  1. Unreal how horrid the Goofs are. Why was that D-back cocking off with the ball before getting in the endzone?!?!?!? What an incredible lack of discipline!

2 words that will never be in the same sentence as Brewster:

    1) Discipline

    2) Talent

  2. Well, sitting downstairs in the Man Cave. Screwdriver in hand and flipping between the Goofers/Purdue and Illinois/Michigan State.

Thoughts.....Geez the Goofs look horrid once again (so does Purdue)....Pudue up 7-0....a nail has been pounded into Punky Brewster's coffin.

Illinois/Michigan State......this one could be a dandy.....Illinois up 3-0 (they should be up 7-0). Can Illinois outlast Michigan State?? Maybe an upset in the making.

At 2pm I gotta run the computer feed on the Bison through my plasma tv.....ugh.....I hate not watching in HD! I have decided that my other TVs in the house need to be switched to HD, but then Directv is gonna screw me on buying HD receivers...

The Man Cave is known as the Grain Belt Bar here in Western WYO......the only place in the state you can always get a cold Grain Belt Premium!

Sounds like a good time. I know there are a lot of fans here who like drinking the Premium.

Oh man did you just see the Minnesota defensive pick 6 that ended up not being one. They are terrible.

  3. Per the pre-game entry in Sioux Football Insider, UND was expecting to host "15 or 20" potential recruits for the game. <Cringe>

Don't get to wrapped up with the recruits. Lets face it right now recruits coming in know they have the chance to contribute immediately to the program. We don't have much in the junior class. Kids today care more about potentially playing right away. The coaches also have to sell that the program is going in the right direction. It may not seem like it is but we have a bunch of young kids getting very quality minutes while we won't be graduating to much that will affect us next year. Times are tough now but I believe brighter days are ahead.

  4. Sioux by 14.

USD's d-line pretty much quit last week against the Bison and the secondary hasn't been impressive this year.

UND's young team may start out a little slow but the defense will keep them in it until the offense gets rolling.

  5. I will say this much. Yeah the defense isn't that great right now for the Yotes but they tend to play D much better at home. If you are not worried about Dante beating the Sioux with his arm and the Sioux coaching staff takes that same philosophy the UND defense will be in big trouble. Warren tore up Minnesota with his arm and I know they are not the best defense in the world but don't sleep on USD's throwing ability.

The Coyotes did put up a good fight and had a 13-7 lead at half. Granted they fell apart in the second half but they were beating a fired up Bison team for quite awhile.

The Yotes ran out of gas as your defense seemed to fold the tent in the second half. It was not as much of the bison dominating up front as it was your guys just going through the motions. Your offense is pretty good.

And your right, playing at home will be a huge advantage. Playing most of the game trapped in the south end of the Fargodome with the students killed your offense and they looked like a mess. I know USD will be hungry this week and will throw everything they have at the Sioux. If this game was in the Alerus I'd say the Sioux win handily. Taking our very young team to the Dakotadome and the toughest environment we played in yet will be a challenge.

  6. Yeah like everyone on this board did last week??

We where discussing a game of one of our conference members.....

You guys are obviously hung up on UND as there seems to be a new UND thread every day there. Thanks for caring so much about Fighting Sioux athletics though Danno.

  7. Does anyone have any more specific info regarding the online numbers? I didn't see any note of them in the "enrollment statistics" section on UND's page. I've heard this is UND's most significant growth area, but I'd be curious exactly what UND's online enrollment numbers are. I know online students are real students taking real classes, but campus certainly doesn't feel different or more crowded than in years past.

Tell that to any campus employee and they would laugh. Its definately much busier around campus and the help is definately taking notice. They will also tell you its a nice problem to have though.

  8. ......and interestingly, the Defensive coordinater for Montana is the dude that was D-coordinator at NDSU last year. I always defended him (Mike Breske), and thought we made a mistake by making him feel he needed to leave. But......maybe he isn't very good. He was also the D-coordinator here at WYO under Joe Glenn and while the Cowboy offense was sputtering, he always had a very solid defense. It surprises me he can't get it together now.

WYO, is Montana running a 3-4 now. I know thats what Breske liked in Wyoming and there was talk in Fargo about the Bison switching to it a little last year. If they do run that the 3-4 is a complex defense and switching over to it can take time.

  9. Wow. Maybe WYO will beable to win against UNLV this year! After the disaster I witnessed against Boise State tonight, I was thinking WYO would not win another game this year. The were horrid!

Wouldn't judge a team by how they faired against Idaho. They have a pretty good team this year. They laid an egg against Nebraska last week but Nebraska made what many consider the best qb in college football look silly yesterday as well so they are definately legit.

  10. I just tuned in to the USD/MN game......has USD been dominating completely??? Why on earth is Brewster still coaching!

Was watching the KU/GT game.......doesn't seem like the KU team we saw last week. I think Turner Gill will turn things around at KU......

Final question.....What channel on Directv is Idaho on??

I think you guys definately woke KU up last week and showed them how to play with some emotion. They also sped up the offense a little bit this week.

  11. Ole, I agree with what your saying. Most on here don't want to admit that so far we have had a very poor transition in all sports. Especially a guy with 'HOMER" as his name. Recruiting in B.Ball and football is almost impossible compared to who we are going against.

What can we sell to the players that NDSU and SDSU or UNI doesn't have in spades. Absolutely nothing!! That's just reality. So we are left with leftovers and recruiting in places far from home.

We thought it's bad now. Try recruiting when everyone knows Poly and Davis are gone and we have no one else to play.

Homer, I commend your optimism however misguided it might be.

The Sioux have developed a pretty good pipeline recruiting in states other than Cali but even so only travel out there once a year anyways. I'm sure that can still be arranged if it is such a problem. There are a few other schools out west. My "misguided" optimism comes from having the opportunity to go to a few practices and watch the team and also watching the spring game. I'm not basing my optimism on one game and slitting my wrists like the few who want to call me out for simply stating this team is getting better and more athletic than what it was. If actually seeing it makes my optimism misguided than maybe it is. I'm not worried about recruiting and I'm not dwelling on getting blown out by a team that could prove to be a pretty good football team this year.

Anyways, glad to see your back to trolling and taking shots at UND when you get a chance. I thought maybe we wouldn't see you again until bball season but I guess you couldn't wait. Best of luck to your Bison today against N Iowa.

  12. The more I thought about it today I think the boys come out focused and play a good game tomorrow. We run the ball, Jake is more efficient and the D limits the running game. The key for me is the type of game the coaches call and taking a few chances. Coach to win and not to keep it close. This game is in an area we can expand our recruiting into a little bit so its an important game. I have faith in the team and its really obvious I'm in the minority when I say I like the direction the team is headed personel wise. My prediction for the game is Sioux win by three. 27-24.

  13. I can't wait until next Saturday. I have my tickets and I am taking my dad and my 9 year old son to his first Sioux football game. When does the gates open? We tend to check out the tailgating and the atmosphere at the Alerus. This is my first Sioux game since they beat Texas A & M-Kingsville in 2008 so I am excited, especially for my son whom I told when I was 9 my dad took me to my first Sioux football game 1985 vs E. Strousburg (PA). It was great and I hope this game is great too!!

Thats awesome darell. I hope you son enjoys the game and it is a memory he has for a long time such as yours. Going to games with my dad is still special for me today. It will be good to have the team at home especially since its a lot earlier than last year.

  14. You need to think with your head more and less with your heart. I am a died in the wool Sioux fan for almost 60 years and I am not assuming anything nor comparing anything, just saying the Bison have done some good things since going DI. the Sioux have too, but to a lesser extent. Whether NDSU has beaten a good team in two years is not the issue. The issue is can UND grow enough as a program to gain similar respect around the region. Time will tell about this and just how good KU and NDSU are this year.

Your last 15 posts have been about how poor UND athletics is and your threads you've started have been about how bad our hockey team was last year and how our scheduling sucks because its wasn't done for next year even though this season hadn't even started yet. Yes, you are complaining and comparing alot. I'd be happy to give you my thoughts through PM but I want to get this thread back on topic.

I hope to see our team show improvement this week which shouldn't be hard. A lot fewer mistakes would go a long way. You can't turn it over five times and not move the ball against the QB many have as the 3rd best elgible for the draft this year or 45-0 is what you get. We need to be more phyiscal and get after Northern Illinois. If I see that than I will be happy as I think the outcome will show it.

  15. Recall that the Bison lost only 2 games in two years and won 3 of 4 games against FBS teams, the loss by one point. They beat both FCS and FBS teams and gained national attention BEFORE they were playoff eligible. I remember that more than I remember who won the MVFC those years or who was FCS national champion. I am a Sioux fan, but you have to respect the program they put on the field during that period. This year's KU win will eventually be evaluated as the season progresses, but in the meantime you have to admit that it was college football news while UND's hammering at Idaho was lost in the wind. In spite of a poor record the last 2 years, the Bison have not been blown out in any game they have played. Again, I hope that UND can begin to match up better as they grow the program, but the fact is it is tougher now than it was in the past so it could be a very difficult road for many years.

You are assuming. The only way to compare the teams is to get them on the field at the same time. NDSU hasn't beaten a good team in two years and that includes Kansas. UND hasn't necessarily either besides maybe Cal Poly. Not getting blown out doesn't save jobs (Mussmans or Bohls) and we won't know about the quality of recruits for a few years so only time will tell. I completely disagree with your whole post and think you might have a little bit of the wrong color green in you.

  16. I am sure they could schedule an 11am FB game, then convert for an 8pm tip if needed. Or there's always the optioin to move the BB game to the Sports arena if needed.

I don't think there are any high school playoffs that day so they shouldn't have to worry about moving the game.

  17. I've actually heard the opposite and there has been no effect and support for the athletic programs has been incredible. They have lost some donors but have gained others. The games are going to go on regardless and the students are still going to get the great education they received before regardless of what the name is. I don't think anyone is sweating it out.

P.S.- I find it funny now that people are willing to pull donations now but money for the privately funded lawsuit had to come from pretty much one person.

  18. How can UND generate interest in a FB program playing Lamar, Valdosta and North Alabama etc.? No one in the upper midwest knows where they are and could care less. Talk about travel costs! On the other hand, you are correct, being in the Big Sky, MVFC, or a Summit FB league is a must to survive. The move to D1 will be a total failure in my opinion if this program does not find some way to play some newsworthy opponents soon. If Faison is not working 24 hours a day to resolve this then UND is in serious jeopardy of not being a viable D1 university.

Step away from the ledge. I know Faison and the coaching staff is working hard on this. Just cause we don't have the schedule filled for the next five years don't jump. Recruiting is going fine, the team is improving.

Honestly whats the difference between North Alabama or Western Illinois? Just getting FCS teams on the schedule is important.

  19. Well said Star. It will take a lot of work but I'm confident that next year's schedule will come together. Very rarely are schedules completely more than a year before the season starts. While having 4 games left to schedule is concerning I highly doubt this has been placed on the back burner and some contacts have been made. Getting into a conference is very important though for the future of this will be a yearly thing.
