POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?
FargoBison replied to ShilohSioux's topic in Football
Looks like in 2007 the line started out at NDSU +1.5 and the betting pushed the line to NDSU -5.5 or -7. http://www.therxforum.com/showthread.php?t=522226 -
Beer won't be sold at any NDSU sporting event, off or on campus unless some major changes occur within the school. The football supporters are not blocking hockey.

Read my last 500 posts, I doubt you'll see much if any smack about UND there. You know, what I never attacked your stats. I don't think they are really that meaningful, but brag about them all you want. I don't care. You are the one who ran NDSU down like it was some third rate school, I was just trying to say things can't be so bad if our athletic department is in the top 100 of the Directors Cup and our school is considered to be one of the top research institutions in the country. I think we are doing things at a pretty high level and unlike you I don't feel the need to run down a school to make myself feel better.

POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?
FargoBison replied to ShilohSioux's topic in Football
NDSU has grown as large as the state of ND will allow it to grow, if the state funded the school fairly perhaps some more moderate growth could occur but that won't be happening anytime soon. -
If NDSU basketball could sell beer and give away tickets like the Force do attendance would be much higher. In many ways the Force are just like the Redhawks...an excuse to go somewhere and drink beer. NDSU could have hockey but there are forces within the athletic department that want nothing to do with it. Even if those people could be overcome there are forces within the school that will never allow the school to sell beer during games. That is a huge revenue stream gone, it is a war just to allow alcohol for tailgating at football games.

Hard to get my feelings hurt about something that asinine. Hater? That comment is comical, I don't smack UND..hell I go to an occasional Sioux hockey game. I'm far from some bitter hater. As for NDSU we are the only ND or SD university in the very high research classification and I believe we finished in the top 100 of the Directors Cup last year, so I think we are doing just fine down here in the tractor repair shop.

Wow Star that might be the biggest load of BS you've ever written on this forum.

POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?
FargoBison replied to ShilohSioux's topic in Football
Texas Tech in 2009 was the best team either NDSU or UND have played since moving up, why this matters I have no clue. -
If NDSU builds another football stadium it won't be a dome, cost is just too much. But really we are 15-20 years at least from even talking about this, the school needs to build up demand and the economy needs to rebound in a big way. There is no way Fargo voters will foot the bill for anything else, especially when you look at how much is going into flood protection.
-
Money is tight right now, I'm sure Gene Taylor would love to have the facility you are talking about but Saul Phillips can only wait so much longer for the facility that he absolutely needs. The track has to come first, the BSA is used by so many teams that it is vital to have that space up and running for when the rest of the BSA is gutted. So it isn't like NDSU can sit around wait for another $5-10 million to come when they are already waiting for 5-10 million to finish what they have planned. An indoor practice facility is a luxury at this point and it isn't like in a few years it couldn't be added, I'm sure it would be much cheaper to build minus the seats and 300 meter track. How do you know the dome has a problem with NDSU using it's facility? Last time I checked the school pays rent and the dome makes a good deal of money on NDSU's games. Obviously they aren't going to cancel concerts/trade shows to let NDSU practice but it isn't like the dome is jam packed with events, especially during football season. Plus I don't think Bohl has any issue with practicing outside on his nice new sprinturf practice field.
-
I wouldn't laugh, some of NDSU's current and former track athletes have done very well for themselves on the highest of national levels. NDSU doesn't need an indoor practice arena, the Fargodome is the home of NDSU football and it takes a handful of people hardly 30 minutes to setup the field besides that Bohl likes practicing outside. Supposedly the new track had to happen first so work on the rest of the BSA could begin later.

If it is I would be sitting in a glacier right now. The earth obviously has warm cycles and cold cycles, what causes them are very much up for debate. Maybe you are thinking of Anthropogenic(man-made) Global Warming.
-
Global warming isn't a farce but the thought that man was the driving force behind it probably is.
-
The only party that would be laughed out of the courtroom is the state of ND. The law that passed was a joke and the people that passed it had no clue what they were doing. I've always wanted UND to keep the name but that was not the way to go about doing it, now your admin, coaches and student athletes are stuck in a terrible mess that they in no way deserve.
-
The SBoHE will have to clean up their mess, I'm guessing they'll challenge the state law rather quickly now that UND has been put into this position.
-
Who are they going to show down with? Some of you need to understand that the NCAA has zero motivation to change their course, the easiest thing for them to do is just sit back and say we settled this a few years ago and you knew what the consequences were going to be. That may not be right or fair but it is reality. The only thing that will change that reality is if the current Standing Rock tribal council gives their blessing for UND to keep the name.
-
I wouldn't be shocked if there was a president or two that is unhappy with having just UND in the Big Sky but I doubt it is any kind of consensus. This is more about not wanting to bring this controversy into the league and going against the NCAA. Hopefully your admin and the SBoHE can act quickly and get this resolved, none of your coaches or student athletes deserve this.

POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?
FargoBison replied to ShilohSioux's topic in Football
If there was a 12 game schedule it would make a lot of sense, playing five home games does not make sense for NDSU's bottom line. Maybe it does for UND but I don't know. Gene gave your AD a workable framework to continue the rivalry and he said no. There are no excuses anymore, Gene doesn't want five home game every other year. That is why they game won't happen every year, if you don't like it your AD should have never stopped the annual game from happening years ago. Now NDSU doesn't need that UND game on the schedule as much as in the DII era, it will only happen if it makes sense or if the legislature eventually forces the schools to play. -

That has to be the dumbest thing I have ever read. Taylor will play UND, as long as your AD doesn't demand an annual game. -

2013 vs Montana State @ Kansas St 2014 vs Montana @ Iowa State 2015 @ Montana I can just about guarantee there will be more games with Montana State. Taylor offered UND a reasonable deal, every other year home and homes and your ad said no. Taylor isn't making excuses anymore, he just doesn't want a yearly game and it is hard to blame him when looking at our future schedules. He won't budge on that, the next AD won't budge on that, it doesn't make sense for NDSU or UND to play an annual game. One school basically gets stuck with just five home games every other year if that is the case. That isn't acceptable in Fargo and I doubt it is in GF either. -
Every member but two(SIU and Indiana State) was in favor of adding NDSU. When SDSU said it is both or none, SIU and Indiana State came on board, initially they had issues with the travel of making multiple trips to the Dakotas. Those same schools complained when USD was added.
-
Pretty sure NDSU fans never hated the idea of joining of the MVFC/Gateway, most fans loved the idea. The only reason nobody was enthusiastic about it was because the Gateway didn't show any interest in adding NDSU until three or four years into our transition. The Big Sky showed immediate interest. As for NDSU joining the Big Sky, most coaches would revolt. Nobody wants to deal with that extra travel burden for a conference that is just as good as the one we are in.

POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?
FargoBison replied to ShilohSioux's topic in Football
Not sure about that, Since the game will be played when both teams are playoff eligible I think it will have a lot of meaning and atmosphere. Also Bison-Sioux on the hardwood was never half as intense as Bison-Sioux on the gridiron, you just can't compare the two. -
NDSU will play an FBS team in 2013, who it is hasn't been announced yet though. NDSU only plays 8 MVFC conference games so there is also still another FCS game yet to be announced. The game with South Dakota was originally scheduled as a non-conference game, so that schedule still needs to be updated. Taylor and Bohl are probably mulling over whether to schedule 12 games in 2013, they passed on doing so in 2008 because they thought the extra bye would have been more useful. Not sure if their thinking is still the same.
-
That is an FBS model, it is based on a 12 game schedule. It isn't that easy in the FCS. NDSU wants to play an FBS every year, if we play UND ever year that means one year we end up with just five home games. Now that both schools have eight conference games I think Taylor's every other year idea is looking ideal, or at least it should be tried for a few years.
