  1. The REA is a private entity. They are not part of the settlement. And, until something changes in the setup for postseason hockey, the REA wouldn't host them anyways since the NCAA is trying to stay off-campus.
  2. Anyone planning on going to the Omaha series in October? I am trying to round up some people(Dakota Dan!), and I know my parents are making the pilgrimage.
  3. Are there any schools that even offer hockey in that list?
  4. Doesn't some of that additional revenue have to go towards adding a women's sport to be in good shape regarding the title IX? If that's not an option, what men's sport would they cut? It's hard to fathom a team from Texas pulling a competitive team together.
  5. Old-Timers? I'm 27 buddy. It's called having morals. Chapman should have got some morals and respected the State more than he did. Bending rules is one thing. What Chapman did was completely different. How long will the effects of what he did have ramifications against NDSU or the other colleges in North Dakota?
  6. Whatever happend to personal accountability? Where you grow up, mature, and understand that even though you know you could get away with something, you know it's not right and you don't do the act? Why does it seem like more and more people in this world need to be baby-sat? Sure, there could have been more oversight. But, when do you realize that you have to own up to your mistakes? Chapman never owned up to his mistakes. He never faced the consequences as you like to believe. He quit his job. He wasn't fired. He left on his own terms. That's not facing consequences.
  7. My bad. I live in Superior so it caught my eye is all. Reading it this morning in the local paper was humorous. I'll return to my regularly scheduled hibernation until hockey season starts. Carry On.
  8. Is she really one that got away? The girl is in 8th grade. When the Michigan coach has to talk to the girls coach, who then, has to talk to the girls parents so that they can call Michigan officials to talk about the scholarship, somewhere this has got to stop. It's just getting silly now. It's up there with recruiting hockey players when they are 14. How will they develop? How much did you change between 7th grade and college?
  9. Gopher Recruit De-Commits, mentions us by name as possibilities: What are the odds we could make room for him or would want him? Walters De-Commits
  10. Forgive me. I went off the dates the poster used in his post. Anyways, the National Championship is always on Saturday for hockey, let's say April 3rd for the argument's sake. The Final 4 in basketball is always the first Saturday and Monday in April. Do you really want to compete against a network station that basically everyone gets(CBS) in a sport that a lot more people enjoy in this country(Basketball)? Not everyone gets ESPN. Not everyone has cable. And a lot less people like hockey than like basketball.
  11. Playing the National Championship game on ESPN on that Saturday while going against the Final 4 in basketball is not a good idea for TV ratings. I thought that's why they skipped a week all together.

    Game over.

This is the part that bothers me from the Herald article: "We didn't have the votes on the motion to reconsider," board member Grant Shaft of Grand Forks said. He and board member Duaine Espegard, also of Grand Forks, said they had calculated such a vote would fail on a 4-4 tie. "I am a longtime Grand Forks kid so I find it kind of sad," Shaft said of today's decision. Espegard agreed. "I think it is a sad day," he said. "I don't look at it as a win for anybody. I see it as reality." My opinion: Make the board members vote. Don't calculate votes based on how you "think" people will vote on the motion. Make the board members put their vote on paper for the public to see. Never assume. Kelley said the board's action today was not a surprise. "It is a matter now of managing a transition," he said. "I am happy to have a new set of problems to solve," he said. "This is going to be a new set of challenges, and it is going to be hard work for everybody." My opinion: Why does our president continually sound excited and happy about the name being changed? Especially the quote that I highlighted above. Just mind-boggling. And he's supposed to be educated. Apparently he forgot to take public speaking 101. Or maybe the old-saying "Think Before You Speak." Either he's dumb and not thinking, or arrogant and doesn't care.

    Game over.

Whats truly amazing is that if you actually have a master's degree, you act like this. I assumed you were a 16 year old reading your posts.

    Game over.

And there's the problem with this country. The people who represent areas, in this case Grand Forks, don't vote with what the representatives of their area wanted and instead on their own. How he didn't second the vote is mind-boggling.
  15. Probably have a bigger budget? Way to go out on a limb there. That's like saying UND's hockey budget is probably RIT's hockey budget. Not to mention they play in the Horizon league is the top rated mid-major conference(12th overall out 33 conferences). They are in a major-metro market and have been a dominant, repeat dominant, mid-major team for years. Butler's basketball program feeds their athletic budget the same way UND's hockey program feeds ours.
  16. Why not make it 10? How bout 5? Go do something about it yourself. Sell people on your own ideas if you got something real. Don't wait for anyone else. Be an innovator. Then, once you do, sell it an auto manufacturer for $XXX Million-Billion-Gajillion dollars!
  17. That's called capitalism. If you don't like the way something is run/built/whatever, come up with a better product/function/whatever. Go Ahead and build it. Make it cheaper and more efficient than a standard vehicle. If it was so easy, there would be more alternatives. Give the people something worth while to purchase. Not an electric vehicle that costs $40,000 and goes 40 miles on a charge before kicking over to a gas engine(Chevy Volt). Battery/Solar/Electric vehicles aren't even in the same book as vehicles now-a-days. Until then, supply and demand baby.
  18. Duluth 2-0 in the 2nd now Mankato 1-0 in the 2nd.
  19. Duluth 1-0 over CC after 1.
  20. This is why we worked so hard for home-ice advantage. The last line change/match-ups/crowd/rink/etc. If we can't win 2 out of 3 in our own building, we don't deserve to be in St. Paul next week.
  21. Remember, Hunt and D. Shephard are the best of the best for our league. We should feel fortunate we get these 2 and not someone like Anderson and Adam.
  22. First goal tomorrow is gonna be huge. We score first and it could be a landslide. Otherwise it's going to be a dog fight again I think.
  23. I wholeheartedly agree. Any sport where a ref has to make a judgement call is tough. The players and coaches don't care which way you call it, whether it's tight or loose, just call it consistently through the game. When Frank and Doug say they weren't going to call the too many men penalty on us because of the situation is exactly whats wrong. Even those 2 were suprised they called it. We had at least 7 on the ice and they are suprised the penalty was called because of the state of the game. That's not how it should be. Call it if it's a penalty.
  24. You can't argue with that call of too many men, but to let everything before that go is ridiculous.
  25. 3-2 SCSU now. 3 goals in the first 7 minutes of the 3rd period.
