Actually, they now do a good job of keeping the train running close to year round on weekends and you can find the schedule here: http://www.cograilway.com/ratestimes.htm#OPERATING%20TIMES

I see the well informed lads at USCHO have Chorney as going to Denver and they seem unaware that Lee was drafted by Ottawa. Great photos though, especially the two of Oshie.

All good advice as there are plenty of hotels and restaurants around the arena. In addition to the La Quinta and higher end Antlers there is also a Marriott Residence Hotel if you like to have your own suite to relax in. Old Chicago's is great if you are a beer drinker as their selection is second to none and their pizza is decent. In addition to the previously mentioned restaurants, I believe there is a Chili's in the same parking lot and a short drive towards the mountains and there is a Benigans and a Macaroni Grill on your left. Colorado College is extremely small, about 1500 students I believe, so if your are looking for more night activities you need to make the one hour drive north to Denver.

Oh well, I only hope Matt gets an honest shot at sticking with the big team vice going to an Oiler affiliate where the NHL team with ownership won't care how much ice time and attention he gets.
-
Yes they did but it is only an affiliation as Iowa is the farm team for Dallas Stars. Therefore, I would be surprised if they could accomodate more than half a dozen Edmonton players. Therefore, the challenge for Edmonton remains as what to do with all the talent they had on their own AHL team from last season. I am only saying that they still may not have room for Green this season.
-
All good points and maybe the Oilers won't sign him. They already have most of their proven NHL D-men signed for this season and don't forget that they suspended operations of there AHL farm team for this season. See the story at http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/news_story.asp...Name=nhl-oilers Therefore, unless they are sure they have room for Matt on the big team or can give him that sense he would in fact be loaned out to some other teams farm team instead and at the Oiler's expense. If they leave him at UND, it costs them nothing extra and they know that they would have him in time for the playoffs if injuries should happen to take their toll over the course of the season.

Stafford is a great player and yes he was a first round pick but Toews is an elite player the likes of Heatley and Parise. He will produce right away.
-
Captain of Canada's National Team tells me enough about the kid that I know he will be a force to be reckoned with and that he will likely give Mr. Media to the south a good run for his money when it comes to picking this seasons top rookie.
-
CC just lost their Captain as Stuart has signed with the Bruins and apparently they have lost Greco too.

UNH is actually much closer to Boston, less than 2 hours whereas Montreal is at least five hours to the North. If the Sioux ever play at Vermont then Montreal is definitely in the picture.

First Period, Lee will spot Watkins in full flight, put it right on the tape to send him in all alone on Miami Goaltender Steve Hartley. Watkins will beat him glove side and Hartley will realize that he is better suited to follow in his dad's footsteps (Robert Hartley, Atlanta Coach)

I have to try and make this one as it is only 7 hours from Ottawa. I should make the Saturday game and the Friday game depends on my wife's schedule. Any recommended hotels or post-game suggestions yet?
-
Wishful thinking on your part Sagard as all of Toews numbers indicate that he will score like Parise and will be a more complete package to boot. He was the top player at last years U17 and how about comparing his scoring to that of Parise while at SSM (nearly identical). You can have your little hot-shot media hog while we get a hockey player

#$%& NHL has still learned nothing from the damage of the strike as the draft this coming weekend will be a closed door event (invitation only) at the Westin Hotel. Now that I am in Ottawa I was hoping to attend the event at the Corel Center and I was going to wear my Sioux Jersey and shout my support for Lee. Way to think of the fans once again Bettman you sawed-off loser!
-
DMT provided the updated and final Central Scouting List for North American skaters. Keeping in mind that Toews will be a first round pick next year, the talent and potential of this inbound Sioux class is mind-boggling
-
Unless the NHL plans to change the draft eligibility rules, once drafted, college players are exempt from the two year signing rule until they complete their education or indicate they are leaving college hockey, at which point the two year clock kicks in.

This Team Canada conspiracy thread seems to a popular one with certain members of this chat as it resurfaces several times each season. Perhaps there are certain elements within Major Junior Hockey who would like to see elite players punished for going the college route. Probably the same team executives who have lost some of those players. However, as others and I have stated before Hockey Canada wants nothing short of Gold and will take the best available players regardless of what league they come from. If there hadn't been an NHL strike last year, Zajac would have played for the Canadian Junior team in Grand Forks. College players will continue to play for Team Canada and you will get to watch the likes of Toews and BC's Bertram don the Red and White in the very near term.

Thank goodness I know French because the translation was too painful

The story in the link puts an end to the Esposito saga. http://www.tsn.ca/chl/news_story.asp?id=128506

As far as big players like Wheeler go you never know what you are going to get because they are slower to develop. Wheeler could be the next Cam Neely who didn't break out until his was 21 or he could be the next Jason Bonsignore, a total bust.
-
Actually, I think Mueller is destined to be a typical Gopher. I recall him getting tossed from the most recent U18 game against the Swiss for a very dirty hit from behind. He should fit right into Lucy's lineup.
-
No need to wait for Canuck's response. Since Sutter will be the coach again this year half-checks will not be tolerated by Team Canada.
-
Toews will play in the U18 tournament this summer. Don't be surprised if he gets an invite to the Canadian Junior team as well. The UAA series could be a challenge if the Sioux are minus all five players.

NCAA top 30 prospects for 2005 NHL draft
Sioux_Hab-it replied to Superman0099's topic in Men's Hockey
This list is merely one of undrafted NCAA Freshmen. Thanks to this years NHL strike, next years article will read: 1. Toews 2. Lee 3. Oshie 4. Chorney . . . . . . 30. Kessel
