  1. Careful, by expressing an objective opinion you too could be denied entrance into the super secret level that apparently only certain Sioux fans have access to.
  2. In looking purely at numbers it shows North Dakota has 9 freshmen who registered points with a total of 148 . In comparison Minnesota has 5 freshmen who have registered points for a total of 94. 5 of the top 10 scorers for UND are freshmen. 2 of the top 10 scorers for Minnesota are freshmen. I can't disagree about how good North Dakota's freshmen have been but disappointing for Minnesota? Maybe but with a team that is curently 25-6-5 I don't know how disappointing it really is.
  3. Agreed that Kessel is fair game on a Sioux message board but thetriouxper took it to another level when called on his opinion. I'm working on the respect thing here as an opposing fan but that is probably going out the window with my opinion that it was uncalled for to personally attack 3 other Sioux posters. Not cool to pull the idiot card and then to top it all off, to claim that said poster will never attain a certain mystical "level". Some may say they know him and respect him but I don't see how those posts are worthy of respect.
  4. Redwing77 was spot on with the assessment that Minnesota's passing alone would beat MTU...At least for one night.
  5. Ok, I am not the greatest at reading comprehension so let me see if I have this straight. I gather I have a problem with Sagard's posts? That would be news to me but maybe Sagard could carify that...Actually he was very clear in his last post in regards to what you posted but that still didn't keep you saying that he "flaunts meaningless championships when the opportunity presents itself." Since you recieved a reminder from the moderator about the hypocritical nature of your earlier post, I really don't need to say much other than using the word flaunt is disengenious on your part. Regardless of what differences we may have I would agree with Thetriouxper that you are a knowledgeable hockey person and to let the "schtick", so to speak, get in the way of that is why I said it is stale. Dagies made a point earlier about Gopher fans using the term "halos". A great point as I have used it in the past and it IS old and tired. Time to move on. The Sioux and the Gophers have a good rivalry and I enjoy coming to this message board as an opposing fan. In doing so then it is my responsibility to act in an appropriate manner based on the idea that the board welcomes opposing fans and I believe that is the case. Since you state that I should go back into my damp little hole it appears that I have some work to do in the responsibility area so I will start with apologizing to others for extending this topic.
  6. Very True, in fact Sagard's response backs up what you say, Dagies. SiouxHabit's schtick has gotten a little stale lately so maybe thats the reason.
  7. Why dwell on the negative? Maybe go with love the Sioux if that's what your thing is.
  8. So much stuff lately that has created a lot of polarized discussion. In regards to Borgen and how Lucia handled it, so what? Just because some Gopher posters questioned Blais at the time for how he handled certain players, again big deal. The majority of the Gopher posters who made comments at that time would get zero respect from Sioux posters anyway so it's really no big deal. Think about it...One of the Seven Dwarfs for sure commented about it. I would bet the poster named after a movie also commented about it. Blais did what he felt was best and regardless of what I or any other Gopher poster's opinion may or may not be you can't argue with the success that Blais had. Same is true for Lucia. For what it is worth if I was in your shoes I would be more inclined to spend my time talking up the great trio of freshmen you have in Toews, Oshie, and Lee.
  9. Mike Ramsey would have been a better example for games played (1070) as a former Gopher defensemen but it doesn't matter since 5 O.T.'s research was poor from both sides of the equation as has been pointed out. Rick's comments are always interesting and for the most part the idea that big skilled defensemen are a better fit for the UND program makes sense. However I am not sure I buy into the idea he puts forth that Finley's choice of UND moved his draft stock up from a 3rd round choice to a 1st round choice. Reed Larson...Whats he doing now? I could be wrong but I thought I read somewhere that he is coaching one of the Elite HS teams this fall.
  10. "Any objective observer would find nothing wrong with Minnesota being #1 in the pre-season poll, even without Kessel. They're a frozen 4 team that returns pretty much everything. The other three frozen 4 teams lost considerable talent. There's no need to be snide about it and contribute it all to Kessel." If you are speaking Chinese that is some pretty well thought out Chinese. Nice take. Denver should be the preseason number one based on the fact that they are holders of back to back National Championchips.
  11. I was able to watch Columbus and Chicago on FSNCN last night as well as the Rangers and Bruins, so no the games are not blacked out. I do not have NHL Center Ice, only the multi-sport pack with Dish Network.
  12. In the category of well thought out post, you have to admire bringing up an establishment with scantily clad females in a thread about what is the best thing in North Dakota. Hunting, fishing, and good-hard working people (Would the females working at said establishment fall into this category?) are trite anwers compared to this.
  13. "I don't know how I won three titles " That would be news to me if Lucia has won three titles.
  14. NDH, why am I not surprised by your reponse. Again I don't disagree with your premise that he will not "make it" at the next level so your prediction as such is no great revelation. Weighing the supposed foolishness of playoff perms against your judgemental comments is just more of the same. If you want to say you don't like (hate is a pretty strong word) Talackson like the other poster, fine. I take issue with you expressing your dislike as though you "know" Talackson and that you frame it based on how he plays a game.
  15. "Barry's also a good buddy of our very own former captain Matt Greene." Amazing how there is life beyond a College Hockey rooting interest. Makes a post like "Grafton could sure use better press than this. Talackson is a putz" look pretty foolish.
  16. THETRIOUXPER, I appreciate your comments. You take a no-nonsense approach to what you have seen in this camp. I would be interested in your thoughts on Taylor Chorney if you would care to elaborate on how he looked.
  17. "The WCHA is going threw a period now like it did in the 70's and early 80's when it just dominated college hockey. As fans we should all enjoy it. In 2004 UND won the League, Minnesota won the Final 5, Duluth went to the Frozen four and Denver (although they really had no business being there) won it all. This last season we all know that 4 wcha teams made it to the Frozen Four and we got another chance to kick Minnesota's ass. I cant wait for next year, I want UND to win it all, but at the same time you get to watch players like Sterling, Sertich, Gautier, Carle, Potulny, Irmen, and all the incredible freshmen coming in. It is probably one of the best class of freshmen the WCHA has ever had. Some of these guys will never play a game in the NHL, but they are more exciting to watch anyday." Excellent thoughts 1HakFan. The WCHA is riding a nice wave of momentum right now and as a fan of the league in general this makes for great competition during the regular season as well as the playoffs.
  18. "God, I hate reading about Phil Kesshole on this board." Then quit complaining and do something about it. North Dakota's recruits need not take a back seat to anyone's recruits so post about them. "Jan Brady State University. The Gophers and their fans are somewhat akin to Peter Brady worshiping the ground that his older, better, and smarter brother Greg walked upon. Here, the Fighting Sioux of NDU" Nice try but no, there is not a "somewhat akin" analogy to anything Brady between UND and UMN.
  19. "Jeff Dubay also talked about how the incoming class from Minnesota, which includes Kessel, is supposedly the best class from any region since the class of the the late 80's from Massachusettes that included Roenick, Tchachuk, and others. Just wondered if anybody else heard this and what they thought." You could have stopped after the first two words in your sentence...Jeff Dubay. What else would you expect him to say? Those who have a balanced view would look at North Dakota, Michigan, and Minnesota's recruiting classes for 2005/2006 and conclude that they are all very good on paper for whatever that is worth.
  20. "My question is this...at what point does the University of North Dakota stop playing the "life is unfair" card and admit they have the same type of advantages that they despise the U of M for having. " Stop and admit Are you demanding they do this? If you are then I'm thinking this might happen when a very hot place turns into a very cold place.
  21. In thinking about it further if you look at how Minnesota wound up playing at the end of the season they were frankly not a very good team. Start with Goaltender and Briggs was not playing as well as he had earlier in the year...Something like couldn't stop a beachball or something like that. Their young defensemen were showing the affects of being counted on heavily all year. Harrington, who was supposed to be "the guy", was anything but. And to top it all off they struggled to score goals. Now given all this, how good does it look to whine about a supposed unfair advantage Minnesota had?. If Cornell was as good as advertised then they should have beaten Minnesota regardless of where they played. Cornell, if they played in the WCHA, would have maybe been a 6th place team. .
  22. I admit my bias towards College Hockey upfront so it concerns me to see players like Eposito, and possibly Yandle and Mueller choose the Major Junior route. I understand that college is not for everyone with Chris Bourqe being a prime example but I am glad to see players like Cogliano, Toews, and Kessel pick the NCAA route even if it is for 1 or 2 years.
  23. "NDH- It's no secret you don't like Lucia but one has to question how much he sucks when you look at his win loss record. I wouldn't want him to coach at UND, but there's nothing saying that he can't move on to the NHL. His track record is quite impressive." Well said... In regards to Hill, if Gopher fans are honest with themselves (might be asking the impossible) then it is difficult to see the logic in Hill's move back to an assistant at Minnesota from being a head coach in the same league. Maybe the only thing that makes sense is the "safer" aspect and if that is the case then Hill has certainly curtailed his future head coaching options.
  24. Exactly, "I'm sorry you can't be enrolled in a federally recognized Sioux tribe. I'm sorry that your skin burns if your out in the sun too long. But most of all, I'm sorry that you think that taking your kids to a hockey game will educate them on the history of Indian people." This basically makes null and void anything else you say in the post. I disagree strongly with your notion that going to a sporting event for UND is an exercise in learning about the Sioux.
  25. Mafia Man and ABTG, I can't thank you enough for the spelling correction but you may want to try another guess as to where my supposed education (hint...or lack thereof) was obtained.
