  1. Enlighten me - Bubba had more years to go on the contract that was current at the time. When that period ended the contract was done and a new one was needed. It did not go on in perpetuity. I used the word "up" in the same context as "time's up". What word should I have used to indicate this? You know exactly what I meant. This is your take-away from this thread?
  2. We have a program where a 5-6 coach who was 47-40 over 8 seasons was extended before his contract was up - and the 5-6 season involved some of the worst game management ever. Said coach is extremely adverse to change. How do you think the 23 season is going to go?
  3. Babich was 46-22 and fired after one bad season (before that season he was 44-14). Bubba on the other hand was extended after going 47-40 and 5-6 in his latest season while giving us perhaps the worst game coaching we have ever seen during that season - even though his contract was not up. That's why each team is where they are right now.
  4. A lot of this should be on Chaves. The last time Bubba made a meaningful change was getting rid of Rudy after 5 years. This is exactly what we will always get with Bubba. Can you think of an overall lower point for Sioux athletics than this year - Hockey is average, Men's and Women's BB and Volleyball are all just past the dumpster fire stage and here we are again in Football. With programs like that we must therefore extend Chaves.
  5. If last year was worthy of an extension this should be worthy of a double extension using Chaves logic
  6. Why can't we get a good goalie prospect (like Chrona from Denver) and have solid tending for 3-4 years. With Karl we should be able to develop a youngster. Can't say I'm in favor of how we seem to be recruiting this position.
  7. How many times have we seen Berry's "system" turn high scoring recruits into so-so college players. If this is a common perception among potential recruits it is way more devastating to our recruiting efforts than NIL or other teams catching up in facilities. Remember when recruits wanted to come here because they knew it was the best place to develop into NHL players (think Parise for example). The staff needs to rethink things and fast.
  8. Conference Championships are nice but not our ultimate goal. Duluth and Denver have found a way to get it done twice each since we won a Natty. We on the other hand have won 1 tournament game. Remember when we used to mock the Gophers for winning the Big 10 and then flaming out in the tournament. Well, that's us now. As for this year - wow - to watch a game is to be frustrated. It's not just the record it's how we are playing. Can't hold a lead in the third to save our butts. Add in our recruiting losses and here we are.
  9. Not saying fire Berry - but after 1 NCAA win since 2016 and looking at how we play this year and considering how our recruiting has gone it is clear we need some changes and I am not very confident any will be made. I was trying to point out that there doesn't appear to be much accountability for coaches coming from the AD's office. Watching both the Football and Hockey teams this weekend was brutal. If you look at our major sports - Men's and Women's BB, Volleyball, Football, and Hockey this has to be one of the lowest overall periods in UND athletics.
  10. Well, if the AD's handling of the Football program is any indication we can expect a contract extension.
  11. Probably - but according to the "Bubba Extension Factor" put forward by our AD there is absolutely no pressure to produce a winner. Look at the overall state of UND athletics and I can't remember a time when things were worse overall.
  12. All of those - and our AD thinks this is grounds to extend. That's the big problem.
  13. Hell - this performance may just get him another extension

    Miami @ UND

You are correct on the recruiting battles - If this staff can't sell what we have going it's going to be a long drought.
  15. Remember when we used to mock the Gophers for winning the Big 10 and then flaming out in the playoffs? Well, that's us now.
  16. Denver won an championship last year and promptly reloaded. The difference between the two teams on Saturday was stunning. We saw things from this team I never would have guessed would come from our program - A lack of development across the board, what appears to be poor conditioning, horrible puck skills especially passing, an underperforming freshman class, and undisciplined play. Add in horrible line combos and a really poor defense and here we are. This cannot continue.
  17. Don't forget Quinnipiac
  18. It's sad that when both teams were at full strength it often looked like Denver was on a power play.
  19. I recognize that you are working hard and have hard work to do as almost every program bottomed out recently and many are now on the upswing. I Hear what you are saying about calling for a coaching change. However, after an extremely frustrating 5-6 season last year - complete with many poor coaching decisions here is all fans got from the Athletic Department - we are extending Bubba even though his contract is not up and by the way - hardcore fans can no longer stand and cheer on the team from the walkways.
  20. As usual you make your points well - I am glad that there is a group like you described who are trying to advance UND athletics. I think this fan board gets negative because 1 - It's a fan board and 2 - many feel absolutely left out and in the dark about anything that is going on behind the scenes - with little or no info from our AD. All we see is what's happening on the field or in the gym. Most of us are supporting Athletics as much as we can but cannot afford a seat at the table. Football gets the brunt of this because many are passionate about the sport. You have to admit it has been a frustrating 14+ years. I'm glad your group is all beer and skittles and sunshine but you need at least one realistic voice. If it supported extending Bubba and is discussing bringing back Women's Hockey then I'm not so sure it is the voice of reason (and in the latter case flogging a dead horse). The push for upgraded facilities has been a big positive. You seem to navigate both worlds well - please let your group know that there is a strong passion for winning programs here and many feel like a little more info or input would go a long way.
  21. So - either NDSU Athletic Directors expect more from their Football Coach or maybe the boosters put pressure on him to not tolerate mediocrity. Either way it's something we don't have. Why would one college fire an underperforming coach and another extend him? I think the fanbase expectations enter in.
  22. If you think for one minute that NDSU would put up with 6 years of Muss followed by 8 years of Bubba - and then extend him after a 5-6 season you are delusional.
  23. Tick tock = Bubba and company need to sort this out and we need to play with grit in the 3rd.
  24. It would help if we didn't have so much loud canned music.
  25. It's been mentioned before, but it was nice to see the Bison arrogance do them in. If their QB hadn't decided to taunt his opponents they go into the locker room up 28-7 and win the game. SDSU has shown us that the Bison are beatable at home - time for us to get it done too.
