  1. Don't forget that Darren Jensen played quite a bit in the NHL as well. As you say, Wisconsin has been unreal in getting goalies in the NHL. Since there are so few positions available, I would bet a lot of teams haven't placed many goalies in the NHL. Would be interesting to see the stats on how many drafted goalies make it to the NHL, and how that translates from higher picks to lower picks.
  2. There isn't a policy in place by the NCAA to allow a recruit to jump ship if the guy who recruited him leaves? I know the school should play a big part of it, but the relationship between coach and player is important as well.
  3. You know what is funny, the number of bison fans that come on here and try to be comedians, and want to use something about UND as the punchline.
  4. Much like Jay Ness, Todd Norman was highly touted out of high school, but his career at UND didn't pan out that well, and he only played a couple of years. Don't know if that was a bad experience or not, but don't know if it gives us an in with his kid either.
  5. Yeah, and the best part is that if they choose not to play us, we can always make claims about how much better our team is, even if it may not appear to be the case. Don't think if you are the entity choosing not to play you should be saying how much better you are.
  6. Just the fact that he went through the pain of rehabilitation to get back in a Sioux uniform, and his dedication to the program gives him a high status in my book. Just because we had high expectations of him, doesn't make him a failure. If a parent has high expectation of his kids, and they don't meet those expectations, should they discard their efforts? People always talk about the Fighting Sioux family, and as far as I'm concerned if they put in the effort, give their all, and keep their noses clean, I can respect that, no matter the preconceived expectations I had.
  7. Schlossman shot the media's response there out of the water. Cited many of the incidents and the lack of coverage they got.
  8. Not apologizing for anybody, but to say that it is o.k. if you don't get caught just enables those disposed to doing it, thinking "I'm not the one that will get caught." The point is they got caught, but doesn't make them any worse than the ones who didn't, except in the eyes of the law.
  9. http://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2013/04/11_the_recruiting_trail_april.php Haven't seen anything on this Ben Ostlie, did he commit to UND? Nevermind, just went on the USHL site and it should have been Notre Dame.
  10. I do find it interesting that we don't see, or hear a lot of this going on elsewhere. Either there isn't much of it going on, they are more discrete in their drinking, it is more often overlooked by police and/or administration, or it isn't reported in the media like it is here. We know that it is going on elsewhere, so some of the rest must hold true, and if that is the case, are they any more saintly because they don't get caught? Schlossman has pretty much proven to guys like Hammy, that it gets reported here, and a ton of stuff that has gone down in Minneapolis hasn't seen the light of day. They need to clean it up here, but I suspect that is the case a lot of places, except it isn't spotlighted or caught. "For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open". (Luke 8:17)
  11. They should probably move their parties to Manitoba. Gotta be hard for those people that can drink when they go home, but can't when they are here. However, the law is the law, and athletes should be subject to that. Remember that these athletes are looking at things through a college kids perspective, not 15-20 years down the line, which is the perspective of many on this board. If you are an athlete you better have some self-discipline though, especially when you have already had a warning.
  12. ... says the guy who can't control himself!
  13. Works out perfect. Take that scholarship money, and give it to Gage Ausmus for next year.
  14. Wouldn't get too hung up on draft status, as those players are smallish players that will probably have good college careers, but no guarantee of success in the NHL. Not saying these guys will be as good, but I would take an Evan Trupp or Ryan Duncan any day, especially when those guys are more likely to stay longer. I think I would also rather have a Cammaratta than a Fasching, at least at the college level.
  15. So haven't heard too much about Koules. Anybody have any information on how he has performed in Major Juniors?
  16. I remember a year ago people wondering why Brock Nelson wasn't putting up shots and numbers when he was playing in the minors. Who knows all the circumstances behind the lack of points. One thing I know, is that Kristo doesn't lack for offensive skill, if anything he needs to have a better focus on the defensive side of the rink, and perhaps that is what they want him to focus on.
  17. Yeah, sounds like a person with a sense of entitlement.
  18. On the positive side, they did put up quite a few points as a unit. Don't know if we'll have an abundance of defensive defensemen next year, so may have to do the same and then some in the future.
  19. They probably don't want to mess with the chemistry when they are finally on track to make the playoffs for the first time in a long time.
  20. Think there are players out there that could challenge Gothberg. You never know with goaltenders, as confidence is a huge thing. You could be great one year, and terrible the next. Hopefully Gothberg does become more consistent, but don't know that is a given with more experience, as he had issues giving up the occasional bad goal with the Force as well. If there is one thing we know with goaltenders is that coaches hate them giving up the bad goals and want them to stop the ones they are supposed to, along with the occasional ones they shouldn't. Never would have expected after Schweitzer led us to the National Championship in 1997 that he would be sitting on the bench a lot the following year when Goehring came in, and then be gone the following year.
  21. ... and I believe you said Minnesota was the best team in the nation as well and it wasn't close. Your objectivity is more than a little suspect, especially when you rarely stray from the "party line"
  22. ... and no sooner than you say that -- up pops Mariucci!!
  23. Watching the back and forth, I can see that if you know somebody well or are related to someone it appears there isn't as high of a standard as to what is acceptable. If you don't know someone, its open season on coaches even with a more than respectable record. I don't think the people that are all over Hakstol for a record he shouldn't have to apologize for, have the same expectation level of themselves or people they know.

    Gwoz resigns

Speaking of Urban Meyer, you gotta love his approach about blowing up complacency at the first sight of it. Hopefully the Sioux are an angry team next year, and the coaches can do likewise and spot any complacency in the weight room and elsewhere and "nip it in the bud". http://www.coachingsearch.com/home/2988-urban-meyer-you-blow-up-complacency-as-fast-as-you-can.html
