who long ago should've been put out to pasture.

I agree with McFeely. Sorry, but he is right when he says Hak blew it. Further, The Forum has indeed publicly and officially sanctioned employees who break the law, even an "insignificant" offense. I'm not going to do the research for you, but I assure you when one of their highly-visible managers and/or employees gets busted, it is reported; in fact I'll go so far as to say the press in general goes overboard in reporting its own transgressions. Your objectivity is showing again Goon. A lot of us here have complimented the players (JT, TJ and Bina included), the program and the coach for showing great character, especially when compared to several other hockey programs who've found themselves in somewhat similar circumstances. What happens if Coach H says to himself, "Hmmm, these young men got caught doing something stupid. The police were involved. That doesn't reflect well on the program I have been hired to run with the utmost of character and respect. Therefore that doesn't reflect well on either the University or on me. They're going to sit for a game."

Anyone catch Cloquet vs. Duluth East on FSN North last night? Two pretty impressive goalies in action: Ben Leis of East and Reid Ellingson of Cloquet. Are we good in goal with Grieco in and Eidsness on his way? I don't think either of these high schoolers are committed anywhere. They made 92 saves between them in a game that ended in a 1-1 overtime tie.

I spoke to a Blackhawks scout earlier this winter and he said they are very impressed with Chris' presence on the ice, and the leadership qualities he's shown this year. Don't be surprised to see him in the NHL for more than a visit.
