  1. UND always seems to have problems on their gapping on the big ice surface. Unless you play on it often it can be difficult to close the lanes and not get too aggressive on the penalty kill. It kind of forces you to be a little passive once the zone is gained. Makes for less excitement in my mind. Glad to see one by one teams moving away from the bigger ice surfaces.

    Playoff Time

Especially when so many fans said that we were years away from being competitive in the MVFC, much less against the Bison. After losing to the Bison people would have been asking why waste a year of eligibility on a hopeless cause.
  3. They have been holding teams down on shots all year. Yes, St. Cloud is one year removed from the #1 seed, but need to get acclimated to the loss of Poehling, Jackson, Newell, Blake Lizotte, Jon Lizotte, Schuldt, and even Benson. That is a lot of firepower gone that almost forces St. Cloud to play less wide open.
  4. Rizzo with a hat trick tonight. He certainly seems to be starting to heat up.
  5. ...and St. Cloud isn't exactly a pushover. Yes, they have struggled a bit, but they needed to replace a lot of skilled players, and I am sure it takes a while to find out who can fill what roles. Hopefully they wait until after this weekend to continue their learning curve. If we can stay out of the box and make them play us 5 on 5 I like our chances because we have very good depth that we need to utilize.
  6. You could have included a picture with the new scoreboard, you might get more for your tickets.
  7. Let's just hope they don't play The Pack.
  8. The fact that he blames him for ending his career when he was traded and given an opportunity with another team seems a little convenient to me. It's not like Commodore was a superstar or anything.
  9. There are two sides to every story, and I guess those two know what went on between them, but this doesn't make Commodore look that great himself. By the way getting what he deserved is millions upon millions.

All I will say is that Philadelphia isn't exactly ripping it up now, and that is with a goaltender that is pretty decent. Hart hasn't been the issue like goaltending was last year for Philly.
  11. Pecknold doesn't seem like a coach that would be high on my list, but then again there are a lot of successful coaches I could probably say that about.
  12. ...and sometimes it is hard to judge players that are on high scoring teams, and even lower scoring teams for that matter based on their stats. Gaber is pretty high in goal scoring in the USHL, but doesn't have many assists, so he isn't high in overall scoring. Sometimes secondary assists are meaningless, but on high scoring teams there are probably going to be a lot of assists out there that might fall under the meaningless category. That is going to be the case in a lot of circumstances, but it is another reason that stats don't always tell the story of a player. It could work the other way though, if a team is scoring tons, and you are the only player that doesn't benefit from that, it could possibly say something.
  13. Looks like Sam Hentges is the new go to guy for St. Cloud. Let's shut him down and get to Hrenak early. We have seen that Hrenak can steal games, so stop him from gaining any confidence.
  14. To be fair Tim Hennessey has intimated the same things on a consistent basis. Both he and Ralston continually ripped on people that questioned Rudy and Shaw. The ironic part is that the head coaches in both sports must have had the same conclusions.
  15. I would rather hang in the weeds longer and not have the target on our backs so early. Keeps the guys looking up. For some programs being ranked #1 is a carrot to help in recruiting, but I don’t think that should be an issue for us. I won’t be preoccupied until January when the Pairwise starts to mean something.
  16. Jackson Kunz and Jake Schmaltz with goals tonight for Green Bay. Is Kunz just filling in during a break at Shattuck, or did he leave Shattuck?
  17. Been a fan a long time, but one wouldn’t have had to be a fan long to remember the team we had three years ago that was loaded up and down the lineup. This team is doing quite well, and has the makings of a very good team, but we still aren’t even near Christmas, and we know how other teams get mocked for their first half mythical championship.
  18. Some of it is that, and some of it is just finishing better and getting a few more breaks.
  19. So, we are winning more and all of a sudden they have more good players than you can remember? Were you saying the same things last year, because a good many of the players were here last year.
  20. I agree, everybody that thought Denver was unbeatable and are so positive now will sing a different tune if we give that all back this weekend against a desperate St. Cloud team. Need the players to have that same killer instinct they had this past weekend. Hopefully they know they can take one more step in carving out a bit of history for themselves by sweeping St. Cloud, then Alabama Huntsville and get the longest home winning streak in the new Engelstad.
  21. Rizzo and Gaber with game winning O.T. goals last night for their teams.
  22. They are most likely going to get a top pick, but the spot isn't guaranteed, so why not play hard and let the chips fall where they may.
  23. What does that accomplish?
  24. If Pinto was on the line, it could be the Coast to Coast line with him being from New York and Kawaguchi from BC. It almost would apply with Adams from Michigan, but even more so for the coast to coast on the ice.
