  1. Hmmm, The Fighting Spirit, I can already see and hear the references to Casper. I guess we could have a poltergist as our logo and mascot......
  2. The name Nokotas or any other name will be awkward if we have to change our name and logo. Like the Fighting Sioux, the Nokota have a firm root in North Dakota history, as has already been mentioned. I found this video clip that I found interesting. Scroll down the page to the video. Those brothers are to be admired, without a doubt! (I still vote no name or logo for awhile.) http://nokotahorse.org/cms/
  3. I was at a Kroger store in the CIncinatti area and saw a middle aged man wearing a Sioux sweatshirt and cap. I walked up to him to ask him if he was from ND. He said he had a contracted job in GF a while ago and became a Sioux fan while there. Would that be your dad? I saw him one more time a couple of weeks later and he made a point of saying hello to me, he was still wearing his Sioux gear! I went out to my car after work last Saturday and found a note under my wind shield wiper. It said 'Hi North Dakota, I'm from Dickinson, ND. Moved to Ohio in 1972. Welcome to Ohio.' She signed her name. Not a Sioux story but I think it reflects the type of people that are North Dakotans.
  4. A lot of prayers going your way, Perry, a lot!
  5. Dang!! You can win those 'recruiting battles'. Who the heck wants 'living on the edge' soon to be felons on their team...uhm, besides NDSU.
  6. A kid, vendor, at the F4, Detreoit, told me his high school is changing their name from Warriors to . He had asked what we were going to do about the name being retired.
  7. Thank you MissSioux85! Blurry or not, I got a good sense of the march. I wish I could have participated.
  8. Did anyone get any pictures they can post? Was the media there?
  9. I can't be there. Will someone who is going post how it went, turnout, etc. Thanks.
  10. UPDATE: https://www.nmnathletics.com/sellnew/SellHo...SCRIBER_CONTENT= Expect to spend big bucks for anything with the FS logo especially if it's a hockey jersey!!
  11. The cost of building the hockey rink and refridgeration was reported to be $1 million.
  12. We had an awesome time at the F4. The RIT fans were hilarious and really into being fans. Several times they turned to the BADger section and chanted 'we can't hear you' with less than a lukewarm response from the BADger fans. RIT even cheered for the BADgers for a few minutes. Pretty sad fan base. We sat next to and in back of BC fans at the games and at the Tiger game. Very nice people and they all were sincerely sorry about our name and logo being retired. I did explain that I could not cheer for their team and they understood. All in all a great time.
  13. Still haven't decided who I'm going to cheer for, probably neither, but I too will be there in full Fighting Sioux attire! Went to the Ford Museum complex yesterday. Twice had local people make positive comments on my son's Sioux hoodie and my Sioux jacket. We'll be wearing them at the Tigers ball game today. I'll be wearing Sioux gear at every hockey event and whenever I feel like it for always.
  14. We should not condemn the Sioux tribes in entirety. I believe their support is widespread and they are also victims of the white, ultra liberal few and the fewer, radical Native Americans who believe they speak for the 'weak, oppressed, Indian' who they believe can't and should not speak for him/herself.
  15. It wasn't. It was the SBoHE. Spirit Lake supports us and judging by the number of signatures on the petition that Steve Fool Bear and his group amassed to put the name to a tribal vote, Standing Rock also supports us. Thanks Bison101, FargoBison and Southtexgopher. You understand that our rivalry is on the field, on the ice, on a court, etc. where it belongs.
  16. I hope not. But,it's a real possibility. That's why my opinion is to not rush into getting a new name and logo. Let the dust settle for a awhile. We're the University of North Dakota and proud of it. UND has a nice ring to it and I don't believe we're going to be confused with the IRISH. I shutter to think what 'c' word our women athletes could be called by our opponents if we adopt the Fighting Cocks. UGH!!
  17. Steve Fool Bear http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/157278/
  18. Ditto. I imagine signs reading 'phucking cocks'.
  19. THANK YOU!!! We think they're great! Now if you had arranged for RIT and Miami to have won, I would have sent you a bonus!
  20. My seats are in section 240, row 3 and we have a great view. The people sitting next to us said they had seats on the lower level, the chairs they set up, and they were terrible.
  21. I vote for no name for awhile. I don't think we should rush into anything just for the sake of having a name, any name. I also don't want anyone but students and alumni deciding on a new name although the logistics would be a nightmare. The University of North Dakota works for me for now.
  22. It was our pleasure. I will be happy to donate again next year. Just have MafiaMan remind me.
