  1. Heard an NHL guy yesterday say how hard it is to get young guys to realize that they won't be sacrificing putting up numbers by coming back hard and covering in the defensive end. He said once they do realize that they can transition from that and it won't hurt their numbers they start to fall in line. Of course it would be nice to have guys that aren't worried as much about numbers as they are about doing what's necessary to win, but especially at the NHL level, guys are playing to impress and get that next big contract.
  2. He also needs to shoot the puck a lot more. He started to do that in the second half, but it would make his playmaking ability that much better. See Nick Schmaltz's transformation in college and now into the pros - night and day!
  3. Not overly big, but a lot bigger than DeRidder. See AJS post above concerning Basse and his numbers at CC and now at St. Cloud, and I would argue CC has recently been a little more responsible defensively than Miami has, but you never know how it transitions from no pressure to a ton of pressure. Of course they could get Ben Kraws from Arizona state with good numbers in his 3 games with Arizona State, but he left Miami because he knew Persson would be getting the playing time, so that says something.
  4. Yes, at this point you would only be getting a backup from a winning team as they are eliminated anyway, and he appears to be the best bet on all I’ve seen in the portal so far. Wonder if people have already expressed interest through his advisor. Would probably be a little disappointed if he wasn’t our target, knowing what else is out there to this point.
  5. But you were saying similar things when Hakstol was coach and we were making it to the Frozen Four every year. This is karma coming to get you, and the rest of us are caught up in something meant for you. Thanks!
  6. How did we ever beat them on their home ice and take them to overtime the other game when we were playing poor defensive hockey.
  7. We did rip him the last game though. Like I said before, sometimes there is no pressure when you are playing for Miami, just like DeRidder with Michigan State, so it ramps up significantly here. I know he can only stop the puck, but I remember David Carle saying Denver’s philosophy is to recruit winners. That said, he isn’t a small goalie and looks the part, even if his save percentage is a shade under .900.
  8. So then Albrecht, who has seen far less time but produced more than Costantini should complain because he hasn't had a chance to prove himself?
  9. Saw Jim Archibald do some things that should have warranted arrest, and instead of intent, there was actual injury.
  10. ...and who knows, he might be the law enforcement that administers the criminal charges as well.
  11. I am seeing 15 as more of a Colton Poolman kind of player, and not sure he is going to be a long term solution for any NHL team if he does sign. No doubt he could surprise, and fill a need for some team, but I would bet that Jandric would have a better opportunity to get NHL time.
  12. I would say we don't have a problem recruiting Northern Minnesota, we just choose not to offer before there is some junior experience to draw on. Many times the players jump on an offer before that.
  13. How is slashing someone to the back of their leg or anywhere not battery then? Should Pionk have been arrested for running into Cam?
  14. Which makes me wonder if he was good defensively in the USHL. Did the coaches think they could fix his deficiencies, and if so, it appears they gave up on him rather early. Mitchell Miller had other kinds of deficiencies, but they were more than happy to give him a whirl, until the administration stepped in. If the coaches want ready made players, then they best be in the picture recruiting some of the first round talent, instead of relying on "character" guys that have a hard time finishing off plays. When you need to have a player on each line that gives a defensive presence but has a difficult time finishing, then instead of tic tac toe on plays, you will be getting the fans reaction of tic tac ohh!! https://youtu.be/kexF0BkIt6I
  15. You expect anything else but hyperbole from someone whose posts come almost exclusively after our season ended? https://thehockeynews.com/news/draft-bandit-luke-bast-the-small-defenseman-with-a-big-skill-set
  16. He actually put up decent offensive numbers with 5 goals, 11 assists and had a much better +/- than the rest of the defense with a +9.
  17. No, but if it was Noah Laba, now you're talking.
  18. Not quite the velocity or accuracy. Frisch needed to hit the net more frequently, but yeah other than Kleven he was our best option for a one timer.
  19. Exactly. Gaber has a nice shot but it takes a lot of time for him to get it off. Could use someone with a Pinto-type release to utilize Blake’s passing ability.
  20. I was guilty thinking he was a depth add because we had just lost a recruit, and not realizing he was a recruit for later. Not quite a depth add. Sure could use someone with his work ethic and ability to bury the puck.
  21. Guess he made his impact both ways, but wish the clean hits he made weren’t punished equally to the ones where he didn’t use much discretion.
  22. Exactly. Part of the reason the Twin Cities works at all for us even is because of how many UND fans live in the Cities. Don’t think that is the case for either Des Moines or Sioux Falls.
  23. As long as you aren’t transferring them to a Minnesota fan, it should work.
  24. I imagine there would be a run on Canisius jerseys if that happened had they not prevented us from getting into the tourney years ago.
