  1. Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Stroup had great potential but just off the top of my head Travis O'Neel, Eric Schmidt, Ryan Goven, Tyler Dahlen, Dan Ullsberger, and Steve Brennan are all head and shoulders above Stroup.

Wes Atkinson, Tony Hermes, Tom Irvin (pre-injury). I'm not even sure Stroup was in the top ten. Thats not bad though considering there have been some very good ones to wear the uniform.

  2. Roehl healthy = win both games, in the playoffs guaranteed. Don't know for sure that we'd host, just a guess.

Yeah it's an excuse, so what?

Last time I checked injuries happen. I wonder if either one of those teams you lost to had injuries to key players when you played them or how many teams you beat during the year that where missing key players. I just think its funny that you think injuries only happen to your team and thats the only reason you lost those games. The fact that Youngstown ran the same play against your defense all game and you couldn't stop it or the picks thrown against Wyoming probably had just as much to do with it. Just my thoughts though. Gotta love excuses.

  3. And on further review I think the offense was on the field for too many minutes against AP and CCSU.

You play that many minutes of a football game running the ball like we do...someone is going to get hurt. Just the way it is. Sadly, it was Tyler Roehl and it cost us wins against Wyoming and Youngstown.

NDSU is in the playoffs last season and probably hosting a game at the Dome if we win those two.

But you didn't. Gotta love excuses. Every team in football has injuries, deal with them, don't make excuses of them.

  4. I am just saying the nah sayers from the Fargo area will start with their calls for suspensions and other garbage.

Last time Mike McFeely was on the fore front of this.

I think they got thier hands full in Fargo just trying to keep up with thier football team in the beat report. They might try and use this to take the light off thier own guys though.

  5. I was unaware that the playoff game against Winona was on state wide TV. I honestly would opt out of a playoff game in the FFD against a NAIA team that is not televised and no one shows. Congrats on the win. Why is it that we just can't get along, I honestly post over here out of mutual respect.

I have no problem with you and am glad you post over here. For the most part a lot of bison fans bring good conversation to the board and add to discussion but I know your post was only to take shots at UND and its program. If you where paying any sort of compliment I guess I missed it.

  6. What happens if Oct. 1st comes and the name is retired? Than Mr. Murphey gets elected, the tribe works with UND and Spirit Lake and they decide that they will allow UND to keep the nickname. Could the Fighting Sioux nickname pull a Brett Favre and come out of retirement? Its a serious question. If they retire the nickname do you suppose there is any hope of them getting everything worked out and bringing it back before they chose a new nickname?

  7. I honestly hope you guys do well this year, and props for getting some press here and there. But, "

Located in Grand Forks, North Dakota has been a national power in Division II for years. The Fighting Sioux play home games in a domed stadium that seats 12,283.

That's all you seat? Pretty pathetic, I thought ours was bad. Plus you don't sell near that much, what, 6k for that last playoff game? Average 10K? That press quoting that is a negative more than a positive, IMO. What are the plans for going back outside anyways???

What was NDSU's attendance for thier last playoff game in the dome?

What do you expect? We hosted playoff almost yearly since 2001 when the Alerus opened and kicked the !@#$ out of Winona St. for a couple years before that. Most fans aren't going to make the drive to see it again when the game is on statewide TV. 6000 wasn't great but that was 6000 more fans than the Fargodome has seen for a playoff game, if you don't count the North Dakota high school playoffs I guess.

  8. I agree with you - there appears to be a lot of talent and good depth on defense. They are young but should be good. Hopefully, they will stay healthy!

Thats what gets me excited is the amount of talent that is there. I heard good things about these guys when they where redshirt freshmen and was very impressed by them during the spring game. I just never took the time to look at the depth chart. The offense will be alright but I think it is good for our young defense to go through a season where the hat may be hung on them a little bit while the offense gels.

  9. Is anyone else excited about how young our defense is? I knew they where young but there is going to be a lot of sophmores and Rfr. getting some good minutes this season. That gets me excited about the future. I'd rather take a few lumps with sophs and freshman than with seniors. I just have to tip my hat to the coaches again for a great last few seasons of recruiting. Keep them coming!!

  10. Offense is going to be an unknown. A lot of first time starters.

Defense is going to be pretty solid. I am really excited about the Sioux Defense. They are young and they are talented. I was impressed with the 2-3 deep in some postions at the spring game. The defensive line is starting to gain back a lot of depth, the linebackers are athletic, and I can't say enough about the secondary. This could be like some years past where the defense can carry the offense. And the best part is the defense is young. 7-8 wins is very doable for this young team.

  11. Youtube of Jarrel Davis. Stong, fast and does a little bit of everything. Looks like a nice addition for the Sioux. :glare:

Thats good footage. Two things stood out. First was how well Jarrel stands in and blocks. That was impressive. Second was how aggressive he was in getting up field. Didn't waste time doing a lot of dancing. Combine Jarrel with the rest of our recruiting class coming in and I am very happy in the direction of the program. There is a lot of potential there. Thats all you can ask for and hope that a majority of the players reach that potential and stay healthy.

  12. The whole DAC would never move up because he whole DAC does not belong in ncaa DII. This is not just an athletic change, it is an institutuional change. Only Mary and Minot from today's DAC really are fit to make this move, and it won't be easy to make happen and fund it in Minot eaither.

NDSU's move into DI was a much larger change institutionally than it was athletically. You have to fit the profile and be prepared for a lot of hard work. It is not as easy as you want to make it out to be. Do Mayville & Valley City belong in DII . . . absolutely not. Do Jamestown and Dickinson . . . probably not.

I don't see why you think Jamestown and Dickinson probably don't belong. If all these schools can get into the NSIC, and it maybe would, the travel costs would really not change for these schools. Both schools have solid athletic programs. Dickinson has a lot of support from the community and is remodeling its stadium. Thier stadium will be very nice when completed and will rival "the Bowl" in Bismarck. With what DII looks like today I think both schools would fit in nice. A lot of these schools where competing against eachother in NAIA 10-15 years ago.

  13. And you go into every Sioux game that you're not the favorite and mark it down as a loss? I remember when we went DI you all said we wouldn't win this or that but we have proved most of you wrong. Until I see MN going head to head with Ohio State and being in the game I like our chances just fine with them. (remember App State and Mich.) Since your so objective what's on tap next year for the Sioux with a full DI schedule?

I actually agree with Dan on this one(holy !@#$ mark that down). I don't think there is anything wrong with being confident in the team you cheer for. I always think the Sioux have a chance, sometimes more than others, but I never write them off. Its an old saying but thats why they play the games.

  14. I could honestly give a !@#$ less about the gophers playing ndsu. They beat a team that was 1-10 and had a new coaching staff and was trying to use existing players to fit a new system. They lost to Bowling Green and Florida Atlantic while taking Miami of Ohio into 3 OT's. Not exactly D-1 football powers. I would also expect a solid DI-AA program to beat Florida Atlantic. Is it a huge deal to me? No only cause I don't care about either school, is it a big deal to ndsu, ofcourse, but they have a board for thier fans to discuss it.

  15. You saw the article when it came out March 20th? Easy enough to bury it some place in the paper.

I didn't see it. Kind of hard though when I don't live in Grand Forks and don't get the Herald. You must have got the Herald that day though and remember where the article was at cause you seem pretty sure about this. Where did they have it buried?

  16. Brad Kelly was charged with felony assult. Funny how the gf herald didn't print anything about it if it was last month. (not really usual for them)

A simple google search would have showed you Danno that they did have an article about him pleading not guilty. I do not know when the next trial date was set up for and I'm not paying to find out. There may not have been anything else to report as of now of now so that may be why they haven't reported anything but I am not sure. Maybe you should check that out before you go putting the Herald in its place though Dan. You really told them.

  17. Whatever happened to the UND football player who got drunk and beat up a UND RA this spring... has he gone to trial yet?

I'm not to sure. I think there was a trial date set for last month maybe but not to sure what happened with it. I'm sure you could search it to find out if you wanted or someone else may know.

  18. I'm sure the ladies will be just fine. Great achievement for a newly eligible team to get into the Sweet 16. Since you're so concerned about troubled athletes why don't you give us a update on the status of Sioux standout Bobby Stroup?

How far back you want to go Danno? Bobby Stroup's day in court has come and gone. He has been off the team for a year. He wasn't practicing with the team a month ago.

  19. Twist it anyway you want but we all know that NDSU had more dominate DII sports programs.

Princeton has more DI football national championships than Michigan, USC, Oklahoma, Florida, LSU, Alabama, well everyone. Problem is if no one can remember them what good are they. They are sure fun to talk about I guess. The graduating high school seniors this year from Fargo haven't even got to see a home playoff game. I'm sure their parents tell good stories about them though. I guess according to your logic Princeton has been the most dominate DI football program ever. News to me.

  20. Atleast Bison football has history and tradition when it comes to titles, something the Sioux football team cannot claim.

My buddy's grandpa used to tell my buddy's and I how they had to walk up hill both ways in 8 feet of snow to the last home playoff game they had in the Fargodome, oh wait I mean at Dacotah Field. I forgot the only playoff games the Fargodome has seen has been of the high school variety. Those are fun to I guess.
