  1. All they are doing is running out the clock, eventually enough time will have run out where everyone involved won't have to make an actual decision but they can tell everyone they tried. Which is BS but it is politics and that is the game they are playing.
  2. Wow, I don't even know what to say after reading this thread....
  3. While I am surprised that it happened the way it did, NDSU and UND could not be on radio FM at the same time. It just wouldn't work and would have probably left both schools frustrated with Radio FM. That said, I don't know why Radio FM wasn't upfront with that from the start.
  4. No, Scotty Miller will be moving over to Radio FM he will do Bison and Redhawks games and it sounded like he might host a sports night show and will also appear on other Radio FM programming.
  5. I think you're right... Faison-
  6. NDSU inks six year deal with Radio FM...
  7. I'm sure it isn't close, Montana receives a pittance for going to the NCAA basketball tournament(the money is split between conference members) while for football the only organization that takes a cut of the gate for Montana's home playoff games is the NCAA. Conferences only receive large sums of money if their teams win. It is much easier to compete in basketball, Creighton was #12 in the nation in basketball attendance last year, dwarfing Nebraska s basketball attendance. That said, the MVC is clearly in a class above the Horizon.
  8. These MVC schools all have to compete with instate Big 10 and Big 12 schools, there is a reason why their football teams suffer from a lack of interest. NDSU and UND are not comparable to the MVC schools, we are more in line with the Montana schools. Football has a much easier time being a revenue generator. Football is far from a waste of resources.
  9. Hanson was not qualified to run the school, the worries were legit because he was put in place by the SBoHE and they seemed to push him towards applying. I think if you have somebody from the outside or with more experience saying those things NDSU supporters won't be so quick to jump on that person. It didn't help Hanson that he never really sold a vision of what he wants to do with NDSU, a major responsibility of a University President is PR and he struggled in that area from day one.
  10. CBS said that in their broadcast of the UNI game, people have been getting that wrong all over the web ever since. I think NDSU will make it back in the next seven years, all you have to do is win three games, which is why getting into a conference is so important. That said, I do think UND will be fine in taking this to the deadline, but it will be vital to end it one way or the other at that time.
  11. Hopefully better than the NHL game that went up against the NCAA tournament.... http://puckthemedia.wordpress.com/2010/03/...rangers-bruins/
  12. The highest rated bowl game ever on ESPN, not sure what is so hard to understand about that. That would be higher than a number of better bowls ESPN televises, and the only reason the Alamo Bowl got such a high rating is Mike Leech. But the NCAA tournament also draws heavily with online viewers... http://www.medialifemagazine.com/artman2/p...old_for_CBS.asp
  13. Well that was the highest rated bowl game in ESPN's history.
  14. I never said Bison basketball was bigger than Sioux hockey... Sioux hockey is popular but it has little to do with ND being a hockey state. People like UND because they are successful, play in a nice arena, and you can go there and drink beer.
  15. That is true, it really only matters if you win. Then you will get on a bigger stage since there are less games in the next round and people always like to talk about and follow the Cinderella teams. I know you guys like hockey and it is a big deal in this region but I think some people were getting a little carried away because basketball is also a big deal in this region. If NDSU or UND ever have a team that is in the dance....the state will follow closely and if one wins it will be a huge deal. NDSU did come close last year, it can happen. There is a ton of basketball talent in the region.
  16. The Class B basketball tournament is the biggest sporting event in ND. Yes, people in ND like basketball! There were 12,000 Bison fans at a basketball game in Minneapolis last year, tipoff was before noon. They rolled out the TVs in schools so kids could watch the game during school. ND is not a hockey state...more delusional talk from the puck lovers.
  17. Ask them who won the national title in hockey, 95% would have no clue. You do have a good thing going up there but some of you are so blinded by your puck love that it has truly become laughable. The Big Dance is only the second biggest sporting event in the country...behind only the Super Bowl.
  18. I don't think DI was exactly the plan when Tim was hired, it may have been an idea but it wasn't a sure thing. He was hired in spring of 2001 and the announcement to go DI was in the fall of 2002. Just my opinion but I wouldn't start looking for a coach until you can say UND has at least a conference invite. It makes the job about a 100 times more attractive.
  19. Yep, no coach worth hiring goes near the job without a conference. Gotta have it to recruit and gain some kind of traction.
  20. St. Mary's was probably in the tourney already, they are a good team and Gonzaga is plenty of capable of playing a bad game.
  21. I think he is a decent guy but he is not qualified to run a large research university.
  22. I guess we had to wait in line since other towns got the worst of it in 1997, while we were lucky. Our luck almost ran out last year, hopefully we are lucky again. Something really does need to get done, of course with the small towns whining about it, it just keeps on getting slowed. Dilworth's mayor is ridiculous, with his not in my backyard attitude, he needs to wake up and realize that if Fargo floods his bedroom community will be greatly affected.
  23. There probably will be a return trip in 2011...if UND isn't in the Summit League already....
  24. I think Douple's dream is obvious, just the other day he was talking expansion in South Dakota, with UND and UNO(Nebraska-Omaha) getting favorable statements. Douple's vision.... UNO-Denver SDSU-USD NDSU-UND ORU-UMKC WIU-IUPUI IPFW-Oakland
  25. Yeah, he mentioned two expansion candidates...One of whom(UVU) the league won't even return their calls and the other(Chicago State) who was kicked out of the league a few years ago because they were basically the poorest run athletic department in DI. Don't see the league going down either one of those paths.
