  1. 35,000? Seems low. Aren't you guys joining the Big 10? I would think you would draw better then that for those huge conference games. And besides why would we have to rent the Fargo Dome, when we own it?
  2. ESPNInsider

    Und

I hope you are not going to correct all the errors you made.
  3. So you're telling me this kid told you that he is going to UND because of Englestead Arena and the Alerus Center? If true, that really surprises me.
  4. Next year aren't they changing the rule with the IR?
  5. Sounds good. It sounds like he played pretty decent this summer. here is a link to the stats and recaps of his league. You'll have to click on the Orlando Magic to see the box scores and what he did. He lead the team in scoring at least one game. He seemed to get more minutes the last couple games. Reebok Vegas Summer League (click on Orlando's logo)
  6. Yes, I have welts. My brain is also hurting from containing all this information. I'm just not sure how much more I can learn! It's getting pretty full!
  7. Sorry, not referring to a Red River kid. Not sure who you are talking about?? And thank you for the compliment, although I cannot accept it, as I don't know everything, it just appears that way. I do know quite a bit though, so thank you. By the way, sorry about your hate for Red River. Many people hold anxiety toward Red River because of their success. I find that to be a compliment, much like everyone hating the Yankees.
  8. What the hell are you talking about? I didn't say he got hosed. They let him go, and he went on to be Big 12 newcomer of the year, and later Big 12 pitcher of the year. Then was drafted in the 3rd round of the draft. Yeah, he should probably have been at UND. Obviously you have no idea what we are talking about, but thanks for your 2 cents.
  9. Just like the Braves, having a nationally broadcast station showing your games really helps the Cubs in the fan department. Wrigley is another HUGE draw though.
  10. I know, but I think a lot of the same people that are hunters are the same kind of guys who like football. A lot of people try to hunt and get back in time for the game so maybe later games would help? Just thinking... I'm not sure that there are other things "in GF" that are really pulling people away from going.
  11. A few things. Chicago is filthy. Mayor Daily is about as clean as the Chicago River. Wrigley is probably the greatest ballpark in the country (Yankee and Fenway up there too). You're right, they should have built the new Comiscullar somewhere else, like maybe, NOT IN THE WORST PLACE IN THE COUNTRY! The Cubs announcers are horrible, you are right on that one, but at least they don't have a website out to get them fired. And you say that the Cubs announcers got bounced for not towing the "Tribune" line. The Hawk is the biggest homer since the officials in the Soviet-U.S. basketball game. Gilbert, Az compared to GF?? Gilbert is the fastest growing city in the U.S., must be something there to do. In conclusion, you can have your filthy river, overpriced apartments, corrupt city government and the highest sales tax in the country. Like Denny Green, if you go looking for ESPNInsider you'll find him on the high road. The high road in sunny, beautiful, clean, decent smelling, and exciting city of Gilbert, Arizona!
  12. I thought you said you were a Sox fan?
  13. This actually brought up a good point. Hunting probably hurts BIG TIME!
  14. Oh and one more idea: Build a light rail from the Alerus to the Student Union and then the REA. It should also make stops at Dagwoods, the El Roco and Downtown. About one hour before games make all trains go to the Alerus and shut off the power. People will be stuck there and might as well buy a ticket. That should get a few more people there! For real though, do they still give shuttle rides from Memorial?
  15. ~High School kids They should definately try to tap into the high schools more! Give them a cheap ticket with their student IDs. I'm talking really cheap. I don't think a lot of high school kids go to the games right now and that could get many more kids out there. ~Beer Garden with View Have a beer garden that can view the game. ~Better opponents ~More kid giveaways. Why not give a couple hundred free tickets out to elementary kids for the lesser games? Their parents are going to have to accompany them. ~Parking Let it be known that the parking is not as much of a fiasco as some people make it out to be. Sure, it may take you a little while to get into/out of the parking lot, but it's not going to be longer then 15-20 minutes. ~Tailgaiting entertainment Get more entertainment out in the parking lot before games. Get some local bands to play, get some games, etc. Just some of my personal thoughts on things that can be looked at. Although, I think they do a pretty good job already with what they have. It's tough to draw more then 10% of the population out for a game against Crook-rock!
  16. This might be one of my favorite quotes of all time! Love it
  17. My buddy had the mod for this on computer about 3 years ago. We played with NCAA teams all the time. The graphics appear to be much better now, as back then the only changes were the jerseys, name of the team and logo at center ice.
  18. Yeah the downtown is great if you're a tourist. I work in the loop, but that is as close as I get to downtown. The only time I head downtown is when I have visitors in town, otherwise I stay as far away as possible. There are some great bars and restaurants to hit in the neighborhoods though, that's for sure. Not many people who live here head down to the Mag Mile area and downtown (just South of the Mag Mile, Millenium Park, Grant Park) there are just WAY to many tourists. As for the sports. I go to Cubs games every so often, but no way am I giving any money to a team that has Ken "the Hawk" Harrelson as their announcer. He is such an idiot it makes me want to puke. The only time I'll head down to Comisk-ullar and hang with the low-life scum of the Earth is when the Twinkies are in town. And the Bears and Bulls GROSS. Then again I'm a Spurs fan so every team in the NBA is pretty gross to me. Hopefully the Suns can make it back to the Western Conference Finals next year, so I can watch my Spurs take them out in person in Phoenix. Anyway, Chicago is probably my favorite city to visit, but not to live in.
  19. I guess if you want to think that he did him a favor then that's your choice. I just think that a coach at any level needs to take a step back sometimes and see what's better for the individual kid. Sure the team might suffer a bit, but some kids need to be at a higher level, or at a lower level where they can compete with their peers. That's what I meant by the UWGB thing. It was totally bush, yet he still allowed him to transfer. It would be way worse to keep a kid around and not let him transfer if he wanted to. Who wants a kid there that everyone knows doesn't belong? Whether it be he is not good enough, or too good?
  20. I'm not saying that he promises a kid a starting spot or makes gaurantees, but I know of times where kids have said that they felt he had talked up a different game then what actually came about. Now, part of that is expected with every coach, you need to keep kids out so you have enough no matter what happens, but sometimes you need to be realistic with a kid too. You can't tell me that the Marsden example is a great example. I look at that exactly the opposite. How could you, as a coach, not let a kid transfer who doesn't want to be there? Aaron didn't belong at UND and everyone knew it. He just didn't get marketed or seen like he should have. I look at it like this. If he wouldn't have let him transfer, that would have been one of the most classless, bush league moves in the history of UND athletics. Letting him go was just the right thing to do, not some great move on his part. I remember talking about how bush the UWGB coach was about the Koenig transfer and yet he allowed it. It's just the right thing to do.
