  1. Not an attempt to flame. Thought some of you would enjoy seeing GF native Grant Potulny presenting the President with a Jersey during today's ceremony. Here is the link.
  2. Since the Gophers have never won the regular season WCHA and the NCAA's in the same year I do not know what it feels like. But I do know the following 1) winning the WCHA titles in 1975, 1981, & 1989 were little (ahem) consolation when MN lost in the NCAA championship game and 2) winning the NCAA's the past two seasons without winning the WCHA didn't seem to damper me enthusiasm.
  3. Like a bad penny.
  4. Congrats Hammy - looks like you didn't get voted off the island. Goon - Once again underestimating Gopher fans, eh? Now that we're worldly we can sniff out trolling comments. Airmail - Be carefull what you wish for.
  5. Thanks bison. To me it's amazing to win consecutive cups or several cups in a narrow time period. But, to do it with three (or four in Montreal's case) different coaches is truely amazing. Different systems, styles, personalities, etc make it quite a change. One needs only to look at the early exits in Detroit & Denver for evidence of the difficulty this poses.
  6. With three different coaches. Has another team ever done this (three cups/thee coaches/about to years) in a similar time frame?
  7. An eight seed? I thought ya'll would aim a tad higher this year. I guess whatever turns your crank...but it's surely finishing 8th in the WCHA is not something to get excited over, unless you're a Sioux fan I guess.
  8. Did I need to add more winks? BTW - Your prediction for next year's Sioux team is eeriely similar to the '02-'03 Gopher results.
  9. Well since you have the magic spreadsheet there is no need to play the season.
  10. Plante has 6. Dryden has 6. Grant Fuehr must have 5 Billy Smith must have 4.
  11. I thought it followed the wacky adventures of the UND goaltenders?
  12. Coming this fall on ABC, America's Most Wanted - The search for Brad Winchester.
  13. I'd vote for Glen Hall, Tony Espisito, & Gump long before I voted for Jiggy. Hell, I'd vote for Mike Vernon & Tom Barrasso before I voted for Jiggy. 10-12 years from now who knows, but right now not a chance.
  14. I think by the time he retires it will be Brodeur, but until he starts breaking Roy's regular season and playoff records I have to go with St. Patrick.
  15. Another obsessed UND fan.... Oh God! - The Zach Parise Story.
  16. If a player is cut does he have to sit out a year if he goes to another program? If he needs to sit out I think it should be construed as a four year commitment - as long as grades are kept up.
  17. I agree with this 100%. It might be the most meanlingless stat I've ever seen argued on USCHO. I don't think I've ever thought about it longer than the time I'm waisting now. I would bet MN lead the nation in ticket revenue though, even with less tickets sold. $26 a pop gets mighty expensive!
  18. From an outsider... During the MN-UND series in January I thought Prpich was a hack and of a very low skill level. In my mind he had "Brad Winchester" written all over him. When I saw him again in March during the NCAA's I thought he was the best player on the ice for the Sioux. I would expect great things from him if I were a Sioux fan. But, since he's not on the list I voted for Lundbohm since I think he could improve his scoring by 10-15 pts based (again) on what I saw at the NCAA's in March.
  19. Congratulations. In a thread filled with some of the stupist things I've ever read you've managed to lower the standards.
  20. Rational (?) answer. IMO - I think his character was as big a factor as his ability. I'm not going to claim to be an expert, but if Grant worked has hard in USHL games (and there is no reason to think he didn't) as he does in Gopher games he would be a no-brainer. Plus, you don't become an assistant captian as a sophmore, especially on a team dominated by upperclassmen, without some serious moxie. To me, I don't think Lucia is the type of coach to recruit one kid just to get another - especially four years later. Too much can change. So to make a short story long, I disagree.
  21. I thought Winchester was a senior last year?
  22. You sure got the NON-ATHLETE part right!
  23. Like Max Bull?? Has any team ever started a goalie at every position? Maybe Dean is revolutionizing the game?
  24. Didn't the WCHA have a two ref system several years ago? I don't think it worked all that well. 4X4 doesn't make sense to me. I'd rather have longer OT's - but any longer than 5 minutes and they'd have to resurface the ice.
