Minimum 6 years down the road. 2032 at the earliest and then why would the G6 want to expand and let anyone in with a pulse from the FCS. They would want to hold onto any of the media money and keep their G6 championship their own. No network will be clamoring for a team from Grand Forks or brookings or Normal, Illinois to get invited to a conference to sweeten a TV contract.
NDSU will be in a better place when and if that happens. And if the FCS teams want to think they will be paid to enter an FBS conference when that happens, good for them. They will be in the third tier for a long time.
And no one is paying for a team from Fargo, ND or Laramie, WY in that same scenario.
What will serve the G6 schools well will be tighter conference footprints and minimized travel costs. Some of these G6 schools can’t afford the level they are at now, they will be hurting even more minimum 6 years from now. That is where the FCS schools that are ready will see an opportunity IMO.

But he really doesnt have to do anything as NDSU has been a good conference mate and hasnt violated any rules for such an action. And they arent about to on one of your whims. Correct.
The NDSU AD stated last week they have one foot out the door. That’s good for the conference how exactly?

The women have some really tough games left. Obviously, NDSU (2X) will be a complete handful for the gals. It's almost at the end of the season, and as we know UND has struggled bigtime. There was a lot of emotions around Jocie leaving for the rival. Several said she would regret it. She has now started all 24 games for the Bison, averages 10.8 ppg, and is on a team that is 22-2. Did she make the right move?
Who????
Kidding. This year obviously she did. College athletics change year to year so only time will tell for her entire career.

Seems like a whole lot of concern on what UND fans think about this.
Makes it tough to buy the whole "we've moved on" charade...Half the comments are just trolling NDSU fans at this point and fishing is good.
Some of the other ones sound like the outlandish things that have been tossed around by NDSU fans the last decade. But carry on and you do you.
Make the announcement and run to opposing message boards…….makes sense

Minot State isn't D1 either and while they could move up they won't. My better idea is worry about improving our athletics instead of trying to destroy the Summit. Dude, did you react like this the first time your girlfriend dumped you?
Three things can happen at the same time. 1) UND should work on improving athletics
2) the Summit should be proactive and protect itself by adding a non D1 member now to start the 3 year clock while it has 7+ members instead of wait until it has 6
3) All presidents can bury NDSU. They have just told you they are leaving anyway. Call their bluff
i guess I don’t understand your point

NDSU is gone as soon as they can from the Summit. Need to get the wheels moving. Good on Larson, can’t say he didn’t warn you.
The presidents of the Summit league should call his bluff. Zero chance the MWC schools want anything to do with sending their Olympic sports to Fargo for games.
THE average salary for a men’s head basketball coach in the MWC is north of a million. Let him try to figure that out while finding money for football.

I know your trying to stir the pot but why would any of the regional schools travel to Fargo when P4 schools pay them much more and are better exposure? I know you won’t answer and just run back to B’ville to report back

There isn’t. But honestly, the state could fund all $17 million and still owe NDSU more for the discrepancy between the state funding for athletics between the 2 schools the last 10 years.
lol. You mean using the funding model your prior president approved of?

Kick out teams with D1 hockey. NDSU is too important to the Summit League.
Why??

College athletics has become more cut throat than ever. NDSU has proven they will never do us any favors and the regional summit league members shouldn’t do them any favors if they can pull it off.

All this talk of needing to do something with the SD and Montana schools to do what create the Great West Conference 2.0? Yeah that would immediately legitimize moving up. Each school needs to do what is best for them.
An FBS conference of that would be in our best interest. Honestly in time it would be better than the MWC and the Dakota schools could freeze NDSU out.
Longshot it would ever happen but we have to be looking for a way. The perception thing can not catch up to us again after the strides we have been making the last few years.

Because if you kick NDSU out you are down to 7 teams. When, and it is when, St. Thomas leaves you are down to 6 and automatic qualifiers become VERY problematic.
So invite Augastana, Mankato or any other D2 with Visio the vision now. Don’t see that move of St Thomas happening before than. Get that 3 year clock started. I believe the NCAA has a 2 year temporary grace period when major shifts happen.

If NDSU was scheduled to play everybody in the MVFC they may have done this. Since they weren't and some teams still have 8 MVFC games set, I doubt they would do that this late in the game. UND will have to make up that $900K or so in ticket revenue some how. Going from 10,000 (12K - 2K students) at $100/ticket to 8,000 at $12/ticket to see Valpo will be quite a hit to the budget.
Or the conference will just have everyone play each other.
Losing NDSU off the schedule certainly would hurt but I’d probably worry more about your own scheduling issues

No one scheduled them non conference when they were FCS, why will those teams schedule them when they are FBS and it costs more money? I guess I don’t see the logic there but could be wrong.
I say kick them out of the Summit and figure out how to add another team. Zero chance the MWC adds them for all sports or they can afford to fly their Olympic sports around the conference.

I don’t think there is an option to not add a women’s sport. Borderline title 9 right now.

It’s fun to look back at some of the old basketball courts in ND, Many had balconies for seating as the courts were in the community centers, some high schools had balconies on the ends, the bleachers were all cement. Anyone see a court so small the free throw circle intersected the half court circle.
‘there has to be enough engineers out there that can figure this out.Rhame, ND….. 3 half court lines. One to cross in 10 seconds and than the over and back would reset to a center point on the court.

Watching the end of the NDSU Denver game. Great game tied with 3 minutes left. These Denver announcers are such homers, it’s hilarious
The severity of the injury to Wheeler Thomas could change things a bit

Alright, I think we’ve hit the quota of portal WRs who only have practice film 😂
I’d take Danny’s opinion of having a year to see him on the field vs cut up highlights

True, that is just the window where they have to declare to enter the portal, but can be signed/commit anytime after that I guess right. I wasn't thinking lol.
I probably over simplifying it too. As many have mentioned some of those guys in the portal are done playing and the others are still there for a reason. Need to hit on the when you can.
I haven’t seen anything on Fleming signing anywhere. Maybe we can retain him. 2nd semester must start Monday.
