  1. Amazing how quickly so many are giving up on this team. Pretty annoying. Maybe it will turn out to be a crappy year but 3 games in seems a little soon to give up on an entire season. Maybe the Sioux should pull a Blackhawk's move and fire Hak after the first 3 games of the season like they fired Savard after the first 3 games.....
  2. Nice Oshie writeup: Oshie Ready to make the jump.
  3. Why do you bother commenting here? Seriously? UND can't do anything right in your eyes so your only purpose on this board is to try and stir people up because you have nothing better to do with your life. The only decision you will accept is UND getting rid of the Fighting Sioux name. No matter what UND does during this three year period you will just rip on them and claim they are pandering to SLT and SRT. Why? When the SLT and SRT asked UND to hang their flags should UND have told them no, we won't hang your flags until you approve the use of the Fighting Sioux name? Would that have made you more happy with UND? I am sure you would've been on here saying nice things about UND then and thanking UND for not pandering right? NOT! You would've been calling UND racist and insensitive and frauds and whatever else because you are just on here to piss people off. You are as transparent as they come! Get a life loser!
  4. 81-19 now. Sioux are getting trounced by the Habs! I told all my friends to vote! We need a Sioux-Blackhawks Final!!
  5. I guess these bikes weren't won by Sioux fans......... The chopper is sweet. Much nicer than the one they gave away this year. I am guessing this chopper will go for a pretty penny! I think everyone should chip in and give it to Kouker!
  6. I actually think it is pretty natural for fans that invest in a team to react the way many of us do here after a frustrating loss when you know your team is capable of so much more. I don't think "grieving" with fellow fans is a bad thing. We all care about our team and invest time and effort into supporting them throughout each and every year. I live in the Chicago area and still do whatever I can to watch every game each year. Why does sharing frustration amongst fans, and possibly players if they read this forum, have to be a bad thing and somehow mean that a person is a bandwagon fan? I am pretty sure that most of the people reading this forum will be back next year, and even between now and then, supporting the team and talking about next season and what is going on with former players in the NHL and the players that leave early, etc.... Let us lay down on the couch, talk, and get over this loss! It was a tough one for us all, players and fans alike! We are like family here!
  7. I think this is exactly the reason you pull your goalie, to make the team panic and realize they need to pull their heads out of their butts! Maybe Hak decided that Phil wasn't the problem, it was the whole team that was the problem. I think Phil tried to showboat too much on Goal #1, a simple butterfly save with the stick on the ice would've been more effective than stacking the pads. Goal #3 was a result of lack-of-focus on Phil's part. He was so good at keeping that stuff out this season, going in the butterfly and smothering the puck in his chest to remove the rebound. Goal #5 was pretty brutal, Phil was break dancing for some reason? It looked like his legs were made of lead and he couldn't get back up to stop Gerbe! Was he trying to repeat his Sportscenter Play of the day from last year when he did the breakdancing stop on Gerbe or something? I don't know why we fall down when we play BC but it is starting to seem like they have us too psyched out now. Actually, it just seemed like the team ran out of gas at the wrong time of the year again! It sucks to hear about the other teams that made it too the championship game yet again this year!
  8. At least one ND knows how to win! I'm depressed. Good for Notre Dame!
  9. Who has the stat? What is the biggest amount the Sioux have lost by in the Frozen Four? I have watched them a long time and I can not remember a time that we have been embarassed like this. Anyone? Is this the biggest point spread in Sioux Frozen Four history?
  10. I can't believe you Obama supporters, the guy could do anything and you would excuse it. Barack Obama knew the things Rev. Jeremiah Wright was saying. Obama was in he pews when Wright was saying them. Obama knew his church supports Louis Farrakahn. Obama knew that Wright and Farrakahn spent some time in Libia with Muammar Abu Minyar al-Gaddafi. If you believe otherwise, you are ignorant. Maybe you should ask yourself why Obama would dis-invite his pastor Jeremiah Wright from his early 2007 speech in Springfield, IL when he was announcing his run for president? Do you think it is normal he dis-invited his mentor and pastor of the church he attended for 20 years from one of the most important events of his life. Think about it. As far as Obama's speech on race, it was insulting. He compared his white grandmother's private racist thoughts to Jeremiah Wright's very public racist thoughts? Wright seems to be proud of the racist things he says. This said more than anyone needed to know about Obama but since he cloaked it in elegant language, etc... and the major news organizations are in the tank for Obama, he got away with it. Obama isn't an agent of change in the Chicago area. If he was, he would say something about the corruption in the state like Governor Rod Blagojevich and he would not be connected with political insiders like Tony Rezko. Obama is more of the same.
  11. Hope Barack brings his friends! ....all of them!
  12. I was at the Saturday game at the Kohl Center. When the Sioux play at the Kohl during the regular season they skate out of the locker room that Providence skated out of which is the one near the Badger student section. The same area where Finley took it too Bucky! The Badgers locker is on the same side of the rink as the one Providence skated out of execpt on the other end. The Sioux skated out of a locker room located diagonally from the Providence locker on Saturday. I am wondering if the Sioux and Badgers will both skate out of the locker rooms on the same end of the rink from each corner and Lammy will be on the home team end for two periods? It should be this way since the Badgers are the away team. The Badgers need to be treated like the away team even though they are at home. There were a pretty good number of Sioux fans at the game Saturday. The Kohl is nuts during regular season games and I am always buried in a sea of red hostile Badger fans. I am glad that there will be more Sioux fans than usual at the Kohl for the championship game. My friend had tickets set up for a Blackhawks' game via a vendor suite at the United Center before the selection committee put the Sioux in Madison. I regretfully had to sell my regional championship tickets after the Sioux game Saturday since I had already committed to the Blackhawks' game. I am going to be watching Toews kick butt against the Blue Jackets from a suite at the United Center and I am hopefully going to be able to watch the Sioux kick butt against the Badgers on a TV in the suite! I would rather be at the Kohl but couldn't let my friend down with the Blackhawks' game. Hopefully we will win the regional championship game and I will have an excuse to go to Denver to watch them live two more times this year!!
  13. Here are some cheap mustaches that could be dyed possibly? DealExtreme Mustaches
  14. Nice Toews writeup in the Chicago Tribune. Rookie Toews quickly revives Hawks' bid for playoffs! The impact he is having on the Hawks at his age is really impressive. He may just get the Calder Trophy for Rookie of the Year. Cool that he was part of the Sioux program.
  15. I noticed some other Malarchuk clips after looking at the one you posted. Man, that was even scarier than the Zednik incident I think. You can see the blood shoot out of his neck on the 2nd video. This guy has three parts posted that show many different angles: Malarchuk from 3 angles. As the third video is ending, our very own Tony Hrkac is skating around. He was playing for the Blues then.
  16. I must be feeling insecure today.... Thanks for all the attention!
  17. I just figured with a title like that it would create some attention and I wasn't seeing any. I did just notice that the post counter is off.
  18. No one is looking at this. Have you all seen it already or what?
  19. This is one of the scariest sports moments I have ever seen:Zednik Neck Slash Video Glad he is in stable condition.
  20. Make sure to click on Read All Comments at the end of this article on the Chicago Tribune's website. Some familiar comments are being made. I am actually surprised the Hawks are considering this phrase for marketing. I don't even really like it but it is catching on I guess. Maybe UND should pick this pharse up too! I am sure the NCANazis would approve this one!! :-) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/cs-08...1,3455398.story Savard rant produces a marketing dream 'Commit to the Indian' catches on with fans By Chris Kuc Tribune staff reporter 11:18 PM CST, January 27, 2008 ATLANTA "Commit to the Indian" has caught the eye and ear of one of the Blackhawks' chiefs. The phrase, uttered by Hawks coach Denis Savard during his postgame rant Thursday night, has popped up on T-shirts. Its popularity has made team President John McDonough take notice. "It's amazing how much life it's got," McDonough said Sunday. "I'm getting e-mails from all over the place." McDonough, a marketing whiz who rarely bypasses a chance to capitalize on a hot idea, said the team had had no discussions about adopting the phrase. But he didn't rule it out, saying: "We'll talk about it internally. It's interesting to see all the life it's getting for something [savard] said extemporaneously. Generally that's how these things grow. Somebody will say something off the cuff and spontaneously, and the next thing you know it takes off. I'm a big believer there's genius in brevity." McDonough said the team had not authorized the T-shirts being sold. While they don't feature the Hawks' Indian head logo, they come close with four feathers in the team's colors. The Hawks' current slogan is "Red Rising," but "Commit to the Indian" seems to have struck a chord. "It's gotten a great deal of interest," McDonough said. "We're very much aware it's in the media and that it's caught fire." McDonough also said the location and dates for a fan convention could be announced this week. The event is to be called Blackhawks Convention and will be in July. Copyright
  21. Being in Chicago and away from Siouxsports.com the last few days I hadn't heard the TJ story until tonight. I guess this explains why TJ and Hak were at the Barnes and Noble Starbucks last Sunday after the incident having a cup of joe and talking. I was guessing they were talking about how to turn things around with the team but apparently I was wrong. I was in GF for the holidays and my niece spotted them having coffee while we were there! Glad I didn't stop over and say anything to them like I wanted to about the crappy effort in the 3rd period of the New Hampshire game!
  22. Okay, I almost feel like ripping on JPL some more because he made me eat my words this weekend! When he is on, he is on and gives the Sioux a chance to win even when the rest of the team is off. He was really focused and on his game both nights. I guess this is why I have been frustrated at times this season because he is such a capable goalie. He isn't going to have amazing games every week but I hope this weekend is a sign of what to expect for the rest of the season.
  23. It is good for a sports team though because it is about domination. The NCAA can't criticize us for a name they can relate too. If they did we would have to ask why since they are the imperials of college sports rules and regulations.
  24. Not a fan of the Emeralds. University of North Dakota Imperials seems pretty good to me. It seems this may have been suggested before but it would be a nice way to recognize the Engelstads for all they have done for UND. I think it also passes all of the questions that were listed in Dave's article. Our hockey team and other sports teams could rule over all others. Imperial is defined on Dictionary.com as: adj. Of, relating to, or suggestive of an empire or a sovereign, especially an emperor or empress: imperial rule; the imperial palace. Ruling over extensive territories or over colonies or dependencies: imperial nations. Having supreme authority; sovereign. Regal; majestic. [*]Outstanding in size or quality. [*]Of or belonging to the British Imperial System of weights and measures. n. An emperor or empress. The top of a carriage. Something outstanding in size or quality. A variable size of paper, usually 23 by 33 inches (55.8 by 83.8 centimeters). A pointed beard grown from the lower lip and chin. There would be a ton of ways that we would be able to market the team with this name. We could change the name of the Ralph to the Imperial Palace as well to recognize Ralph's casino. Tons of stuff could be done with this for a logo too.
