  1. . . . says the school that takes RE money with its condidtions for years and years. The shots at Taylor are pretty empty coming from the north. Empty.

And your shots at UND and the Ralph now are equally as empty. bison fans made a joke out of the Ralph for years only to see their beloved AD who can do no wrong turn around and !@#$ on a 50 year relationship for a donation so he could finally get something done with the BSA. So which is it? Is what Taylor is doing as comical as he is? Or was the Ralph a great business move by UND? By the way just to clarify, Ralph was an alumni by the way and had a longstanding relationship with UND, no relationships had to be ended to get Ralph to donate the money.

I think I know what your answer will be so do you like your crow served cold or should we warm it up for you?

  2. I think I see a lot of jealousy here with Sanford writing a big check. Did you also notice that it was Innovis that discontinued the contract? I have no doubt that your AD would turn down a check from Sanford and continue with Altru. :D

Also, yes Innovis did discontinue the contract but they only did so because they finally realized that a contract means about as much to Gene Taylor as the paper it is written on. I'm sure he had only nice things to say about Innovis while he was agreeing to meet all of Sanfords demands to get that check that hasn't even been written yet. Would you want to continue to provide services for someone who does business that way? Not saying either is right or wrong but you trying to paint Innovis as the bad person in this is laughable.

Jealous of what??? Congrats, ndsu got someone to donate some money to help with a stadium renovation that has been needed for the last ten years. Not exactly earth shattering stuff. It happens everywhere including Grand Forks. I'm actually suprised you couldn't get a law firm down there to write the check with all the business Coach Bohl has brought into Fargo in the last year. Maybe thats where the money for the football office remodel came from. :D:lol:

  4. This is the absolute downside to becoming DI and needing to get the leftover not quite up to par athletes, i.e., those that don't have freakishly great talent, but are

still good athletes with defective charactor. Many of those athletes are left over for a reason, wonderful, both the Sioux and Bison get to recruit and land big city criminal elements, great for the communities and for the children that see them as role models. No one can argue with the simple fact that these are the type of athletes we will get to watch, myself, I've seen the big city kids and am not impressed. I would much rather watch some local fundamentally sound charactor athletes, but that's not what the big DI-AA will bring us. So not only won't the Sioux or Bison win national titles, but we will get subpar student athletes. Get used to the trend. I will take the drinking hell raising hockey boys over all the out-region athletes..

Wow. Tell me you where either kidding or drinking with your hell raising hockey boys before you typed this.

  5. Kelly was hired because he was the best applicant for the job. Almost every person involved in the interview process felt he was the best choice. Where did you get the idea he was hired for the D1 move? He was not. That is ultimelately his responsibility but only a small part. What does his support for the Summit have to do with the move? The Summit League didn't stick UND with this and UND has to bring the logo/Sioux issue to a conclusion regardless of the Summit. Have you spoken with him? Why don't you do that? He is very accessible. He was at the Frozen Five in his Sioux Logo Jersey speaking with whomever talked to him. What exactly do you think "UND leadership" should be doing? Is there someone who thinks the successful resolution of this rests anywhere other than the tribal governments?

If you don't think UND has tried to reach out to the tribal governments then you haven't been paying attention. The SBoHE has also tried to reach out. That is what the NCAA set up.

Are you against the D1 move? We would be with the U of Mary's, U of Mn. Crookston's,, Moorhead State's (MSUM) etc. It cost us over $1,000,000 the last 4 Frozen Four years. Are you under the impression the hockey coaches are against the D1 move? I thought staying D2 for other sports other than hockey was a better fit until the NCAA diluted D2 and it is now a glorified D3. The flagship university of the state should be a D1 school. We once were in the same division as Northern Iowa, Montana, UNLV, Boise State etc. We should have moved up when UNI and Montana did years ago. Even if we stayed D2, we would still need to resolve this.

The debate on the issue is full of so much misinformation about what our UND officials have the authority to do. It is hard to debate the issue when too many people don't have the facts. It is like the people who keep criticizing the natives for getting a

    "free" education.

Kelly's most important task is not keeping the name. He job is to communicate to the tribes that UND still would like to keep the name and will continue to support NA progams and if the name is kept continue to use it with respect and class. He just like Presidents Starcher, Clifford, Baker and Kupchella have no authority over the tribal governments and neither does the SBoHE any more than you or I.

    Very solid post.

  6. Wow I never saw Taylor's quote before this. Maybe he should be concerned because out of the above list of 9 ndsu coaches spent time with 7 of them during recruiting.

But like you said star, this is just the media picking on poor ndsu.

  7. if georgia state can get alabama in their first year ever playing footbal, it kind of makes me think und and ndsu haven't been trying hard enough to schedule good fbs teams.

texas tech is alright, but they're no alabama.

Playing a team like Alabama would be nice but two things:

    1) I think a program wants to keep the FBS teams they schedule within their recruiting boundaries. Helps with name recognition.

    2) the day that Sioux (or whatever the nickname is) football is ready for a program like Alabama will be a great day to be a UND football fan. I think programs need to also schedule smart as they have a full season to play after that game.

  8. How did my arguement go beyond anything. How did I argue for "protection of the program"? You provided no proof other than your unnamed sources. Like I said if I had a dollar for everytime someone quoted unnamed sources on a message board and ended up being wrong I'd be a rich man. Also there is such a thing as due process. Also Ster2idiot you still haven't provided anylink to any news source stating the Fargo PD was at any Bison Football practices. For that matter of the 11 people named in the article 8 or 9 of them have nothing to do with the football program. That doesn't exonerate those players listed that are in the program. Football player or not it's inexcusable behavior. I'm not protecting anyone just using common sense that says people are allowed due process. If found guilty they will suffer the penalties as they should. For those who want to cast stones your turn is coming as surely as the sun will rise tomorrow. If you think you will never see another student athlete get in trouble up at UND you are dumber than I thought.

I agree with you but its funny how when that UND athlete is in trouble BV and bison fans will pile on and it will be ok. When the shoe is on the other foot than you call into question UND fans intelligence.

  9. I'm glad you guys got yourselves a good radio deal, it sounds like a good deal anyway.

But please do keep it in perspective: how many homes are gathering around the family radio for a good listen, these days?

Probably a lot more when UND is playing. :glare::D

  10. With the nickname change, there won't be nearly the donations coming in. Who's going to pony up? Phil Jackson?

IMHO the nickname sets this back 5-10 years.

I disagree was well. I know the communication with a lot of the major donors for this project has been going on for some time and they've covered everything with these people, including the possible name change. Name change won't set it back.

  11. I'll guess SDSU too, given all the "clues".

Seems even more likely now with the UND-ndsu negotiations at a stalemate, and with USD-ndsu having already been scheduled. It would make sense anyways.

Thats my thoughts as well. Just looking at SDSU's schedule for last year they could really use another home game. It would be a nice get for UND as well as it will be a nice boost for local recruiting to go beat the most successful 1AA team in the region.

  12. I think that Tom Douple and the Summit League Officials have read this board and they realize that UND isnt a basketball school and that und fans have continually ripped on the summit league over the years. I can see Tom Douple saying "we dont want all of this media attention and anti-sioux rallies' and jerseys in our league" just my 2 cents. plus threads like this will further emphazise this dilemma.

If you believe that Douple is sitting in his office right now reading Siouxsports or BV than

    you128651021377679289.jpg

Stay classy though and keep coming on here trying to stir the pot when you have no dog in this fight.

  13. Wrong...Summit does not sponser football. I'm not sure why Faison doesn't want an every other year contract, but the nickname is not the reason why.

I believe its because until ndsu actually fills their schedule for next year and the year after and the year after with 6 home games like Taylor says he will do than UND and Faison still hold a little bit of negotiating power. Right now Faison looks a little silly but he is also the one who has to schedule 7 non conference games per year. He can decide every other year is the way to go anytime he wants. Taylor is not going to pull that offer. If he says no but still doesn't have his schedules filled for more than 2 or 3 years out than who looks silly. It doesn't hurt UND and Faison to hold out. If Taylor can only schedule a DII or lower this year for a 6th home game people are going to have to ask why he didn't take UND's every year offer.

Now back to SR deciding its best to drop the nickname.

  14. All they are doing is running out the clock, eventually enough time will have run out where everyone involved won't have to make an actual decision but they can tell everyone they tried. Which is BS but it is politics and that is the game they are playing.

I agree with this. Than UND will be left standing with no nickname and no conference. In my mind its apparent SR doesn't want to hold a vote and the higher ups at UND know how important conference affiliation is. Easiest way to satisfy both is just change it now. Than when SR tries to say we didn't give them enough time we can point at yesterday and ask them exactly how much time they need. They had a chance to take action and prove they truely wanted the name to remain but instead voted as they did.

  15. mpls bison is NOT a bison fan, nor a summit fan. Im a summit league fan for mens and women's, and I don't want und in the league, I didnt want usd either, but alas, they probably both will get in, because tom douple said "dont schedule und til nickname is gone" but they have all scheduled them. *sigh* I know he is frustrated, and either way, the nickname is still an anchor for und.

Pretty sure that was just Taylor's excuse. Than Douple came out and said he never told schools not to schedule them, he just wasn't going to consider UND for conference affiliation until the nickname was resolved. It was just another excuse by Gene Taylor that was proven to be a lie.

  16. The receiver situation will be very interesting to watch. If Bamba doesn't make it back, we could possibly see the top three receivers being a couple of red-shirt freshmen (Hardin and Townsend), and a true freshman (McGill). That's not to say that the upperclassmen should be written off, but they will need to improve significantly from last season in order to stay ahead of the young players IMO.

Very true. I'd like to see Bamba back cause I think he will have some very good weapons across the field. We where really lacking that this past year.

He just has to get a little bit of his attitude in check though. Its a team game and I'm glad Muss is giving him some time to realize that.

  17. Are you guys having practices or what? Not much info in this thread about it. 1 article posted from the Herald, which I couldn't read, about a no huddle offense and that's it. I may not be a Sioux football fan but I still like to see what sort of team you guys are fielding this year. College hockey is over and you're not playing the Bison this year, so let's see some updates. Thanks.

The team will be better. Young but better all around. Changing both offensive and defensive philosophy a little bit.

Next years team is going to be young but we have some very, very good young players who are getting better this spring. Overall things are going good but its still only spring so I don't think most on here are going to pound our chest about how good this team is going to be or how good individuals are going to be.

  18. 250 fans? geesh, no one cares about und in the ndsu circles im afraid. wouldnt the bisonville crazies go to a game if they REALLY wanted to play und in all sports.

the litmus test has failed, ndsu has 2 good baseball players Wentz & Kline, thats it. So its not a big deal.

Yep, game in the cities on Easter holiday. Thats a real nice barometer on how people in Fargo feel about the game. That game used to draw maybe 100 when it was at Newman and half of them where Sioux fans.
