  1. For one, I have only lived here for 1 year. Secondly, this is a rather large city. Finally, who are the Broncos? Never heard of them? Will you point them out on the list from page one please. Thanks. Smoking me? You might be smoking, but it's something else. I have proved everyone of your statements wrong with such ease. In fact, I'm laid back on my Lay-z-boy right now by the pool this is so easy. No, I do not have a Broncos speedo on
  2. You have been citing isolated incidents on about every single post on this forum? You keep making statement that "never" or "all" and I'm just proving to you with my own (one persons) exeriences over the past month or so that you are wrong. I'm sorry that I'm able to prove your statments wrong with such ease.. Who cares where the items are purchased? Just cool to see our name that high on the list. Podunk school like UND? What podunk school is the Boncos?
  3. A couple of things. I live in Chicago and actually see UND stuff around more then I ever thought I would. I was playing poker the other night when I noticed a kid wearing a Sioux Football shirt. I asked him if he was from ND. He said "no, I just like the name and bought it off the internet." He said he saw the team playing on ESPN and liked the name. Now he considers himself a so-so fan of the school, so-so because he doesn't want to offend those who are true fans. I told him we appreciate anyone who wants to be a fan. I was out at Wrigley about a month ago when I hear "Go Sioux" (I was wearing a Sioux Basketball shirt) I look over to see a guy wearing a UND hat. Pretty cool stuff. I know of many people in the Phoenix area that are Sioux fans and own Sioux apparell. Seems like you haven't been out of the Cities in a while.
  4. When were you up in GF, 1940? After all, we are stuck in the 50's compared to the "technologically ahead of their time" state of Minnesota.
  5. Obviously you haven't read his posts. Better brush up. A Gopher fan with 69 in his name...Minnesota='s sexual predators and child molesters
  6. That's weird, I remember them talking about the possibility on the news on more then one occasion. I must be wrong though, thanks for correcting me on what I saw and heard.
  7. What cheers would we have different that don't offend? I think F*^% the Gophers/Bison would be offensive if we were the Flickertails too
  8. I highly doubt that if UND is forced to change the name that they wouldn't allow them to play in the REA or Betty. I know he said that, but that was if the school changed it, not if they were forced to change it IMO. That would be really, REALLY pathetic if they did not let them play there. Englestead would look like the biggest joke ever and GF would be made to look like a joke too. I would bet against it!
  9. There is a lot of talk on here about FSU being the one that will put up the big fight. I would think Illinois would be fighting it harder. First off FSU is a football school and this will not affect football at all. Secondly, Illinois is a basketball school. And third, Illinois has a great law school. Not that that is a huge difference but it definately will help. Just some thoughts.
  10. Wrecks your weekend? I'm getting just as drunk as I would have, which is VERY!
  11. Wow, so FSU will have to take off the "Noles" on the front of each helmet and each jersey and what about the "spear"? And Illinois will have to have different unis withought the word Illini on them. This is going to cost quite a bit of money. It says they will ask for teams hosting tourneys to "cover up" logos. Man is that going to take a long time in the REA for the tourney next year. I agree with Jim, I think this is just a foot in the door for bigger things. I see a ruling coming down in the not to distant future to rid all teams of these "offensive names" It will take time though in the courts deeming which names are offensive. i.e. will Notre Dame be forced to switch, will they allow no-one to have a the name of a group of people? These are questions that will take quite some time (and money) to answer.
  12. Just to let you know, I was reading the online version of the FF today and when you go to sports there is a billboard across the top of the screen with "The Tradition Continues" theme. If you click on it it takes you to fightingsioux.com to the ticket info. Nice work!
  13. WhyTF is this in the Star Tribune? Obviously this cosmetics drama queen just wanted some free publicity.
  14. I was just thinking of all the good times I had watching Sioux basketball and wanted to hear what good times others remember. Some of my favorites: Beasley's 40 against NDSU The game against Kansas The NCC championship loss to SDSU (still was fun) James Baird's colossal dunk many, many years ago So many big Travis Tuttle 3's Mary's 3 to beat the Bison Having a crowd of about 150 students sitting behind the basket as the BSA chanting wildly for the Sioux But my all-time favorite: Watching Coach Glas come out before each and every game and give everyone in the student section the big thumbs up and a little clap, kind of saying thanks for the support.
  15. I remember the NCC championship game down there when Robert Lolar really "got the crowd ticked at him" And Beasley too. The whole crowd just hated those guys as they dropped shot after shot, then would taunt the crowd with a hand to their ear, or a chest bump. I think Robert had quite a nice game that one. The game was a good one with the Rabbits, unfortunately, coming out on top. Had a great time down there and came away with a nice Wells Fargo NCC sign to prove it. I also took a nasty spill outside the Brookings Inn after a late night getting to know some of the SDSU female fans. Fun time though. I long for the days of good NCC competition like that with SDSU, NDSU, UND and USD. I'm sure quite a few of their fans do too. Although no NDSU fan would admit it on this site. Those were some fun games though.
  16. These are not that great, but give a little input on what the people close to the Vikes are thinking. Here is a little caption telling about Bowenkamp and what Vikings Beat writers think. Entering Camp Bowenkamp left the University of North Dakota as the team's all-time leader in completion percentage and among the top six in school history in attempts, completions, yards and touchdowns. Bowenkamp's best season came as a junior when he led the Fighting Sioux to an NCAA Division II runner-up finish. Bowenkamp saw limited action as a senior due to injury. Bowenkamp is known for his strong arm and could challenge Shaun Hill for the No. 3 quarterback spot on the depth chart. However, he'll have to show a better grasp of the offense and more poise behind center than he did in developmental camp. Here's a little caption about one of his days at Developemental camp. Former North Dakota QB and Lakeville, MN native John Bowenkamp led the fourth possession. To say the rookie free agent struggled would be putting it mildly, but in the end he was able to keep the offense perfect on the day. On his 4th play from scrimmage Bowencamp hit fellow rookie wide receiver Christopher Jones for a 25-yard gain. Four plays later Jones was on the receiving end once again, this time in the end zone making a spectacular one handed catch for a touchdown. And here is the latest blip on what they want out of him. The real depth chart battle will be at the No. 3 spot, where Shaun Hill hasn't shown much progress in his three years in the Vikings organization. The coaching staff would like to see a third quarterback that has potential to at least eventually turn into a backup signal caller, which is why rookie John Bowenkamp could give Hill some competition in training camp for the third quarterback spot.
  17. I agree, but what I'm saying is that it would surprise me very much if a kid was going to play baseball for UND simply because the hockey, football, basketball, and volleyball teams have nice facilities. Just doesn't make sense, there has to be a bigger reason then THAT!
  18. You mean "Ruttgers" Lodge on Gull Lake, Brainerd?
