  1. No problem at the worlds as US is up 1-0 on the Czechs and Canada is up 3-2 on the Slovaks
  2. The big story of the day is Sweden trying to get Canada's best player suspended for contact with officials. I hope Canada gets to play them again in the medal round. The arena staff will likely have to mop up a few Swedish Meatballs after that one. http://www.tsn.ca/canadian_hockey/news_story.asp?id=124336
  3. Neither, in this round each team gets one point for the tie.
  4. The Swiss have tied the Russians 3-3 in the other game which just ended.
  5. Scott Stevens just knocked Saku Koivu to a different planet and the season ends early for my Habs again.
  6. I found this link that lists where all of the committed Canadian Tier II Junior players are headed for next year. http://www.cjahl.com/default.aspx?p=content&m=ncaa05
  7. The five finalists for the Royal Bank Cup are: Camrose, Alberta Georgetown, Ontario Hawkesbury, Ontario Portage La Prairie, Manitoba Weyburn, Saskatchewan (as the host team) I would put my money on either Camrose or Hawkesbury to win the tournament as they come from stronger leagues. For anyone who gets to watch see if Hawkesbury plays their 6'7" D-man Gravel. He has plenty of potential however, he has a tendancy to take lots of penalties for high hits so the Hawks haven't been using him in deciding games. Where have we heard that before.
  8. I oftened wondered what the person in the Goldie outfit actually looked like, so thanks!
  9. I was hoping we wouldn't have to ressurect another thread regarding a Gopher recruit but so be it. I got to watch some of the games on TV while I was up in Ottawa and the Refs were calling penalties on what would be clean hits in the WCHA. Hence by the end of the tournament the games looked more like a scrimmage. Canada was missing most of their top players due to the major junior playoffs, which includes Crosby. The second best Canadian U18, Brule, was injured and Toews couldn't join the teams training camp in time. You can talk up the Goofer recruits all you want but we all know that the WCHA is a completely different game and story. Size and toughness wins championships not doodlebugs.
  10. I think we have all had enough of Josh's bantering and it is time to move this thread where it should belong, the basketball chat. Josh has already admitted that he is more of a BB fan anyway. So Josh how about you give us your take on your Low-Down University and it's serious recruiting violations that lead to the infamous team ban a couple of years ago. What a scum-bag DI school and program, and damn glad you are a part of it and not me. Just in case anyone has a short memory: http://www.detnews.com/2003/um/0305/08/a01-159031.htm
  11. Based on some of the flawed logic he has offered on this site, I believe that a successful career in law is wishful thinking on his part. At best he'll probably find himself cleaning out the estates of little old ladies in some backwoods town.
  12. If you want to watch some old time hockey (it will be physical), Portage is just over a three hour drive from Grand Forks. Just take the Perimeter Highway West around the south end of Winnipeg and Portage is just over a half hour drive once you pick up the Trans-Canada.
  13. That would be impossible as Toews only has Canadian citizenship. The only reason some players like Murray and Brett Hull can do it is because they have dual citzenship. Although the Murray family is originally from Brandon, I believe that Brady may have also been born in the US while his dad was either playing or coaching.
  14. PCM, you may have been wasting your time with this loser. He actually wrote back to me and revealed he was from Fargo. Given that he isn't that interested in hockey I am willing to bet he grew up an NDSU fan in which case Michigan must truly seem like a vast improvement and their was no hope for him anyway.
  15. I don't beleive for a minute that Toews' decision will impact his play on Team Canada in any way. In fact Boston College's Bertram is currently with Team Canada at the U18s. The only reason Toews isn't with the team is because he couldn't break away in time for the current teams training camp. He may not make the coming years junior team but you can bet he will be on the Canadian junior team the following year.
  16. Yeah, he got his lights punched out (broken orbital bone) over a month ago by Manchester's Joe Ruiller
  17. Someone needs to tell Parise that is what Gophers do when you squish them, they squeal.
  18. Unfortunately there weren't enough gitsch sniffing canucks invited to the selection process in SPRINGFIELD MA USA, which is why you have such a DUMB-A$$ selection.
  19. Please share the link and email address with us so we can all extend him our best wishes.
