  1. Is this due to the injury he is recovering from or is it for a different reason? If injury-related, how close is he to being fully healed?

  3. Well said (am I really saying that about one of rw77's posts ). It is a simple statement, but a very accurate assessment.
  4. Row A is on the glass. And if you were standing on the ice looking at your section, seats are numbered left to right.
  5. I agree completely. I have nothing against Parise, when he is on he is very good and he was definitely on in the first period tonight. But, he does have a tendency most games to let up a weak goal and that happened again tonight. Sadly, it was a big factor in UND losing the game. I agree he was not solely responsible for the loss, but a big difference in tonight's game was goaltending. Offensively UND was not buzzing until the last 6 or 7 minutes, but it is hard to argue with the roughly 40 shots on net. Bottom line, Lawson outplayed our netminder (tip of the hat to Lawson for his outstanding performance tonight). On the positive side, it was imperative for UND to get 9 or 10 points out of the last three series and they managed to get 10 of the 12 possible and seem to be playing a lot better than earlier this season. Also, during the postgame, MG showed some emotion and was clearly displeased with UND's performance tonight. It is good to hear that the leaders of the team are frustrated and upset by the loss. When the players are unaffected by losing, big problems exist. I got the sense from MG that that is anything but the case at this point.
  6. RI, kudos on one of the best and most accurate posts on this board in months.
  7. Brennans keep battling By Jeff Kolpack,The Forum Published Friday, December 03, 2004 GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The University of North Dakota football team heads to Kansas today with a couple of Brennan brothers who share everything from school to injuries. Junior noseguard Ross Brennan and sophomore linebacker Steve Brennan are continuing a football/school combination that began as kids in West Fargo. "It's nice to have him around to share in my memories," Ross said. There's been a lot to share this season. The Sioux (11-2) play at Pittsburg State on Saturday in the NCAA Division II semifinals. It will be a particularly tough test for the Sioux defense, which will try to slow down a Pittsburg offense that has been one of the most prolific in college football history. "Hopefully we'll be able to stop the run and make them a one dimensional team," Steve said. "That's what we try to do every week." Every week has been a battle for the Brennans. Steve broke a bone in his hand earlier this year and is playing with a cast. Ross broke a bone in his foot during fall practice and has been trying to play through it ever since. He's played in just five games. At least as roommates, together they have enough healthy limbs -- Ross' arms and Steve's legs. "That's how we get by," Steve said. But they don't talk about it. It's the one topic that is off limits around the house. "It's funny, we hash out the games at home a lot," Ross said outside the team's locker room. "We probably talk more about football there than we do here." Ross was a highly recruited defensive lineman/fullback who was the 1999 North Dakota Class 3A senior player of the year. After a redshirt season, he started the first five games of 2001 before a knee injury ended his year. He played in nine of xx games last year recording 38 tackles. He sat out last year to rehabilitate the 2001 injury that he said never did fully heal. "I played through it in 2002 but it seemed like I couldn't play to my full capabilities," he said. Steve is putting together a solid season as the backup to outside linebacker Brook Maier. Steve has 29 tackles -- five for lost yardage -- and one quarterback sack. "He's really come around," Ross said. "He's getting better every game. He's always been a good player but I think he's turned into a great player."
  8. Forum article: NDSU in lead for Mertens By Jeff Kolpack,The Forum Published Friday, December 03, 2004 North Dakota State appears to be the leader in the clubhouse to land Nick Mertens. But the University of Minnesota may have something to say before Mertens' recruiting round is complete. The Minnesota Player of the Year from East Grand Forks said he wants to play football at the highest level possible and NDSU could be the only full scholarship offer on the table. "I had it narrowed down but I'm hoping to get a few more calls now," Mertens said. Asked what his reaction would be if the Gophers came calling, Mertens said, "Yeah, it would be a dream if they asked me to come down and play. But I would have to see how well I fit in there." The Bison have found a recruiting fit in South Dakota. Ryan Schuttloffel, a 6-foot-7, 293-pound lineman from Sioux Falls Roosevelt, gave NDSU a verbal commitment. He played defense in high school, but Roosevelt head coach Brent DeBoer said NDSU will probably play Schuttloffel on the offensive line. "For his size, he's a pretty quick kid," DeBoer said. Schuttloffel's word comes after Yankton High lineman Gerry Ebel, 6-7 and 315 pounds, gave NDSU a commitment. "They got two of the biggest kids in our state," DeBoer said. Mertens is the biggest prospect in the area. His appearance in the state finals may have gotten him more exposure. The University of Buffalo (N.Y.) called Wednesday, said East Grand Forks head coach Bruce Nelson. Former NDSU assistant Andy Rondeau is an assistant at Buffalo. NDSU, the University of North Dakota and St. Cloud (Minn.) State are in the mix, Nelson said. "That's where it stands right now," Nelson said. "But I think a few more things are going to happen as time goes on." Mertens, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound quarterback, is considered the area's top college prospect. He led the Green Wave to a 14-0 record and a Minnesota Class 3A state championship.
  9. Since I opened my big mouth about Potulny and Irmen without knowing what I was talking about, I am wondering what the cut-off date of birth is for this year's wj tournament.
  10. Try POI, they are very accepting and forgiving!
  11. You are right - considering the wife's name really is Mary Jo - I don't think a comma would've helped! Billy Powers
  12. Marty, P&L is yanking your chain (even if a Krenshaw's exists). Clearly, he has been blowing smoke from his very first post. He is probably just Siouxrock using a different name and now he is back to torment the users of this board. I am guessing he won't have a real long stay here.
  13. You mean, Mary Jo, right? Susan must be her nickname!
  14. As always, thanks, PCM! Good news about Murray. Hopefully, he is back close to full speed for the Duluth series.
  15. I believe it is the type of jersey you have been seeking. Last time I was at the Fargo Scheel's (about a month ago) they had a rack with all three colors available. They had knocked about 25% off the price and were selling for approximately $75.00.
  16. Lefty, is that you?
  17. I am just wondering how many times he's slipped up and called Betsy June or vice versa.
  18. Tidbits from minnesotahockeyjournal.com's most recent quick facts: Sens rookie Brandon Bochenski is ranked 12th amongst rookies with 5 goals and 5 assists in 16 games. Zach Parise is 4th in scoring by AHL rookies with 5 goals and 10 assists in 17 games for the Rats. Travis Roche has found the scoring touch with the Wolves that he lacked with the Wild and their affiliate Houston Aeros that caused them to release the former Fighting Sioux defenseman. He is ranked 6th in scoring by defensemen in the AHL with 6 goals and 8 assists in 17 games for the Wolves. Roche also has a +/- rating of +10. Brad DeFauw is the leading scorer of the V
  19. That is because they are each others' main rivals under the current system.
  20. I could see Brandt's lack of playing time being an issue if UND's goaltenders weren't faring well up to this point, but that is not the case. Goals against overall - 2.31 per game Goals against league - 2.33 per game, which ranks third, .17 from being the best in the league. As fans of the TEAM what more could a person ask for from the position?
  21. Hello pot, meet kettle. Maroon is a color - moron is someone who talks smack by calling a person a color.
  22. I hear Jordy is a very talented player and he must be to crack Moorhead's lineup as a sophomore.
  23. It takes a lot of courage for a person, especially a teenager, to publicly discuss their trials and tribulations. Thanks for sharing the story.
