I certainly agree with your second paragraph. This has become a real concern over the last 8-10 years. We need to get back to the point where we expect to excel at everything we do.
I disagree with your comment about Pryor. Just because he opted to move back to Texas and take a VB job that will allow him much more time with his family does not mean he wasn't committed to UND!!
We have offered Jurjei Weems, a 6'1" forward from AAA champion DeLaSalle. She was named to the all-tourney team and made the AAA all-state team while averaging 16 ppg. It would be great to land her!
Offers to a couple of LBs from Pomona HS in Arvada, CO:
Kyle Moretti 6'1", 225 Has offers from UNC and Air Force
Sanjay Strickland, 6'2", 225 Has offer from UNC
From what I understand, there is nothing that should be read into Coach Pryor' resignation other than what has been published. He wanted more family time - family time back in Texas. I would guess the last couple of ND winters made the decision easier!
I would think the position should be attractive to some talented coaches. The program has been successful, we have an excellent facility for VB and attendance has been good.
I hope they take a close look at Jamie Magalei (Skadeland). Originally from Williston, she was a very good player at UND from 2001-4. She has been at Colorado School of Mines for 11 years. She has a 256-87 record with a bunch of conference titles and 10 straight years making the NCAA playoffs.
Three new offers:
WR/S Chase Perchal, 5'10“, 195, 4.6, Omaha (Millard), NE
WR Mason Armstead, 6'1“, 170, Omaha (Creighton), NE Has offer from SDSU
DE Max Meouwsen, 6'1”, 230, Green Bay (Port Bay), WI Has offers from Air Force & Navy
I agree - he wants to compete (and win) in all of our sports. He knows he has a lot of things to address - including where to find the $ to do many of the things that are necessary for us to compete and be successful.
Just read this and agree with so many of the comments. I never met sprig but certainly respected his posts. It was obvious he was a true-blue (green) UND fan! My condolences to the family. I am glad that ss.com was represented at his service.
