  1. I would find it hard to believe either team offered him a great amount of scholarship money this early in the game, especially if what Exiled says is true, that they don't expect him to come in until he is 20. There are a lot of other good recruits out there within the next couple of years, so why tie up your money that early with a player that could need a little more development. Please don't construe this to mean that I don't think he is, or will be a very good player.
  2. I'll make a case for Troy Murray on the first line. Other than Hrkac, how many players had 140+ points in their first two years, and Hrkac's years weren't consecutive. Not only that, but he was a great NHL forward that could play defense, having won the Selke award.
  3. Gotta come up with something other that "Green out". Maybe play around with "Green with envy" or "Envy the Green".
  4. With all the talk about green nowadays, you could probably get a promotion going with the Sierra Club.
  5. If that's the case, then they are being portrayed like that as well, because they apparently were referencing this website which is how this all came up. I wouldn't worry about being characterized in a bad light, because people are going to do that regardless. See the whining about officials comments as a case in point. All Sioux fans will be characterized like that even though there are only a few chronic complainers who bring that up every time the Sioux lose.
  6. ... and from a person who has no objectivity and thus no credibility either. (outside of GPL that is)
  7. Like I said, I am an optimist until I see something that would sway me the other way. I was only saying if the worst case scenario played out and he decided to leave, what would we be out? I think Davidson realizes how hard it will be to crack the lineup, and so I assume he is prepared to work toward that challenge, whether it be finding playing time this year or down the road somewhere.
  8. True, he will do what's best for him, but it can't hurt having Genoway as one of his good friends. While I know Oshie doesn't have to worry about playing time, I think that many players can just enjoy college and being on a very good team. Whether he is one of those people or not, only time will tell, but if he does decide to leave, I doubt that he would be a player that we would be relying on heavily anyway, so we just bring in another person willing to work their butt off to try and don the Sioux jersey. Just like with the U of M, I like the fact that players dream about putting on our uniform and will give it their best shot, even if in the end it doesn't work out.
  9. Are they saving # 9 for David Toews next year, or would he choose a different # than his brother like Zach Jones did? I know he is #10 at Shattuck.
  10. No flame, but as an optimist, what is keeping Davidson from being another Matt Henderson or the one they tried to compare him with Dustin Penner. You never know. As a recruited walk-on, we aren't losing anything by giving him a shot. His coach obviously thinks he has made tremendous strides, and our coaches seem to feel the same.
  11. I think Miller could get his chance, but I thought he would see more ice time last year as well, especially when they were having trouble scoring early on. Hakstol wants him, and everyone, to be responsible defensively, which makes me wonder if he will have a chance to play on the first line or not. Hakstol might want more of a two-way forward to man the other spot on that line to free up Duncan and Oshie to use their skills more. Then again, he might just want a very talented offensive line to pressure the other team into submission. Of course I know he wants players to be responsible at both ends, Oshie and Duncan included.

    Brother Combos

Brendan and Ryan Connelly Bob and Brian DePiero
  13. Where is Malone? Also, I think Chorney will be in the mix to be Captain, an alternate at the least.
  14. I think Trupp has a good chance at being on the first line, and although I didn't see Brad Miller's name on your line combos, He could even be given that opportunity if he tightens up a bit defensively. Other than that, I still would see Brad Miller working on at least the 2nd Powerplay unit.
  15. If Cichy gets delayed I predict he will be playing Major Junior, not college.
  16. Depends on what you call recent. The Panzers, Ulmers and Hoogsteens come to mind.
  17. Which is all the more reason why a respectable post shouldn't be ragged on. If he doesn't feel the need to be so defensive, maybe he could contribute more in a constructive manner like his last post.
  18. I think that Fischer is probably ready to move up to the powerplay for them. What would we be saying if we lost Chorney besides Lee? Probably that we don't rebuild we just reload, which is true with the gophers as well. They always seem to have a good powerplay, so it is just a matter of getting a little more experience for those not used to playing the powerplay.
  19. If you look at the roster for next year, maybe the coaches saw something missing in the equation that will add up to #8. With Porter and Fabian gone, the physical forwards appear to be Vandevelde and Kaip. They certainly can use another banger down low, especially one that has potential to score some goals and has even more size than any of the forementioned players. He may or may not play much this year, but it is certainly nice to have him to fill a role if others aren't producing in there roles.
  20. I have no doubt that you and other people that know Greg Sheppard personally would defend him as a friend. He has a great deal of friends in the Twin Cities and not very many elsewhere, and that could be part of the problem. All I want is some consistency and there isn't any. While I don't know him personally, his behavior doesn't surprise me that much, as he has always come off as a pompous person. Of course most of that is based on the days he was officiating, and as I said I don't know him, so I don't know if that is the actual person.
  21. I don't see Kaip on the point on the powerplay. I would think between Chorney, Genoway, Lappoint and Bina, the Sioux should be o.k. Kaip would be more valuable down low. Now if there are injuries ...
  22. Hopefully there is some truth to the rumor, but until I hear something concrete on this, I'll wait for Chris, Brad's blog or some inside sources before I get too giddy.
  23. I have never agreed on this premise of giving a point to a team that loses. It goes against everything in sports. If you lose, you lose. Not only that, I think the NHL has a problem of teams playing to get to overtime to get that one point, which kind of defeats the purpose. Just my two cents.
  24. I am not one to believe that UND sports figures can do no wrong, but in this circumstance, I think justice was served. What benefit would it be for Bina to allow Oshie and Toews to escape. Do you think that the officer or anybody else around wouldn't know any of the hockey players? If they did make a run for it, they would have been in a whole lot more trouble.
  25. What Bourque went to SCSU? The only other Bourque I can think of is Rene who went to Wisconsin.
