Looks like I'm going to have to go along with Goon here: I see Wisconsin and Tech pulling "upsets"; top three seeds win easily. It would be nice to see Tech at the X this year instead of just their band.
I really think a #1 is out of reach. All the people we'd beat to win the Final Five who are above us in the Pairwise we've already pretty much cleaned up on this year. What we'd need is to have some flukey stuff happen out east, I think. We'd need two comparisons with New Hampshire flipped; and I'm too tired and way too old to try to figure that out tonight.
Lucia's post-game on the tube: he's NOT happy. "We WILL be working hard THIS week."
Can you imagine the pressure he'd be under if the Gophers mailed it in again this March?
Keep working... need to get that all-important eight-goal lead!
Scores out east:
U-Mass 3 Maine 2 late in 3rd
Boston College 4 New Hampshire 1 middle of 3rd
I know as a card-carrying member here at SiouxSports I'm not supposed to put any stock in what INCH says, but I like their brackets in this week's 4x4:
INCH 4x4
The Bracketology piece actually lays out a scenario under which UND will go east, which looks to me to be a bit easier road to St. Louis. It really depends on how the Sioux do this weekend, and how the NC$$ decides to handle travel.
I heard from a fairly reliable source that a well-known Grand Forks businessman had (before the drawing) offered well into six figures to whoever won the chopper!
