  1. Maybe they should play one skater short all the time. They have scored more shorthanded goals than power play goals given up.
  2. No third place game...Good point about WisconSIN...Can't over look them and there is a chance (probably slim) that OSU gets by Minnesota.
  3. Having to have to explain your joke...not good...Being asked to expand on the explanation of said joke? Time to remove joke from repertoire.
  4. Could be a reading comprehension thing but I took it that watchmaker49 meant that MafiaMan's analogy was fair and accurate. Certainly puts a different spin on it anyway.
  5. NIce post... As an outsider looking in I agree that Gothberg seems like he has greater upside than Saunders. I think the best way to attack Minnesota is to take away time and space from their defensemen, whether that be in their zone or to attack them on the point if they are in your zone like on the power play. They have a tendency to turn the puck over when you do that but it is a high risk, high reward situation especially like Saturday when Wilcox wasn't as sharp as he has been. Their forwards are a handful if you take that risk and they manage to break the forcheck but that is better than sitting back and playing conservative against them.
  6. Nice bit you got going here...Especially pulling the Garth Snow card.

  8. Maybe Dufault can show her stuff this weekend againt Minnesota.
  9. FWIW, It could be pointed out that imatation is the sincerest form of flattery. or not...
  10. You should know better than to add factual information to a ripfest.
  11. Good point about a certain teams goaltending. Gudmandson really gave up some soft goals. Definitely a fail for playing the frozen four in Ford Field.
  12. Just some neutral observations... North Dakota, for some of the time, did what teams need to do to beat a very underachieving Minnesota team. Attack it's defensemen. It is curious that they did sit back after getting the lead on Friday. Saturday just seemed like one of those games where it wasn't going to be their night however it took a great game by Kangas to keep North Dakota from scoring for most of the game. What might be debatable is was it Kangas being good or North Dakota's lack of finishing? Probably a little of both. Hakstol, to me, should have less heat on him than Lucia but it is strange to see both North Dakota and Minnesota currently sitting in 6th and 7th place in the league.
  13. Yeah, Kangas" had some "Frazee" moments last night.
  14. What was thrilling about watching your squad under-perform for 58 minutes? In fact it should make you PO'd that they finally decided to make it a game at the end rather than playing a full 60 minutes. When in doubt you can always pull out the "put down a rival fan base" card and true to form there it was. Why exactly should folks who attended last nights game feel shame for leaving early when the real shame was in the effort put forth on the ice?
  15. Very Close. They tied 5, won 3 and lost 4. (courtesy of Collegehockeystats.net) "Neither of the last two national champions were above .500 at Thanksgiving time. Fact. Boston College won only three of its first 12 games last season (beat Merrimack twice and RPI once). The Eagles tied Merrimack and lost to UMass and Northeastern heading into the Thanksgiving break. They turned out to be a pretty good team...." Reading comprehesion is a good thing. BC likely would not have even made the NCAAs if they were 3-12. Much different sitting at 6-4-5 after 15 games. The point being made is teams like UND, Wisconsin, and Minnesota have lost a lot of high-end talent over the last few years and that contributes to some early season woes. Hang in there, these teams will be very good as the season moves along.
  16. He should be a 2010 recruit. WCH blog has him as that.
  17. Agreed...If it is true he is a nice get and no matter what is said the Gophers wanted him.
  18. Early report of a verbal from Hammy on GPL. Looks like the Sioux get a committment from Duluth East defenseman Derek Forbort.
  19. As a rival fan, I want to be respectful coming on to this site after a tough loss and really just observe. However, I feel the above deserves some comment in regard to the main point of there being too many critical Sioux fans who are a supposed joke. I think it is unfair to characterize Sioux fans (or any teams fans for that matter) in this way. This is a forum that allows Sioux fans, as well as College Hockey fans, an avenue to express their opinions. Not everyone is going to have the ducks and bunnies attitude displayed above and thankfully the creator and moderators of this forum allow a wide range of discussion to go on. The reality is that after a game where your favorite teams gets pounded (and it doesn't happen very often to UND) the responses are going to be all over the placee. Let them happen and if you don't agree with whats being said you can comment an opposing view or better yet ignore them. For many who vent in ways that appear to be over the top, they do so out of a need to deal with their frustration. Most all of them figure out a more moderated positon with time.
  20. UND and Denver seem to need some anger management.
  21. Said poster is not that hard to figure out...
  22. Pretty amazing how well the Gophers do in this senario. Probably not what RH intended when the idea first came to him.
  23. Unbiased observers likely would say that at least Ness is a very good recruit. I don't think Lofquist is too far behind that. The one thing for both of these guys is that they are accelerating their studies so they will be very young. Playing defense in the WCHA as a freshman is a tough challenge so as you say we'll see.
  24. Nice to be the first one to break news like this. Good job Poopski. I had thought that Schmidt had interest from CC, SCSU and UM but it was interesting to see UND was in the mix as well. Mattson and Schmidt would have been one heck of a pair of defensemen. UND and Minnesota sure are loaded with talented D recruits in the next coupe of years.
