  1. JK - I agree with your first point - I was very happy they hired someone with a background at hockey schools.
  2. One of the POIers works at Maruicci and I've asked for his imput, but nothing yet. There goes my March trip to REA. Rats.
  3. Not sure. But, there was a USCHO article with hypothetical pairings from 2002 NCAA teams, the next four likely teams, and possible sites. Having one of the hypethetical regionals at MN was an option in the article and I think the PP took this as an award. How's that J-School education working out for you?
  4. I agree with diggerdan and I posted the same on POI. I think the PP confused the actual bid with an award. Bids were just accepted a few weeks ago - way to early for awards to be made.
  5. Nome Civic Center as in Nome, Alaska.
  6. I think, in at least the hockey world, UND is a major player. Founding member of the WCHA, !-1/2 hand full of rings, and history second to none. USCHO is still for hockey junkies and it didn't surprise me at all to see so much love for UND. Not intended to take anything away, you're just dealing with a knowlegdable puck fun (on average ) on USCHO. Do a similar poll on a bouncy ball site - or even ESPN front page - and you'd see the obvious choices of the Big Ten and other schools with DI BB or FB presence.
  7. Scott - if you ever get the time you know you'd be more than welcome. It's a fun group. Plus, our heads are so bleepin big right now we need the reality check only Sioux fans and their seven rings can provide. Plus we have a rule, if the team you cheer for has the most NC's, you buy the first three rounds! dagies, Goon - ditto.
  8. Scott - You ever going to skate with us at a POI game? The hockey is fun but the brew & hockey talk is even better.
  9. It's tough to get really good players to play D.
  10. I just hope the rest of the UND brotherhood understand it's tounge firmly in cheek. BTW - At least Lucia recruits kids and not some Canadian going throug a mid-life crisis with a wife, four kids and a mortgage. I could get some intersting e-mails. Interesting note about the SO class in an earlier post. I'm waiting for a flame war regarding players leaving on USHCO or POI. The total roster number keeps growing in the Forks and it will be an issue soon.

    NCAA

Scott, I'm a little fuzzy where you stand regarding the NCAA. Do you like the organization or just ambivilaint about it? You pretty much nailed it. The most self-serving organization I've ever seen. Right up there with the Minnesoat State High School League.

    I give up

Pelewa was an incredibly tragic loss. It would have been amazing to see someone that big and talented rip up (literally and figuratively) the WCHA. He would be considered a monster now, imagine what it would have been like in 1986? What DI schools- if any - had offered him a fb ride?
  13. If it makes you feel better, you can tell me I'm obsessed with UND because I post here.
  14. I'm feeling the love. One can almost guarentee UND will finnish ahead of UMD, MTU, AA, & UW. They have a very good chance of finnishing ahead of MSU-M & CC. SCSU is the wildcard. They could be very good almost as easily as they could be very bad. In other words I see them as high as third and as low as 5th. I'd be very suprised if the do not have home ice.
  15. To me it's quite obvious coaches will take diffenent approaches towards scholorships and how they are allocated.
  16. Thanks for the info. Sounds good. I hope REA gets a regional, sounds like it would be a good time.
  17. I'd be tempted to go just to see the REA. I haven't been to GF since 1987 so I may be way off here, but are their enough rooms in the GF area to accomodate that many out of towners? I sure dont' want to drive back and forth to Fargo.
