This is at least the second or third time I have heard something about protestors down at St. Cloud. Is this a common thing when the Sioux are in town or something ? And why is it just in St. CLoud, and not in all cities where the Sioux play a road series ? Maybe there is a reservation nearby or something...that would be my guess.

Since the Sioux aren't playing NDSU in football or anything for that matter, who would you consider your new rival ? Down here in Bison country, NDSU is pushing for a new rivalry with SDSU. Definitely not the same, we have no hatred involved here, and I assume it's the same for the Sioux with their new "rival", if you have one. I mean, we're trying to win a landmark trophy every year in the annual Bunnies vs Bison football game, wow, get's me really excited . Nothing like seeing the players hoisting a big nickel over their heads after the game, now that was a trophy.

Minnesota State High School Hockey Championship
TinyTimmay replied to siouxnami's topic in Men's Hockey
Wow, 6-1 ? I turned it on with about 5 to go and some Warroad kid was laying by the boards, apparent leg injury, and the score at that point was 3-1. I did see Marvins' second goal to make it 4-1 on a nice, fundamental, crash the net and look for a rebound goal. Going down Friday morning to the cities, should be a fun weekend of hockey. -
What are the Sioux basketball teams averaging for attendance ?

Looks like me and a couple of buddies are going to head down to the cities this weekend for some hockey. My buddies are Moorhead high alum and we're all pulling for Lee, Vandevelde, and the rest of the Spuds to finally bring a title back home with them. Should be some great hockey. Probably going to try and catch a Warroad game to, and take another look at Oshie. Hopefully the next time I post anything in the future recruits thread, it will include some point totals for Lee and Vandy in the championship game, and some congrats on a state championship. Good Luck at state Spuds!!!! And of course.....GO SIOUX!!!

I'm curious. What sort of hockey facility do they have in Milwaukee ? Or were we thinking of Madison, the capital, and home of the Badgers ? Not so sure I would like to see the Final 5 moved away from the Xcel, other than to the Ralph of course. Makes going to it alot easier, being only 3.5 hours from Fargo, and if at the Ralph, only the 70 mile trip. But Madison and Denver, long hauls. An upside to getting it out of the Xcel, is taking away the home ice it gives the Goofers every year they're in it. And not having to sit amongst 10,000 rodent fans. And not having to hear M-I-N-N-E-S-O-T-A every freakin' time something happens on the ice. Go Sioux!!!

Does anyone know of any Bar/Grill in the Fargo Moorhead area that has Sioux hockey on their TV's ? Nothing better than watching hockey and eating wings or nachos (Except maybe watching hockey and drinking beer, but I don't drink so..). And also, will the Siouxnetwork on channel 44 of cable subscribers in Fargo, be showing the games this weekend ? I'm going to try and get up to the Ralph on Saturday night, and I would really like to hear some people making some noise. Go Sioux !!!

Does anyone have any insight on the plans of college players and how this lockout will affect their decision to stay in college longer, ie. Sioux Players ? Or will Europe, AHL, or a professional league that rivals the NHL, draw them away still ?
-
I'm kind of surprised that no one has said anything about this yet. Maybe it's because no one really cares about the NHL at this point. Does the possibilty of there not being a season next year also, have some effect on current college players to stick around for another season ? Like Drew or Green ? I'm not sure what Staff's status was, or if he was even thinking of leaving this early. I mean, there is only going to be so many roster spots available in the AHL, Europe and so forth. Thoughts, complaints, fingerpointing, anything you got.......? I personally think a salary cap in the $42 Million range would be sufficient, and a salary cap has shown that it works, in other major sports. I think the players are to blame for this "terrible" turn of events. I also caught Phil Esposito saying that he and some others are going to start "another league". Haven't heard much more for details on that. Go Sioux !!!

15-0 Moorhead over Monticello tonight in MHD. Lee with a hat trick for sure, maybe a couple of assists. Not sure on Vandevelde, for sure got some points, like everyone else on the team. Next up is Alexandria, 3-2 winners tonight against Bemidji. Saturday's game is in MHD. Anyone know where the Section final will be played ? Was in St. Cloud last year, be nice if it was closer.

If you had a chance to get out to the Russia vs USA game on Christmas night. I do believe Russia's second goal came off a penalty shot. That's when the kid motioned to the then quiet crowd with his hand up to his ear. Wasn't able to see what his reaction was to the USA National Anthem being played at the end, signifying a 5-4 USA win.

Learn reading what ? Hey, I was a homeschooled kid, so we can forget about me learning anything. I guess I can see what your saying, blinders and all.

I'm sitting here trying to figure out where this all came from. I can understand you not liking NDSU, but to rip on an entire city because of the college within it, is a little befuddling to me (spell check on befuddling). And you compare the Alerus to the Fargodome, have you been in both ? Do you ever get that big steel storage shed feel when watching a football game in the Alerus ? Not real sure what that feels like, but you know what I mean. And about all these UND fans down here. They are basically two groups of people. 1) Alumni that, yes, found a better job down here, or 2) Bandwagoners that got tired of watching UND football whip up on the Bison the last decade or so, and after seeing UND finally win a D2 title (after NDSU has won 8). I may be way off and I'm sure I'm gonna get ripped on bigtime, but who cares, that's what makes these things fun right ? But hearing a Sioux fan ripping on my hometown, kind of chaps my hide. And to think that this is the normal way of thinking of most Sioux fans, maybe. And I'm trying my best to become a Sioux "hockey" fan, when I've been a Bison fan my whole life. Makes me want to see a hockey program get going here, an NDSU hockey team, not a club team either, that I can start cheering for. Yeah, they might be real bad, for a long time probably, but if UND came to town and could'nt score any goals, which is very very likely to happen, hey we might have a chance. Rip away people !!! Gp Sioux !!!............(hockey)

Riley Riddell is currently on the roster for the Idaho Steelheads. The only post I've made in over 2 weeks and it's about some kid I've never even heard of until I read this thread, pathetic isn't it ? Go Sioux !!!

Great game in MHD saturday. Probably one of the best HS games I think I've ever seen. Both schools worked really hard and Warroad seemed to even have an extra step and more scoring chances. Not really sure what happened there at the end of regulation and why they put 6 seconds back on when the whistle blew with about 3 to go. Oh well, props to Warroad for throwing one on net and getting it done. Lee seemed a little out of it, and to sound a little Lucia like, probably because he played in the WJC a couple of weeks ago. Took some bad penalties and didn't seem as aggresive as other times I've watched him. Oshie was given alot of attention, but he is quick and good on his skates. Would like to see Ammerman wearing green and white, but heard an earlier comment on another thread about him wanting to get out of Lee's shadow. Not so sure what to think about that, but oh well. Tough weekend for the Sioux too, not going to rehash anything because it has all been covered I think. And to sound a little John Madden like, I think if the Sioux just scored more goals than the other team, they would win the game.

For one, I'm not fairweather. I am a newbie to the "Sioux nation" but I take my sports seriously and never go halfway when rooting for anybody. And I'm not sure how their considered small market either, have you seen the facility they're playing in ? And I thought I stated I wasn't complaining, and sorry if I came across like that, but I think more than a few people would agree with me, maybe.
-
Well I'm lucky enough to say I have been able to watch the game while at work. But does anyone else have that feeling they're watching a HS hockey game ? I don't want to come off as complaining, but man, this is awful. I don't know if it's Sweeney, the lack of crowd audio, the guy running the camera who can't follow a puck, or what ? As much as I dislike the Gophers, I can't help but think how fun and exciting it is to watch them on TV. They have energetic announcers and the Gopher style of play is fun to watch too. I am grateful I'm able to watch Sioux hockey down here in Fargo, but I expect a little more quality from the people covering one of, if not the greatest, hockey programs in the nation. Go Sioux !!! PS: Going to the Warroad / Moorhead game tomorrow. Lee and Oshie. Should be fun.

OK, forget my prior attempt at sounding like a good honest employee, I'm going to watch the rest of the game. I mean, what's more important. Go CC tomorrow night. And again, that's all I got.
