I will take Mr. Trupp on Friday night.
-
First the negative: Fienhage was lost and looked like he did not belong. Toews did not play. Now the neutral: VV didn't seem to do much. I will wait on Miller. We've had previous early season flashes, only to disappear during the meat part of the season. He did some good things but can he keep it up. I will also wait on goaltending. While not bad, there were times where I didn't feel comfortable. And finally the positive: Trupp was all over the ice and is going to be a factor this year, in all aspects of the game. Gregoire is going to be good. He has vision, speed, puck handling ability, not afraid of the contact, and a cool head. He actually stepped into a fracas to separate an upper classman from a Bison player. His goal was a sniper goal. Upper shelf short side to the water bottle. Mario Lamoreux shows promise as does Hextall. Blood looked pretty good for his first game. Kozek looked good, Zajac looked good, the upperclassmen D looked good. Ryan Duncan was Ryan Duncan. This team looks to be quite deep. There was a lot of unselfish play. I know I haven't mentioned some, but there was good effort from Martens and the others that were a positive sign. Of course, this was Manitoba. I agree with the previous post that I think the Ice-Breaker this weekend is going to give us an idea of where this team is at this point. And Hakstol teams seem to improve over the season, especially the second half. And it was a pretty good turnout for an exhibition game, although the student section attendance wasn't what it should be.

Any good suggestions on where to stay in Duluth (or Superior) for the UND/UMD series?
-
Just got my Duluth tickets on Ticketmaster. Balcony center ice (Section 15) on Friday night. Saturday night only tickets on the corner were available.
-
Some ticket update info: Single game tickets at Bemidji State are not yet up for sale. They will take your name and put it on a list and give you a call when the tickets do go on sale. The telephone number is 877-3HOCKEY. I talked to Pam. UMD tickets for the Duluth series go on sale Monday at 10 am on Ticketmaster.

Siouxfans - In 1975 I returned from two years in England and brought with me a 1973 MGB. After a year at UND I decided the car wasn't very practical for a college student. I sold it in Grand Forks to, IIRC, a doctor associated with the UND medical school who lived on or along Belmont Road. I am fairly sure of the Belmont Road (I have driven it looking for the place I remember) but I am not sure about the doctor bit. I am trying to locate this car and possibly purchase it. It is Harvest Gold, with a removable hardtop, plus a convertible top. The hardtop has a plexiglass sunroof (doesn't open). The hardtop matched the car color, but the convertible top was black. The car also had a rollbar. If you have seen this car, or know of its whereabouts, please PM me. I don't know if this is mid-life crisis or what, but of all of the cars I have owned (Mustang, Trans-Am, etc.) this is the one that I would like to have back. I would appreciate any information that anyone has.

Bulgaria gives up 139 shots on goal in 82-0 women's hockey loss

Did the puck have to bounce on the ice before it went in the net to count as a goal? -
I told you the "Righty Tighty" and "Lefty Loosey" didn't apply to hockey skates!!

He has an advisor. Advisor = OK Agent = NO-NO I have no idea how that works. You would think that an advisor would get something out of the deal, if it happens, but maybe someone out there knows the details behind this advisor/agent arrangement differences.

I agree. He needs another year with the Fighting Sioux!

Actually, I believe jumping up and down on them will give you a better cardiovascular workout. But, if kicking is what you enjoy and it works for you, go for it!

Thank you RW77 for that educational piece. I appreciate it. I spent two years in England and a little in Europe and I did tour cathedrals (and castles and other historical places), churches, etc. Being an amateur history buff (and I hated history in high school) my favorite TV channels are History, International History, Discovery, etc. I enjoy learning about cultures and historical significance. It is enjoyable and educational to get past some of the blustery pontification and learn the background. Thanks again.

I agree that Chorney did not meet all of our expectations this year, but maybe our expectations were unrealistic. As for the NHL being safer than college, I believe that I would tend to disagree. I believe that we saw many videos of extreme cheap shots in the NHL this year where people were severely hurt. College does a better job of protecting against checking from behind than the NHL, even though college is inconsistent. But that is my own opinion.

I'm afraid that I have to quote a comment on the article that someone I know very well posted . BKJCJR

I think most suspected this anyway. The only interesting part are the comments at the end of the article.

Make sure you aren't confusing him with Robbie "watch this 2.5 with a full twist" Earl!!

At least the newspaper article answered some questions. Now we know that the screws in his ankle were causing him pain this season. It would really be tough to play at 100% under those conditions, especially having been injured so much and not seeing much ice time. Good luck in the USHL and hopefully we will see a skilled Forney back on the Sioux team in a year.

B. I will add the (old) Barn as many Sioux traditions and the legacy began in that building.

Hey ZOD - Just how the hell are we to pass the summer without hockey, unless we can do stuff like this. Yes we have other things to do over the summer, but let's face it. Sioux hockey is #1. I'm sorry the Gopher fans don't feel that way about their team. And I will readily admit that I root for the Sioux first, then the WCHA, then the west, EXCEPT if it involves the Gophers. I cannot cross that bridge and root for the Gophers. I will admit that there was one game this year where I didn't root against them, but I also didn't root for them. That is as close as non-commital Gopher support as you will get from me.

Those Holy Cross jerseys added a few more memories. 1) One of them marched around the Xcel Energy Center with the UM band. 2) A number of them wound up on the big screen during the UM game. 3) There was a team picture of Holy Cross jerseys at the Final Five. Of course, it was all in good fun!
