  1. UND commit John Santiago's senior highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/814437/highlights/194134375

Granted the competition is somewhat suspect, but he certainly doesn't shy away from contact and it takes more than an arm to take him down.  He makes one move at the line and then it's off to the races.  I could see him in a 3rd down back role.

That is an impressive highlight tape.  Kid doesn't shy away from contact.  Most high school players with his speed look to beat people to the edge but he isn't afraid to cut things up.

  2. A couple things I noticed

    1) He plays to the whistle and has a nasty side to him that is missing from a lot of the current hogs.

    2) He is affective in run-blocking as was especially effective when asked to pull

He has some work to do in his pass protection as it certainly wasn't nearly as impressive as his run blocking was, and he could also benefit from another 15-20 lbs on his frame. I could honestly see him as a center or guard in our system.

It is refreshing to see an offensive line commit with speed and technique that needs more size. I always hated how Mussman would recruit guys that already had the size but couldnn't move. You can add size with proper development, speed isn't nearly as easy.

Grady, Rooney, Williams and now Merz fit the mold of agile guys who have room to add weight. Good to see.

    Welcome to UND Justus.

  3. Three of our verbals from the Twin Cities were just named to the All-Metro team by KARE11, the local NBC affiliate. They are:

    • Harry Momoh, LB from Hopkins
    • Carl Engwall, DE from Lakeville North
    • John Santiago, RB from St. Francis
    Defense: http://www.kare11.com/story/sports/high-school/2014/11/14/kare-all-metro-defense-kare-11-2014/18969943/

    Offense: http://www.kare11.com/story/sports/high-school/2014/11/14/all-metro-offense-2014-kare-11/18972507/

Good looking crew of players. Congrats to all three.

  4. if you think McFeely is pro-NDSU, you should probably lay off the dope for a while.

Show me how he is not. Craig Bohl and Gene Taylor slapped him on the wrist a few years ago and now he would blow every person with power on the FU campus. FU fans like yourself don't like when he reports news from campus however if they did any digging there would be a lot more to report but they might get grounded from practice if they do.

  5. Apparently Mc Feeley has been talking about how bad UND's football situation is. Doesn't it seem like their would of been another topic on the football scene in Fargo that he would of been more worried about today. I guess that is called deflecting attention away from the big story that happened over the weekend. If I am not mistaken I think the Bison football team got it handed to them this weekend. I don't think the injury ridden UND football teams 12 point loss this weekend was the major story of the weekend.

The fu athletic dept. controls the media in Fargo. Dont write anything negative or you might get grounded from attending practice.

Worse part is they don't even check numbers before posting but whatever makes UND look bad.

  6. I've been hearing the team did not look good in the scrim vs msum. anyone else hear that?

If be interested in the details. Anyone can play in scrimmages. What were the lineups? Who played and didn't, etc.. Losing what we lost, I expect early season struggles with some ugly games. Take a page out of the hockey book and be ready to go after Xmas.

  7. FU lost to a good football team yesterday. No shame in that.

I'm hoping that the selection committee learned from last year and let more 4 loss teams in from too conferences. Lots of good teams in the valley and big sky currently sitting with 4 losses.

  8. Bet Ferguson and Young are either wishing they had stayed or are laughing at Bubba's and Rudolph's struggles. Or, maybe Rudolph wishes he wasn't such an ass. Someone liked his play calling?!?!? Come on.....you have to throw early rather than waiting for obvious passing situations with the young QB and average OL. Too many time this year it has been run....run....pass....punt. Anyone on this board could call those plays.

A ton of dropped balls yesterday put us in tough down and distances. Our WR had a hard time getting off the line yesterday. It didn't matter if it was first or third down. I didn't think the play calling was bad yesterday. I also think Rudolph is a good coach.

  9. Everyone knows the difficulties this team has faced this year. No need for me to recount them here. That's why I picked Weber to win this game. Not because Weber is a good team. They are not a good team. They were winless coming into GF. 0-9. Zero wins.

This is not about Weber, or the next two likely losses vs NAU and UNC.

This is about the absolute disaster this season has become for UND.

Were you sitting in section 215 today?

  10. I actually like the play calling this season. Just don't have the talent to execute it most of the time right now, especially now with the ridiculous number of injuries.

The one thing that is missing that I don't understand is a screen pass. When you have limited talent at WR, proper execution of screen passes can mask a lot of problems.........

I would have loved to see screen in the 4th quarter when Weber was sending about 8 guys every play.

  11. I can assure you we wont cancel the Midco contract....to big of a buy out plus I heard the money is already spoken for

so hockey wont be on FSN for 2 years......UNLESS this FSN deal pissed of Midco and they want to end ties with UND

The additional coverage will only drive up the price for the next contract.  Midco is not the only one knocking on UNDs door.

  12. If those comments are true you have to wonder what the mood of the locker room (players) is about the whole situation.

If you tell a coach you are leaving after the season, why would he keep you around?  If I was another player, this would let me know that the coaching staff is again making decisions based on what is best for the team.  It would have been easy to keep around one of the best offensive players knowing he was leaving but whats the point.  Also, if he is leaving, why keep him around the locker room?
