Bob Ley did bring up the $1.9m yearly deficit and asked if this was a sustainable model. Heitkamp says the sport is new and that it needs to be given more time.
Outside the Lines: Fabled women's program....Did you know the team was practicing when the decision came down? And there was a recruit on campus....also lumped in the USA hockey story.
I was curious how Schloss got the exclusive on covering "the Letter" that the Lammy's sent to President Kennedy...that's got to be at least a couple million bucks/8 Olympians right there.
So the Lammy's want to keep hockey? That's fine. I noticed their letter doesn't really detail how this is supposed to happen money-wise. Must plan on using someone else's money.
Hard to believe it's been that long. A friend of mine, who was (and still is) on the Hobey committee at the time, said he was the best player in the country as a freshman. Guess he knew what he was talking about.
IIRC, Toews had just turned 17 when he arrived on campus for his freshman year. Pretty impressive for such a young player.
Wasn't he hurt part of his first year? Or was that the next year when Duncan won the Hobey? ("Best player in the country? I'm not even the best player on my line.")
Correct....although I thought maybe he gave it up at some point during the year so he could focus more on his goaltending duties.
EDIT: Looks like I should have hit Refresh before posting this. You guys are all over it.
