  1. I'm a season ticket holder, a Sioux alum and love taking our little guy to Sioux football games. I didn't drive up for the game this weekend. Not cause I had something going on but because I wasn't going to drive up for a 40 point blowout. I know 15 others at work that were in the same boat and I talked to five people in Grand Forks who didn't bother going to the game. I don't hunt but if I did, I would have picked phesants over this game. This had everything to do with quality of opponent. I agree with darrell, Sioux Falls may be the same thing.

That being said, the boys have a better record heading into the buy than most expected. Use the week to get healthy, get better and finish the season the way we now expect you to.

  2. Coach Lennon and much of his coaching staff at SIU did a lot for UND but he made his decision and moved on. I wish him well but like Herd said he isn't coming back. The kids on this team play for the current coaching staff and the team is having a great year. I really don't know why threads like this are warrented.

  3. Officially? The league released the (official) conference schedules already, which included UND. They are "officially" in the league on those dates, until the league "officially" kicks them out, not the other way around.

Matt, don't go throwing facts at Johnny. Its a little over his head.

  4. This will not happen. UNC is horrid. You guys need to get rid of this thread. If Muss get the Sioux playing a hard nosed running game with some great line play......the Sky will not know how to handle it.

This. I think the change of offense back to the more smash mouth style was big this year. We have a young O-line that is making nice strides weekly. And some good, young skill guys to go along with them. It is just a better fit for our personel.

  5. I get concerned when I hear Mussman on the news say "we need to keep things in front of us". I hope that doesn't mean playing off the receivers and guard against the long ball. I guess we will see tomorrow what that means. I would hope that we would be able to compete with another FCS team in athletes and be able to pick our spots to be aggressive.

You got your answer today. Defense played very well today. The whole team played well today and everyone did what they needed to. This young team is growing up. Young guys are making plays.

  6. The whole story is you are ranked 24th in the poll that everyone on AGS laughs at and ridicules for being completely out of touch. That is not bison fans, that is all fans throughout FCS football who are in the know. You then ranked 40th in the poll that fans on AGS consider to be the true poll. That is the whole story, but i guess everyone is too busy writing newpaper articles and slapping each other on the back to know the whole story about the coaches poll.

Then, you fell 3 spots in this formentioned coaches after a 50 point win. How does that happen? That coaches poll is somthing else, you have teams who win by 50 free falling, team dropping out of the top 10 on bye weeks, and you have teams jumping 20 spots after toe to toe moral victories. You did ask for the whole story.

Who votes in the AGS poll? I had no problem with us dropping after a win over BHS. It didn't impress anyone and said nothing about where our team was at. You can only be judged by how you do against the teams you play, not by last years results. I believe the term that is used is strength of schedule. That is why I have no problem with shifting early on in the polls. Some teams have played some quality teams, others have played cupcakes. Its things that sort themselves out as the season goes on. Win quality games and everything else takes care of itself.

Having you coach throw a fit, your media writing articles and probably e-mailing coaches around FCS and your fans whining like 4th graders shows how much you care about the coaches poll. If it wasn't that big of deal, it really wouldn't have mattered right and all the attention wouldn't have been needed?

  7. I'm not sure on the score but Sioux willl win by 3

Special teams will be the difference as we are able to make some plays to get our offense into field position. Defense has to make them work their way down the field and not give up the big plays. Offense has to play ball control and not turn it over. O-line has to be as dominating tomorrow as they were 2 weeks ago.

    Good luck tomorrow boys.

  8. I usually read but don't post because I can a Bison fan that has no tie to the UND/NDSU rivalry (I moved to the F/M area in '04). But for you to boast that UND will overtake NDSU as the better football school is rather foolish. Tell me how many REAL FBS wins does UND have under their belt? Does UND even have a winning percentage against FBS teams? How well has UND done against FCS teams (don't count Drake, they are a non-scholly team)? Do you even know that UND might get kicked out of the Big Sky if the ND legislature does not remove the law stating that UND can keep their nick-name? Anyways when in the last 5 years has UND out recruited NDSU in North Dakota. Last year the two biggest recruits (Carson Wentz and Andrew Okland) chose NDSU over UND. I know that the year before that UND tried recruiting Esley Thorton, and Thorton chose NDSU over UND. Mussman wishes he could be Craig Bohl. Biggest difference between the two teams (and their fans) is that NDSU expects to win against FBS schools, and UND is okay with any moral victory they can get. I also get a kick that you cling so dearly to UND's 1 D II National Championship, you must have forgotten that NDSU has 7 more of those than UND. But of course our championships are in the past, but last time I checked so was yours. Just so you are aware NDSU is not taking anything for granted, even when (or may be if) you get into the Big Sky, the Missouri Valley Conference is tougher because there is a higher amount of tough physical competition. Best of luck to UND, I still doubt that UND will leap frog NDSU, you'll need a FCS caliber coaching staff and FCS caliber players to do that.

Thanks for your interest in UND football. Another fan who doesn't care, but still reads and posts.

  9. Molberg was a good get, Bohl is mad the team dropped(a significant amount of spots) without playing game which was bizarre since teams that also didn't play a game jumped NDSU. I don't think he really cares where UND or any other team is ranked for that matter.

So your telling me the polls would have been as big of a deal if UND wasn't ranked. Kolpack would have made as big of a deal about it, Bohl would have commented on it and bison fans would still be talking about it after two weeks and a win against Minnesota? Keep telling yourself that.

  10. Mollberg's commit pending Iowa offer. He is a great athlete, wish he would have decided on NDSU but oh well. He wouldn't have taken a snap at QB during his time in Fargo but no reason to think he couldn't get used in other ways. He is a good get for UND if Iowa decides not to offer. I still don't think Bohl is overly worried about UND. #1, different conferences. #2, Bohl has done a great job recruiting (minus a year or so), and #3, he has other things on his plate, such as the Missouri Valley.

Darrell, UND's history is just like any good program, they shouldn't be down for long but you never know, my Fighting Irish have been saying that since the Mid-90's. Another example is a team in Greely, Colorado. The jump to Division 1 has not been kind to what was a very proud program.

And there is the usual ndsu spin when it comes to recruits they didn't get. It only took two pages to get it. Now if only Kolpack would write an article about him getting the schools confused......

  11. There is a thread on your fan board, a write up in your local paper, a blog by a local media guy, a few quotes by your coach, and guys were coming out of the woodwork and looked pretty childish posting here. I'd say there were a few that were concerned about UND cracking the polls.

  12. WDAY-TV says it is a soft verbal to UND and he is still waiting on Iowa.

That is understood. This won't be the first or last time this happens with us playing college football at this level. You guys are making a bigger deal out of this than what it is.

  13. If any of you guys didn't read this article please do. I am very impressed by the quotes in the article. Very, impressive and great get for UND. Getting a guy like this can change a recruiting class. I know I read a few years ago with ndsu's class who are now sophmores or redshirt freshmen and how those guys called other recruits and swayed them that direction. That was a very good class for them that has a lot of contributors right now. Hopefully the signing of Molberg can do the same for us.

Welcome to UND Joe.....We are glad to have you.

  14. First good one in about 7 years. I doubt he'll be very impressed by Black Hills.

Well, its good he won't be playing in the game. I'm sure he is more than impressed by the Big Sky and our future schedules he'll actually be playing.

Ironic that the first one (according to you) in many years happens at the same time we get in a conference and both programs are now on equal footing. I'm sure that was something that was thrown around plenty in the past.

  15. Historically the Sioux have not been a crush them into submission team, very few 56-3 scores in school history. That's not to say we have not dominated teams on the field. I would like to see dominating offensive and defensive lines, some long down the field completitions, a couple of interceptions and super solid special teams - this of course lends itself to a lopsided score.

In the past when the Sioux were in their better days of D2 when they played inferior teams, such as Crookston, Morningside, etc. they were into crushing teams. Its only been the last couple years that this hasn't been the case. The talent level is much better now though.

  16. Black Hills State better be in for a hell of a beating. I'm usually all for sportsmanship, but I really hope that the team goes out and puts this game away early but doesn't back off. We are in the middle of trying to build a program for the BSC next year. We need to get everyone, especially the younger guys, as many reps as possible and have them play as if it is a playoff game.

Absolutely anything besides whether I should cheer for the Gophers or the Bison this weekend.

    Well said.....

I'm hoping everyone, from coaches all the way down to the last player on the roster learned their lesson a few years ago with Sioux Falls. Don't overlook anyone. The guys need a nice blowout to continue to build the confidence that Wyo was talking about and continue to pull it together come conference time. This better be a good game to get some reps, work on some timing etc., etc. But I did think the same thing about Drake. This team has improved dramatically since thta time.

    Go Sioux!!!

  17. Don't forget to head out to the world's largest French Fry Feed going on right now!!!

    Mmmmmm, I love Simplot fries.

P.S. The UND football team actually has a home game this weekend. Apparently nobody has noticed that yet.

I think people know and attendance is going to be good but what do you want to talk about? We play Black Hills. We better win by 30-40 points. I don't know what to talk about with this game and I think others are in the same boat.

  18. UND just posted another all-time record enrollment at 14,697, up about 3.5 percent or 503 students from the same time last year, which also was a record. :) The University also is reporting that there is a record number of students living in residence halls on campus, indicating that "on campus" enrollment is strong, and that the numbers aren't just smoke and mirrors with online students. (though, I would imagine that online education still is a strong initiative at UND... and there is nothing wrong with that!).

    Cue Kolpack.

  19. o wise one, tell us which college sport is nationally more popular than football and basketball.

Football is so nationally well known at your school that people everywhere are getting you confused with someone else. Boy, you guys have sure made a name for yourself. Football may be popular all across the country, but apparently no one knows who ndsu is. So your basically talking smack about a sport that your pretty irrelevant at.:lol:

  20. Funny thing is that all this "confusion" talk started with a tweet by Terry Vandrovec of the Argus Leader, who seemed miffed that SDSU was the lowest ranked of the four Dakota teams. Given their performance last Saturday night, perhaps that dubious distinction is deserved. And now, their starting quarterback has quit the team. It's looking like a potentially disastrous season in Brookings...

Kolpack proved how classy he is with his twitter response. I think his blog post was comical and I could sense the tears streaming down his cheeks while I was reading it. Than he gets someone to post on their public page what they their opinion on the blog and his response was straight class-

I expect it from fb fans, but now I'm getting !@#$ from an SID on a public domain.

So, he can share his views on his public domain, but when someone shares theirs, he cries even more. Jeff along with all bison fans had a pretty emotional day today and handled it with class ;) . For a team they don't care about anymore they are sure up in arms about this. Look how many came out of the woodwork to post here.

  21. I recognize that by playing a competitive game vs Fresno is a good accomplishment but never in modern history has a team dropped 6 spots by virtue of a bye. I think the fact that the 4 Dakota schools were all in the Great West is the root of the confusion.

This is hilarious. You guys probably would have been ranked preseason #1 if all these voters would not have confused the two schools. Last year, you probably would have had home field advantage in the playoffs if not for all the confused voters. Just think of the confusion next week when these voters get confused by us beating a school from South Dakota and you guys possibly beating the gophers. How do any of these voters walk and chew gum at the same time?

The funny part is can you imagine how many e-mails lakes and his cronies have sent these voters? If their fans are sending as classy of e-mails as I heard at work today or any of the postings on this board they are representing themselves great right now. I love the crying though and the idea that everyone believes the to schools were confused for one week and one week only. This is free comedy.

  22. I sure hope the guys on the team don't read this board. They play their hearts out and damn near beat a very good FCS football team and most of you guys come on here and berate their getting some recognition for their gutsy performance as some kind of name mixup.

They made us all proud Saturday night and deserve recognition and support for their effort.

No one here didn't recognize Saturday night as a great effort. Hopefully the guys on the team understand that they better prove to us that the effort they played with on Saturday night can be brought to every game from here on out. Just cause I'm a fan, doesn't mean I have to have a short memory. I want to know what Sioux team is going to show up the rest of the year, the one from Fresno or the one from Idaho. If any of the boys are reading this, they can use that as motivation if they really truely need it.

  23. Apparently AGS knows there are 4 teams in the Dakotas. NDSU didn't drop 6 spots during a bye, UND is ranked #40, and Poly is almost ranked, ans USD is #17. Mix up was only on the coaches poll.

So is ndsu not as relevant in the FCS world as your fans like to tell everyone? How could such a well known team be mistaken for someone else? I guess I never see Deleware being confused with Deleware St. or Montana and Montana St. being confused.

The only reason you think the AGS polls are relevant is cause it has the rankings you want. AGS is a bunch of fans ranking teams, I'm sure there is no bias in that. A team that has fans who have better things to do than be members of 5 different message boards are very well represented I'm sure. I'm not sure UND deserves the #21 ranking but I think its comical the spin ndsu fans immediately put on it. For a team they have moved on from and don't care about anymore a ranking next to their name sure fires them up. Don't worry gabe, I'm sure if you google more polls you'll probably find others that make you feel all warm and fuzzy again.:lol:

    This is great stuff.

  24. I LIKE HOW THE AC'S FIVE YEAR HEAD START IN D1 IS SLOWLY OR QUICKLY? GOING AWAY: VBALL (CHECK), BASEBALL (CHECK), FOOTBALL (HOPE GENE "I WAS ALWAYS PICKED LAST" TAYLOR IS FOUND PASSED OUT IN FRONT OF THE ABC STORE SO HE LEAVES AND THIS SERIES CAN FINALLY BE RESUMED),MENS BASKETBALL (SIOUX WILL KILL THEM THIS YEAR) , SOCCER (WILL FIND OUT THIS WEEK), AND HOCKEY (OOPS WON'T GO THERE)!!!!!!!

Not sure about that. We seriously are in need of a big that can stay healthy.
