Be prepared for the possibility of a table by default. Tribal council members can have a tendency to not show up at a meeting where they have to make a controversial decision. If enough do that, you don't have a quorum and can't take any action, even to table an item. Not waying that it will happen, but just be mentally prepared for it. It is a modus operandi for some tribes.

Not quite. There are a couple of sections that do not require a donation.

So Chapman isn't at fault because the SBOHE didn't exercise oversight. But, the SBOHE is appointed by the governor, so it is his fault since he didn't exercise oversight. But, the people of ND elected the governor, and in hindsight (retroactive oversight) they should have known better, so it is their fault. But, evidently the people of ND didn't know this, since they were inadequately educated, possibly by ND colleges including NDSU, which is an oversight failure of the college. SO IT IS STILL NDSU'S FAULT and Chapman was in charge of NDSU, so it really is his fault! Got it?

I stopped in Grand Forks yesterday to pick up another Sioux hockey jersey. What an experience that was. Scheel's is sold out, the Siouxshop only had a few and not a green one in the size I wanted. The bookstore mostly just had kid's sizes. Scheel's has shipments coming in late May, July, and August.

This is the only one that I have seen so far that makes sense to me, assuming that we have to change.

This will not be put behind UND. This will fester for decades. Just look at Marquette, Dartmouth, and a number of other schools that have changed team names. The issue does not go away.

Being guilty and proving guilt are two totally different things. I am wondering if the DA isn't breathing a sigh of relief for not having to develop evidence against every single person involved and then go to court. I think proving knowingly receiving stolen property might be a little more difficult. That is assuming that the statements about a number of players being involved is true, of course. I do not have any first hand knowledge of anything here and I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

You missed my point. They don't have to say anything. Because of the dealings that I have had with various tribes, it is always like this. In my company we have learned that it simply is the way that they do things. They never say this is the way it is. Everything is simply done in their time, not yours or mine. You either learn to accept their culture or you don't have dealings with them. That is the way it is.

I don't think there is that much of a problem. UND began the year with 8 defensemen. Suddenly, Genoway is out and the team is down to 7, with one (Hill) having no experience at this level at all. The Sioux played the same six defensemen until late February. We learned that Davidson had been skating with the defense, and he began getting playing time. Why? Because of even further injuries. Now we learn that even with Davidson we were short experienced Dmen as Gleason got hurt, Marto was hurt so bad he couldn't practice for the last month, and Blood was hurt. We don't know what the Genoway plan is for next year, but I suspect that the coaches do. What's critical is that they couldn't plan for the Genoway situation when they were doing recruiting. I would not be surprised to see UND go with 9 on defense next year after the issues of this year. With that many at D you can then rest people when they are knicked up and not go into the off-season quite so beat up. As for Davidson, he came as a walk-on and a project. Whether or not he has a future at D, only the coaches know but I don't know that I would put him above any regular Dman. Maybe he goes back to being a forward. I would suspect that if anyone is short-changed it will be Hill first. Maybe they will have a system of rotating dmen through the last few spots to give everyone time to play, and bring the freshmen along slowly, although Gleason and MacWilliam seemed to slide right in this year. At this point I don't think we know enough about who is coming or going, staying or leaving, or coming in or going USHL to judge if someone is getting the short end.

Amen. On the bright side it might put Holy Cross out of people's minds.

That is what Hak did. The player was Genoway, and then he got hurt. There went the whole scheme. You cannot coach based on one single player cause all your eggs are in one tiny basket. Phil Jackson developed the triangle offense, which doesn't key on just one player. It provides options. He couldn't do it at Chicago with just MJ, they needed more players around him for it to work.

Darn it, I am just a little underqualified. 1) I've only coached termites, mites, and squirts. Not quite to the intercollegiate level. 2) I occasionally lose my cool and yell at the refs, but I've never given them the finger. 3) I've never danced on the dasher. 4) I've never walked on the ice to accost an official. 5) I've never squirted an opposing player with the water bottle. 6) I've never thrown hockey sticks from the bench onto the ice during a game. 7) There are NCAA rules? Other than that I think that I am pretty close.

Maybe he will bring back Eddie as the mouth that roared!

Given that they fired their hockey coach they evidently are looking to change things up and improve the situation. Also it might be that tOSU can't stand the constant success at Michigan and would like to at least mount a challenge. Finally, the rise in fortune of Miami (OH) hockey surely must be a sore point for tOSU. It could be viewed by someone as an opportunity to rebuild a program, and thus be a stepping stone to taking over a real hockey program (aka, UND) down the road. If Eades were to get the position, that could put a dent (maybe small) into some of UND's recruiting territory and connections. We still have the reputation and rink, of course.

Just talked with someone who has connections to the Ohio State hockey team. Rumble is that Cary Eades is in the running for the head coaching position. He is going to try to find out more for me.

You just don't get it. It is their culture and the way they do things. It doesn't matter whether you think it is reasonable or not. If a tribe of cannibals had you in a pot of oil as they are preparing to cook you for supper you would be too busy arguing with them that they should use cholesterol free oil for cooking, and fail to see that you are the main course.

Fixed your post. Be optimistic.

You are an insult to Native American culture and you don't even know enough to realize it. You keep pushing what you want and what you think, on your timeline, without ever considering the Native Americans. I have dealt with tribes enough to know that they will deal with issues in their own time, not yours. That is their culture and the way they do things. You can't change it and neither can the SBOHE. Saying they have had enough time is simply egostistical and a failure to understand their culture. Second, you are insulting them with the discussion of selling the name. In their words they consider any money in exchange for the use of the Fighting Sioux name as an insult. It is not about money. It is about their cultural heritage, customs, and past ceremonies. You are as bad as the outside white experts coming in and telling Native Americans what they should want and think. For just once, spend some time reading up about what the various factions of the tribe have been saying on the issue and what concerns them. Try to understand it rather than force your fantasies into their realm.

I wouldn't admit to living in either one.

Thank you Sioux hockey team for another enjoyable year. It was fun to watch you grow and mature as a team. Looking forward to next October. GO SIOUX!

I was well on the way to a perfect day (0-4) until Wisconsin beat Vermont. Dang Badgers.
