  1. I talked to Gary at Cashwise tonight. We were both standing together in the checkout line. He was eyeing the chicklets; me the rolos! Anyway, I asked him about the new show on CBS starring that dude from Northern Exposure and that other guy that plays a math genius. He was pretty stoked. He told me he crunched the numbers and it showed that CC was in first and that UND was fighting for home ice. I said, "dude, you really know your hockey!" We had a good laugh. That Gary, he seems like quite a guy.
  2. It doesn't help that you watched the game at Sal's in Cando!
  3. It is quite compliment and Greene will be quite a pro!
  4. I missed most of Fargo Sioux Boosters this week, thus no recap from me, but I caught a very small portion of Berry's comments and he indicated that UND will likely go with one goalie down the stretch and that will probably be determined very soon. Perhaps the decision has been made . . . .
  5. That being said, Todd Anderson is still a terrible referee. The players at this level and the fans cheering them on deserve better. Perhaps that could be said about a lot of refs, past and present, but this guy really does a disservice to the game, in my opinion.
  6. Mankato's AD was interviewed during FSN's pregame tonight and thought the numbers would be around $130,00o, which he said would put back into the hockey program, for the most part. btw, what's the deal with the Gopher's giving up 6 goals to Mankato? Good to see!
  7. Except for the Brule kid at #6 the top 30, at a minimum, are hoovering around 6'0" and 200 lbs. or both. Lee is both. Scouts will tell you that they look for potential and one of the biggest things they look at is size. Lee seems to fit the bill. I look forward to seeing him in the green and white.
  8. He will sign, no question! I hope I am wrong, but I cannot foresee him coming back.
  9. There is no chance Greene will be back. He will likely sign the day UND's season ends.
  10. With all due respect to some of the members of POI, if the above were true, the Gophers would be hurting for players year in and year out.
  11. This seems like a good spot to post the following: During the WJ tournament in Grand Forks, Buffalo Sabres Western Amateur Scout Darryl Plandowski talked with Hockey
  12. It is interesting that Duncan was a MVP when it doesn't appear that he scored any goals, in what clearly was a very offensive game. Lots of assists perhaps?
  13. driveforshow, is that you? btw, sufan, the wink was for your benefit so you would pick up the sarcasm. There must be something in the water today . . . . I do have to know though, if future recruits don't give a rip what I think (and they shouldn't), and I am a regular poster here, then your first post that said "cheap talk about Hakstol and the posts slamming players ought to be real good for future recruits like Toews" makes absolutely no sense. Which is it, they care or they don't! NOTE the lack of sarcasm!
  14. If recruits based their decision on the quality of posts from message boards like this one, the Gophers would be without a team!
  15. Okay, I will spell it out for you because obviously, you still don't get it. I don't think Hakstol is a chump. I don't agree with people not giving him a chance and already calling for his head. I DO think he can be successful at this level and hope that he is. I DO think he should be commended for bringing in such a bigtime recruit, ESPECIALLY considering the pressure Tri-City was presumably applying to the Toews family. And I am not a coach, but If I did coach I would make you skate 25 lightings/Herbies'/lines, whatever you call them, for replying to a post you clearly had not read and understood.
  16. And we all know those phantom points were the ONLY reason UND won the national championship that year!
  17. Whoosh!!! Man, the sure it throwing people for a loop today! Thanks for not only missing the sarcasm and point, but also for putting me in my place!
  18. You mean give credit to that chump Hakstol for bringing in a top-of-the-line recruit. Haven't you heard, he doesn't have what it takes to be successful at this level and certainly can't be given credit for Toews!
  19. 2000-2001!!! The "myth" ?? Personally, I like to live in the now! The following is a post from POI reprinted with the author's consent: ------------------------- In the last two years involving Sioux/Goph games at the REA, UND has outscored the Gophers 16-14 and here are how the assists break down: UND 16 goals 7 with two assists 44% 7 with one assist 2 unassisted UMN 14 goals 10 (yes, 10) with two assists 71% 3 with one assist 1 unassisted It always cracks me up when people make sweeping statements without knowing the FACTS. ------------------------- and they still don't get it . . . . . . It is pretty sad when Woog (as funny as he can be in his own way) makes a typical comment, without a factual basis, and the majority of Gopher fans like what they hear, they embrace it and preach it. There was a play during the Gopher holiday tourney against Merrimack, for crying out loud, when UM scored and only one assist was credited due to a shot off the goalie before the goal scored and when the scoring was announced, Woog says something like, gee, only one assist, if this game was in GF everybody would've gotten an assist, hahaha. Gopher fans can now spend their time on collegehockeystats and ushco trying to prove their point - so be it - but the bottom line is the numbers printed above are facts directly related to Gopher hockey in GF over the last two years. They "myth" has been disspelled and needs to be put to rest.
  20. I believe Josh Olson from Roseau verballed a few years back before going the MJ route. He plays for San Antonio in the AHL and played in 5 games for the Florida Panthers last season.
  21. Thanks again for taking the time to share the information with us. Although I couldn't hear DH's tone, this comment is troubling to me. All losses should bother the coach. Just because another team was playing well and was somewhat desperate shouldn't make the loss more acceptable. With playoffs looming and the battle for position ongoing, most teams, especially with the logjam in the WCHA, are playing desparation hockey and more times than not teams are going to play well against top teams like the Sioux. That is the nature of athletics and should never make a loss less bothersome. I am most definitely not on the bash Hakstol bandwagon, but I could live without hearing this type of comment from the coach.
  22. McMahon made a comment earlier this season that those who think Hakstol isn't intense and capable of causing fear in his players, don't know Hakstol at all.
  23. And I agree with that. It seems to be a catch-22. Sioux fans (some anyway) are calling his play disappointing, likely due to preseason expectations because of the hype. But who should he replace in the lineup, probably nobody; but how will he improve if he doesn't play, he won't! Tough situation. I haven't given up on him though and look forward to him being a solid contributor in the year's ahead. btw, off topic, but related to Radke, has anybody else noticed how short his stick is - it looks like it is about two feet long? That thing wouldn't come up to Greene's waist.
