  1. Your point? This thread was originally about the AD for GF. There is now a thread only about this situation.
  2. I used to be a HUGE Common fan and still listen every once in a while, but he just does the same stuff over and over again...ok, I get it, I'm the idiot... I do like it when he goes of on a new bit though. He's had some great shows that I've laughed about for hours afterward.
  3. There is now a thread about this in Basketball and Other Sports
  4. From what I've heard he went in and they had a hierarchy made out of who was under whom. Turns out ol' Bruggy wasn't on the list. In the words of the Trumpster...YOU'RE FIRED! all new Apprentice starting this fall on NBC
  5. Now I wonder if ESPN will show even less highlights then before. Before they had a stake in doing some promotion of the sports, now they have none.
  6. When John Buccigras came on the Sportscenter 30 @ 30 last night during the baseball game he seemed so sad. I wonder if any of those guys will leave ESPN now?
  7. That is the same way it is here. Each neighborhood has a certain cable company that you have to use if you live there. Why is that? Why can't we have choices? Of course here I only pay $49.99 a month for Digital cable and High Speed internet, so that is a pretty good deal. What I'm trying to say would be the problem with the ala carte would be the fight that would be put up by the smaller channels. They would eventually have to sell out to larger companies i.e. Disney to stay on the air. Soon there would probably be a few umbrella companies owning most of the stations and you would need to buy most of them anyway. My dream would be to have ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNews, ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, all the Fox Sports Nets, Comedy Central, MTV, all the HBO's, WGN, FOOD Network, and Sunshine Sports for about $15 a month. Now that would be a dream deal.
  8. You know, I've thought a lot about that in the past. The only problem will be the packaging then that companies like Disney will do. They will make you buy the entire Disney Co. package just to get ESPN. Soon all the smaller channels will have to sell out to big companies or they will be purchased.
  9. Not sure if you guys saw this but the NHL will be shown on Comcast for the next several years. Games will be shown on OLN and other regional comcast channels. Games will also be offered "On-Demand" for Comcast subscribers. The first two games of the Stanley Cup Finals will be on OLN before moving over to NBC. Some think that Comcast is trying to become a viable competitor for ESPN. ESPN says that they did not pick up the offer from the NHL because they did not think the price fit the product. With the NHL out for a year, ESPN had shows like "Bowling Night" and "Stump the Schwab" and the ratings were comparible for much cheaper. What do you guys think of having the NHL on OLN? Is the cable in GF Comcast? Do you think ESPN will cover more college hockey now? Just some thoughts.
  10. Wow, Bruggeman out huh? It has been talked about before that he made a few mistakes over the years, I guess maybe the new AD wanted to clean house and get RT's boy out of there. Hopefully for Bruggs Turtle River State Park is looking for a campground supervisor.
  11. Why were PA and Dubay just saying that Phil Kessel is going to UND rather then Minnesota? Don't jump all over me here, just let me know what the deal with that was. Thanks
  12. There are some programs right now that will pay for your schooling if you will teach on a reservation, are there not? Maybe it's just if you stay in ND though? Those were some good ideas though, SiouxCIA. And what would that really cost the school? It could really help everyone.
  13. SFSIOUX#1, I like your thinking. Those are the types of things I was thinking of in my other thread (I actually not totally...). I think there are things that the school could offer the Sioux nation and see what they think. The only difference I see, is that I was speaking more of athletic opportunities. Camps, workshops, etc. Let's build this relationship, rather then tearing it apart!
  14. It's stories like this that I don't get. Why does this become a racial issue? This is the kind of thing that really pisses me off. Obviously they just made a mistake. Why would they mis-spell his name on purpose? OOF DA!
  15. Must not have touched the ball that much that night, huh? I think his average was 1-78.7, but you may have to look it up
  16. Doesn't look like their time was wasted though.
  17. So please tell me how that is, as you put it "shelling out money" The waivers are given to many, many people. The women's hockey players receive waivers. That in no way is "shelling out money" So that is "more then enough"? Give out a few free waivers and they should not even look at doing more? I just don't get your stance on why UND should not even take a look at what else they could do. By the way, I also received a waiver when I went to UND and I am Irish, German, Dutch, and Norwiegan.
  18. I would think anything that is directly involved with the Sioux "nickname" and athletics only. The NCAA has NO bearing over the school itself, only the athletic teams.
  19. Sorry I now realize that someong already posted it. You can listen to ESPN radio though through a link, if you are interested.
  20. President Kupchella had some comments including "highly insulting" check it out, you can hear most of it ESPN radio
  21. For instance.... What should UND be spending money on instead? You say "shelling out even more money", what money are they "shelling out" right now? Are you talking about the programs that UND currently has set up or what? I don't see why you are so against it. I'm not talking huge dollars here. Obviously there is a point where it wouldn't make sense to go through with it, but why not explore this? I'm not real clear on why you think that UND is doing SO much already and that there is no way they should do any more. Please enlighten me on how much they are doing right now.
  22. Whoa, whoa, whoa...Bin Laden? 9/11? Wow, you obviously have your priorities on a different planet. I'm not talking life and death here. But, why not help both parties? I agree that if it is going to take millions of dollars then the name will have to go, I just wonder if there is a compromise that can be had that will benefit both parties.
