  1. I love it. Sioux fans, most of whom would rather spit at a Gopher fan than shake his hand (hyperbole, you guys are great) are ripping into the SCSU program and using the Gophers (along with the Sioux) as an example of a solid program. I feel the love, at least until January! What's next?
  2. He really did this? Seems out of character for Blais, at least IMO. Seems more Woog like to me.
  3. This is why I love the Sioux Board - Remedial Hockey 101. Seriously - it can be very subjective and depends on who is keeping the tally.
  4. MN averages (I think) less than 1500 (or less) per game for its woman's hockey games - which of course means they get a new rink.

Awwww shucks. :O That could have been me you saw - depends on which meltdown it was. Last time I saw a team do that was SCSU at Mariucci 2-3 years ago. It was priceless. Pass from behind the net right up the slot and 200 feet later we were playing the Rouser and killing a penalty.
  6. - OSU was horrible. - MN's FR d-man made stupid plays to give up the to goals and it's overcoming this inexperience that will make or break this team in the long run. - On the other hand, Ballard & Martin were both outstading on both ends of the ice. After watching Vanek, Guyer, & Hirsh and reading about Parise et al I can't wait for the UND series. Should be very, very, very fast.
  7. I've spoken with college football fans who claim America's Sports Bar in the big mall is very accomodating - especially if you call ahead and tell them you have a group. If the game is on a dish they seem to be able to pull it in. I've never done this first hand, just relaying what I've heard. Good luck
  8. How about the three amigos. Good year for UM athletics. As requested.....
  9. dagies - How about a NDSU Bison logo? Picture of the Wooger? Don't you just love it when the monkees discover technology?
  10. In today's Strib there is a great picture of Roche landing a hip check on one of the Atlanta birdies - the photographer caught the birdie in the air. Unfortunately, I can't find it on the Strib sight. If you have a chance, I would suggest picking up a copy of today's paper. Too bad he was sent down, but I bet it doesn't last long - he's a NHL caliber player.
  11. And you guys think Gopher fans are paranoid.
  12. I can't believe the thrashers would sit a home town hero - that had to kill Hrkac. Bush league move. It's alway good to see the WCHA alum playing well in the NHL. Bomber has become something of a media darling on WCCO in the Twin Cities, he is very witty and glib on the air and a pleasure to listen too. I hope he's able to avoid injury this season as I think the Wild will be much improved and he is a key component.
  13. You post on POI, don't you. The defense rests. Ballard takes too many chances in the offensive zone, but he's able to get away with it because of his speed. BTW - I assume (as Scott mentioned on POI) that Blais was laughing when he made the "backyard" comment. MN has lost twice in the FF we participated in that were in St. Paul since '89 (plus once in Duluth in '81) and I beleive the last team to win at "home" was BU in '72. The WCHA tourney was a league decision. While I can't say I'm disappointed, I do think it should move around - Madison/Milwaukee, Denver, & GF should get a taste.
  14. Rif-raf? Why I oughta.... I disagree with some of the views on Paul Martin. He is not a physical player so it's easy to miss how well he plays in our end, but he is very effective and has amazingly quick hands. BTW, he won the Gophers Iron man competition and many claim he might be the best athlete on campus - any sport.
  15. Sic - You just did. It doesn't seem to affect Riddle and he's not that big. I thought the Hoogstiens were wings to - and no one confused them with the jolly green giant. Then again there's Spehar.....
  16. Ummm Goon, maybe "unaceptable?" To me, "unexceptable" means last year would be the norm - which isn't all bad I guess.
  17. Sicatoka is right when he says it's situational. If you watch in key situations late in games you'll see coaches throw out more than one good face-off man. Example? Lucia had both Pohl (our best), Koalska (very good) and Taffe (pretty good) out for the last minute when we played Maine. Worked out well for us. One could argue they'd be out there anyway, but Koalska typically centered the second PP unit and was out there instead (I think) of a more natural scorer in Riddle.
  18. Darkside Gophers not wrong be you.
  19. Scott - Welcome aboard! There's always room for those having a mid-life epiphany!
  20. Not exactly Zach Parise like stats, eh? Just curious, but how much scholarship $$$ did he receive? A smallish D-man that doesn't score? He has walk-on written all over him
  21. Just because we're building it doesn't mean we can afford it!
  22. For the record: I do not believe Mariucci Arena has ever been tainted by a basketball game. Hockey only baby!
  23. An equal opportunity discriminator! If I remember correctly UM stated a couple years ago the would not play non-conf. games against teams with Indian names. We've played the NE LA football team the past couple years and I think they are the Indian. I'll have to check out our schedules and see. Should be no worries.
