  1. Sounds to me someone has to approve it. But then the wording is as clear as mud.
  2. Can any ND university employee just take a LOA? Doesn't it have to be approved by someone? Again most are missing the point about Mr. Martinsen, no post I've seen is ripping him for anything. It's the policy of placing him into the athletic department under the control of the university president and not the AD. I know that it's been said that he wasn't in the athletic department, but anyone that is involved with university athletics should report to the AD.
  3. Self-righteous? Because he tells everyone who will listen to stay away from drugs. This after seeing all his friends in the 60's -70's waste their lives doing drugs. He helps out in Africa by actually feeding the people when he goes there, not doing a photo shoot like others. Self- righteous because he has an understanding of right and wrong. Too bad we are all so "self-righteous".
  4. So he wasn't working within the athletic department? No communication or interaction with coaches or anyone in athletics? Then he was a spy?
  5. No one said that Buning was a good AD or doesn't deserve to be shown the door. As usual you have missed the point. I didn't place any blame on Mr. Martinsen because I don't know what really happen within the department, but I know one thing you don't do what Kupchella did and have good results. I find it interesting how everyone on this board was sticking up for Buning before the LOA and now they're throwing him under the bus.
  6. What would you expect Buning to say, boy I'm glad President Kupchellla put someone in my department that I have no control over and only reports to him. This all starts with Kupchellla and his dislike or inattention to athletics at UND. Martinsen can be the best guy in the world but even he with his business experience should have seen how this would only end the way it has. I'll bet you anything when there's a new president and AD that Mr. Martinsen will have a job title and report to the new AD.
  7. Nobody talks more about NDSU than you!
  8. Does that apply to all your leftys in the entertainment business too?
  9. Yea this thread is headed for a train wreck.
  10. I agree with many of your points. What about the private house across the street from the University? Should there be limits on it? I think everyone needs to face the facts that in a free society if someone really wants to harm or kill someone it is very difficult to stop them no matter how many laws we make.
  11. Why not ask that same thing about the rest of the amendments? This sounds like a solution in need of a problem!

    Goodbye NCC

The only thing that forced you to move up is the success of NDSU. Live with it!

    Goodbye NCC

You obviously don't follow the "non football sports" at NDSU do you? I think the following year after the Wisconsin game we beat a team called Marquette who at the time was rated #8 in the nation.

    Goodbye NCC

Forced? Can you honestly say that the move hasn't been a great for NDSU? If you call it thriving (NCC) then so be it, but I'll take the road NDSU when down any day.
  15. So you don't think the public views UND is a bad light over this? From what I've heard from UND alumni and people in general there are two takes. Either UND administration is very weak and petty and Buning is being treated unfairly or Buning is a bum and should go but the administration went about it the wrong way and it opened up UND for criticism. Either way it's a poor reflection on UND.
  16. I heard 2010/11 - Who knows. I don't think anyone knows who the call over at UND anymore. The longer your AD situation gets dragged out your scheduling is going to suffer.
  17. Obviously NDSU isn't going to do UND any favors, but has no control over UND's transition and scheduling. It's of no value for NDSU to schedule UND in fb. (our games sell out this year anyway) BB doesn't help either since we have only 1 or 2 games that can be lower than DI. Those games are reserved for regional schools that scheduled us during our transition.
  18. Blah blah blah then please explain why the rest of the Sioux sports didn't play NDSU? (except baseball) That I'd like to hear!
  19. That grad has more money in the bank than you!
  20. Nope didn't really talk about the UNI game much. I knew the Sioux would do okay. That's always been my point that we will never know, but Sioux fans bring it up all the time.
  21. You keep thinking that because all you'll ever have is comparison scores which at best is not very good indicator of anything. The only fans that are full of themselves are fan like you. Go out and play somebody sometime like last year (UNI). We'll see how your 2008 schedule is whenever you get your athletic dept straightened out.
  22. I doubt it will matter much to the fair weather fans you have.
  23. That's the kind of thinking that's wrong with this whole situation. You don't inject an employee into someones department that the head of the dept. has no control over. Things like this never turn out good. I don't care if he's an Emerald Club donor or not. If the AD doesn't have TOTAL control over his dept. it's a recipe for trouble. If UND thought that Buning wasn't getting the job done they should have manned up and fired him earlier.
  24. From the Herald - "A volunteer alumnus (Dan Martinsen) is allowed to act without accountability on the Presidents behalf, while camping in my organization, to freely criticize my administration to coaches and constituents." How can anyone think this was a good idea? If you were Buning would you like this?
  25. Mr. Taylor has stated many times that he reports directly to his boss President Chapman.
