  1. VandeVelde - It is time I get past the first game!
  2. Siouxman

    dilema

This year's Final Five might not be as good as last year as we may not get to see Sioux-cia march around the Xcel Energy Center in her Holy Cross jersey with the Gopher band, unless the band comes even if their team doesn't.
  3. Obviously Frazee is just a little bit confused this year. Last year he gave up Bina's 180 footer. This year he gave up two 90 footers, so his distance is the same but he must think it is happy hour, you, know, two fer ones!!
  4. Oh, and you can tell it is Gopher week. This thread is already 13 pages long and it is still two days to the game.
  5. Its a tough situation for Lucia if you think about it. Assuming that Frazee's collapse was due to not being able to handle being the every game goalie, there is a risk that Kangas isn't ready for that either. If he rides Kangas for several games straight and then Kangas mentally struggles the Gophers are in deep hurt. He might be forced to try Frazee again for a game, prior to Kangas struggling, just to see if a rotation would work rather than risk having two basket cases. Kangas is only a freshman. Just a possibility here to ponder.
  6. Time for an old adage my grandpa taught me: You can lead a cougar to wine, but you can't make her drink!!
  7. I thought it was the Gophers who bombed Pearl Harbor??
  8. I can go with JPL not being one of the game stars last night, but I don't agree he had a poor game. He let in one goal and made several point blank saves. Yes, they hit a couple of pipes but that is part of the goalie's defense. Some people just aren't satisfied unless every game is a shutout. I believe the Gophers would trade all three of their goalies for JPL right now.
  9. Wahpeton-Sisseton tribal council Had pre-game warmups with Sioux-cia at Suite 49 last night. It is quite the story.
  10. Nah - From what I hear Fetch's issues run a little deeper. Here is a link to one of his past wildlife escapades. He makes it sound like a third party episode, but Morley tells me it is his autobiography. http://douglieberg.proboards41.com/index.c...read=1194738239
  11. Genoway
  12. Ah - Would this be the very same Fetch that "roped" the deer? I read that auto-biography!!
  13. I've heard about her at the hockey games. Get a high class box of wine with a little nozzle and she is set to go.
  14. Siouxcia - I am absolutely dumbfounded by this. It is almost beyond comprehension. We have recently had cultural sensitivity training at our company about Native Americans because a number of projects that we are working on involve the tribes. The training was done by a Native American and many issues were discussed, but the issues were focused on cultural heritage, beliefs, relationships, Indian time, etc. It didn't address tribal politics, and this could point out why. Our trainer could have been banned from the reservation. More than anything else, this is a strong indication that tribal conditions on the reservations will never change until there is wholesale cleaning. The unfortunate reality is that it appears no one has the power to do this. You have our sympathies. Keep your chin up.
  15. Mrs. Siouxman won't play if she has to have her own login. She likes to read posts but doesn't want to post.
  16. Wonderful idea! Siouxman picks Trupp Mrs. Siouxman picks Vande Velde
  17. Man that is an intriguing combination I never thought of. I can see the possibility of that being a line that would absolutely drive people nuts if the chemistry is there. It would be a tough combination to get the puck away from that group. Great suggestion, I would like to see it given a try.
  18. My simple observations: 1) This was clearly a team sweep, great team defense. They played the passing lanes very well. MTU just had great trouble getting anything started. 2) Finley was a man among boys - He was absolutely rock solid all weekend. 3) We had a new Radke out there this weekend. He played with his head and he was a force to be reckoned with. He backed off when there was a chance of a penalty but fought for the puck when he needed to. 4) Darcy Zajac is developing into a very tough player, absolutely strong on the puck along the wall. 5) Trupp's motor never shuts down. Although he is small, he could be a good fit for the DOT line as he plays much bigger than his size. 6) The penalty kill was very aggressive and very impressive. We had more shots on goal short-handed than MTU did on the power play. 7) Genoway plays solid defense and is clearly an offensive leader from the blue line. What an asset. 8) Davidson did not look out of place and could be a big contributor down the road. 9) I will admit that I never thought Marto could step up his play after watching him in the USHL. He does need some work on his defense, but his offensive skills are there and he is a fast skater. 10) VV is a face-off dominator going 14-4 on Friday night. 11) The goals came from all over the team. Very nice to see. Balance is tough to defend against. The real reason the Sioux swept is that both nights Mrs. Siouxman and I switched tickets (but not seats). That is the first time we have ever done that. Oh, I also wore white on Friday and green on Saturday. Don't plan to change any of that as long as the Sioux keep winning.
  19. Hopefully just having the button will clean things up a little. Thanks much.
  20. I believe that it is a positive sign that Forney is still with the team. It tells me that Hakstol believes there is potential for him. I've seen Forney play this year, including at Michigan Tech. While he did not play badly, it appeared to me that he was not fully back physically. He appeared to have balance issues at times and looked a little out of place when that would happen. Hopefully he does stick it out and it all falls into place for him.
  21. We went to the games in Houghton, and the Sioux are definitely the better of the two teams. Teslak stole the Friday night game for them. The guys had their chances but the puck just bounced his way. If he is hurt and Nolan plays both games, that is good for the Sioux.
  22. I guess we will just have security on the lookout for you guys. I heard from my aunt that the Milbank clan was coming up, and wondered if you were too.
  23. Darn - At this time Mr. and Mrs. Siouxman have a prior engagement and Morley is going pheasant hunting. If plans change, we will be there.
  24. This is insanity. If Silva is worth that much, Santana should get $35 M per year. Ridiculous. I hope Seattle gets burned on this one.
  25. First off I will say that I always enjoy seeing the Gophers in misery, just not this way. This is a really mixed bag. It is bush league for a player to quit on his team in the middle of the season, but on the other hand, if his heart isn't really in it then it should be good riddance. I believe that UMD got attitude poisoning a few years ago from some of their upper class players. If KO's attitude isn't there, then it is probably best for them that he is gone. However, I simply don't know one way or the other. It is not good for college hockey to have players leaving in the middle of the year either. It creates instability and hurts the game. You have to feel for coaches who get caught in this situation. That said, I would rather have seen the Gophers experience misery with KO than without him.
