  1. I think that Tom Douple and the Summit League Officials have read this board and they realize that UND isnt a basketball school and that und fans have continually ripped on the summit league over the years. I can see Tom Douple saying "we dont want all of this media attention and anti-sioux rallies' and jerseys in our league" just my 2 cents. plus threads like this will further emphazise this dilemma.

If you believe that Douple is sitting in his office right now reading Siouxsports or BV than

    you128651021377679289.jpg

Stay classy though and keep coming on here trying to stir the pot when you have no dog in this fight.

  2. Wrong...Summit does not sponser football. I'm not sure why Faison doesn't want an every other year contract, but the nickname is not the reason why.

I believe its because until ndsu actually fills their schedule for next year and the year after and the year after with 6 home games like Taylor says he will do than UND and Faison still hold a little bit of negotiating power. Right now Faison looks a little silly but he is also the one who has to schedule 7 non conference games per year. He can decide every other year is the way to go anytime he wants. Taylor is not going to pull that offer. If he says no but still doesn't have his schedules filled for more than 2 or 3 years out than who looks silly. It doesn't hurt UND and Faison to hold out. If Taylor can only schedule a DII or lower this year for a 6th home game people are going to have to ask why he didn't take UND's every year offer.

Now back to SR deciding its best to drop the nickname.

  3. All they are doing is running out the clock, eventually enough time will have run out where everyone involved won't have to make an actual decision but they can tell everyone they tried. Which is BS but it is politics and that is the game they are playing.

I agree with this. Than UND will be left standing with no nickname and no conference. In my mind its apparent SR doesn't want to hold a vote and the higher ups at UND know how important conference affiliation is. Easiest way to satisfy both is just change it now. Than when SR tries to say we didn't give them enough time we can point at yesterday and ask them exactly how much time they need. They had a chance to take action and prove they truely wanted the name to remain but instead voted as they did.

  4. mpls bison is NOT a bison fan, nor a summit fan. Im a summit league fan for mens and women's, and I don't want und in the league, I didnt want usd either, but alas, they probably both will get in, because tom douple said "dont schedule und til nickname is gone" but they have all scheduled them. *sigh* I know he is frustrated, and either way, the nickname is still an anchor for und.

Pretty sure that was just Taylor's excuse. Than Douple came out and said he never told schools not to schedule them, he just wasn't going to consider UND for conference affiliation until the nickname was resolved. It was just another excuse by Gene Taylor that was proven to be a lie.

  5. The receiver situation will be very interesting to watch. If Bamba doesn't make it back, we could possibly see the top three receivers being a couple of red-shirt freshmen (Hardin and Townsend), and a true freshman (McGill). That's not to say that the upperclassmen should be written off, but they will need to improve significantly from last season in order to stay ahead of the young players IMO.

Very true. I'd like to see Bamba back cause I think he will have some very good weapons across the field. We where really lacking that this past year.

He just has to get a little bit of his attitude in check though. Its a team game and I'm glad Muss is giving him some time to realize that.

  6. Are you guys having practices or what? Not much info in this thread about it. 1 article posted from the Herald, which I couldn't read, about a no huddle offense and that's it. I may not be a Sioux football fan but I still like to see what sort of team you guys are fielding this year. College hockey is over and you're not playing the Bison this year, so let's see some updates. Thanks.

The team will be better. Young but better all around. Changing both offensive and defensive philosophy a little bit.

Next years team is going to be young but we have some very, very good young players who are getting better this spring. Overall things are going good but its still only spring so I don't think most on here are going to pound our chest about how good this team is going to be or how good individuals are going to be.

  7. 250 fans? geesh, no one cares about und in the ndsu circles im afraid. wouldnt the bisonville crazies go to a game if they REALLY wanted to play und in all sports.

the litmus test has failed, ndsu has 2 good baseball players Wentz & Kline, thats it. So its not a big deal.

Yep, game in the cities on Easter holiday. Thats a real nice barometer on how people in Fargo feel about the game. That game used to draw maybe 100 when it was at Newman and half of them where Sioux fans.

  8. That's right it's about money. If RFM was making any money with Sioux sports they would have continued the relationship.

Or maybe the bison are paying more money than UND was willing to pay. RFM may be making more money but its coming out of ndsu's pocket.

  9. WOW you're really plugged in and really well connected. I'm impressed.

Just reading what your own fans are stating on your board Danno. These things where posted on BV a couple times and got removed for not having facts. Than the players that where named where suspended, seems they have some merit. Fargo is not that big, and with media, facebook, texting and message boards things get around.

  10. NDSU and UND have 2-3 players out of what, 300+ get in trouble every year, it comes with the territory. I say big deal, nowadays with the media and facebook, texting, message boards, we HEAR about all of it now.

Now, Bohl has given out 2 games here or there, but now its Zero Tolerance for a bigger misdemeanor/felony. I dont follow hockey at all , so i cant comment on what hackstall has done. carry on.

Your probably right. I'm sure before media, facebook, texting and message boards there where a lot more instances of bison players being involved in a theft ring well over $100,000 that we didn't hear about.

  11. The article talks about RBs Sutton and Murray "and kids coming into the program next year". I am a little surprised (and disappointed) that there was no mention of Sims. I had hoped he was going to be another stud at RB!

I think Binns is included in that statement. In another article Coach Mussman had mentioned how important it was going to be to get the 20 freshmen who redshirted up to speed now that they are in the position to start getting some reps. In the same article he mentioned there may be some redshirts pulled on next years freshmen but it was when talking about WR if I remember correctly.

  12. Maybe if it looks like they may need them to make the playoffs midway through the season, it will be determined that they have paid their debt to the team and will be reinstated. Oh wait, that is what Hakstol does, not Bohl.

Your really going to go there? We haven't had the time with this some of you would have had if rolls where reversed but we can. You have guys involved in a theft ring thats well over $100,000 and your going to start talking !@#$? Are you sure these where the only two guys involved. I heard there was a list with 15 football players names on it, what happened to the other 13 guys? This is a little more serious than being drunk and throwing stuff in the street, or getting a minor or DUI. This is borderline federal offense.

But if you do want to compare how Bohl handles alcohol related offenses he's suspened guys for about 20% of the season even if they had two offenses. I would say Hakstol's punishment is 50% was more than enough. I guess maybe you should go back and take some of those ndsu math classes.

  13. Imagine how insulting it would be to the tribes to get a vote together only to have the SBoHE yank the decision out from under them. I would like to think that wouldn't happen (talk about politically incorrect!) but nothing in this debate would surprise me. However, I'm optimistic a vote on Standing Ropck will happen and the SBoHE will hold off on any action until then.

I agree with you but to play devil's advocate the tribes have had plenty of time to get something done. Ron Thunder has been out of office for awhile now and they are only getting approval now. If its not of top priority for the tribes than I really don't understand any arguement they would have if the name would be changed before they finally got around to voting. It would be just like everything else in the world and the finger would be pointed elsewhere, at the SBoHE.

  14. The only joke is your transition period to DI. Think your SB team will win 10 games this year like your MBB team?

Don't want to derail this thread anymore but Danno just seems to take shots wherever he can and ignores anyone bringing up things he doesn't want to talk about.

Leave it to a bison fan to talk smack based on things that happened in the past.

Really what have you done this year thats worth talking smack about?

-You had more guys arrested off your football team last year than you had wins. This year isn't getting off to a great start either.

-Basketball team- had some wins but the results are the same as UND's, no tournament and at home about the same time. Nice story about fans yelling racial slurs at opposing coach though.

-Volleyball team- made it to the nat,... oh wait, lost in the conference championship game.

-The great press ndsu has gotten since Chapman left, and thats not over.

-But don't worry Dan, you can still hang your hat on your Softball team.. :D:D There may be what 500 fans total that see them play this year. We get more fans at my beer league softball games.

  15. That post on Bisonville was a while ago now. Usually if there is something to break it happens fairly quickly after it hits the message boards.

Not that it's not true, just that I think we would've seen something by now.

Pretty sure they didn't just catch that guy walking out of Best Buy yesterday with $50,000 in electronics yet the story itself just hit the forum today.

  16. The author posts on Bisonville (he even made a thread about this article to get it attention) and the article was clearly written to cater to Bisonville.

Sure he posts there but the article itself wasn't on there. It was on the Bison Illustrated website which is in no way affiliated with Bisonville. I don't care who he is or who he was catering to, a lot of people think Bison Illustrated is directly affiliated with the Bison athletic department.

  17. Lot of anger there because we moved to DI and surpassed UND? Get use to it.

Yep lots of good press coming out of Fargo the last few months. I think Sicatoka touched on a few but also left out todays forum article about the foundation executive claims the Fargo police arrested him without cause in his DUI case. The good ones are yet to come though. The news from the audit will be real good and once the news hits on why a few of your football players got kicked off the team that will be a great coverage. Aren't you the one that always comes on here complaining of coaches covering things up Dan?

As far as I'm concerned the bison can take all that great coverage and I'll gladly get used to it. Gives me a good laugh every two weeks or so.

I'm happy with our president being able to stay on campus and do his job, not travel around the state getting his knees dirty trying to repair relations that where destroyed by the past president.

  18. Don't mistake posters on Bisonville as being anything close to representing the majority of sensible NDSU alumni. I'm sure most are quite grateful that Hanson is doing such a good job of (publicly) cleaning up Chapman's unethical actions.

If Bisonville were in control, they'd say to hell with the SBoHE and have NDSU go independent so that they could implement a mandate of 25% growth annually in enrollment, since such a statistic apparently means something in their minds.

The article wasn't on Bisonville though. Its on a website of a publication that most people attribute to NDSU athletics. When its in the entry of a gas station or a hotel I'm sure most people assume it is a publication put out by NDSU and its athletic department.
