  1. I couldn't agree more that things may be different for Wentz without Crockett back there. In fact, I think they for sure will be different. Crock was a senior last year, and he wanted to go out big and be the workhorse for that team, and Carson didn't have a problem giving him the ball 368 times. Guy almost ran for 2,000 yards. I think Carson knew that he'd get his turn as a Senior the following year. The coaches have already said they've expanded the playbook and given Carson more pre snap responsibilities. His receiving core returns a 6th year senior in Zach Vraa who came back because he had an injury plagued season last year and he has professional aspirations after college. True sophmore RJ Urzendowski returns after a huge freshman year, Clutch player. Moody, another Sr. and former walk on comes back after missing last year. Depth could be there with who they have and also with the addition of an incoming freshman WR that could possibly play right away from what I hear. I think TE is one of the strongest positions on the team. A lot of weapons for Carson to choose from. I'm taking a wait and see approach with the RB's because I can't say for sure how they'll do at this point. One thing I am pretty sure of though is, and that's the line you mentioned. If Johnson and Kelly are both 100% when the season starts, this line could really be something special. Dunn at RB showed some things at the spring game that blew me away. King is the Nebraska transfer and Morlock is the former Spud. These 3 running behind that line should hopefully be able to find a way to get a few yards, and keep opposing defenses honest. So after saying all of that, my point is that I think the different pieces being put into place are probably going to help Carson even more. After what he showed us last year, which was a pretty good for a first year starter, there's no reason for me to doubt he'll be successful again.
  2. Right, because your previous post was such a good attempt at getting this back on track. I'm not looking to argue, but what would lead you to believe Carson Wentz could be a bust? You do know he already has a season under his belt, don't you?
  3. Appreciate the reply. I would agree with kicker as that is one of our unknowns at this point. I know you guys are excited about the LB core, could that be a spot where you may have an edge? In the past, the 3-4 has given the Bison issues. That trend doesn't seem to be as noticeable lately, but UNI runs it and they had their way with our offense in Cedar Falls last season.
  4. Here's an attempt to extinguish this dumpster fire of a thread. On game day, the Fargo Forum will usually break down the matchups of the Bison and their opponent and check off who they feel has the advantage. We like our offense, you like your defense. Where do you as UND fans feel your team can create problems for the Bison? I think we can all agree on who the favorite in this game will be, and I'm not saying that like it's a sure win for NDSU...because that's why they play the game. But, where do you think the Forum would give you a check or two, or three or four, etc.?
  5. I'm going to have to go ahead and side with the upset UND fans in this thread. Bison fans shouldn't be here unless both schools are recruiting the same kid and some legitimate discussion about said kid takes place. At least that's my opinion anyway. Recruiting is a guessing game and no one knows how any of these kids will turn out. Therefore, on paper, it really shouldn't matter how many offers they have or not. They have 8 verbal's so far from kids that want to play here. How many times do I see Bison fans say how much they want players that really want to be a Bison? A lot. I'm only speculating, but I think the majority of UND fans are pretty aware of the situation their football program is in and was in with the previous coaching staff. Nothing wrong with them being excited about the kids that are coming in and how they'll do under a coach the fans are confident in as well. They're fans just like we are, let them enjoy the future players that are coming into their program. If their team is going to get better, they know they'll need kids that are willing to put in the work.
  6. Wait until September, it'll only get better.
  7. Might have meant preseason AA, which he is for the 2015 season.
  8. Could be. I guess my point was in defense of the Fargo girls, they don't have quite the reputation as those WF girls.
  9. Haha, think and know are two entirely different things And it's always been the West Fargo girls...
  10. You guys can keep the nickel. Personally, the only thing I care about is the score at the end of the game.
  11. Another unknown at this point. Barneson has a big leg, but I only saw it on kickoffs. The one thing I noticed with him though is he tends to kick towards the sidelines. I'm pretty sure without looking at the roster, that there is a RFr in the mix, and also a incoming freshman recruit that could get a look. Big shoes to fill, that's for sure.
  12. Ha! Remember that one time though, when this thread was simply talking about football and the game on Sept. 19th? Check it out, it's only a couple of pages away. It's the same old song and dance around here. Good discussion get's interrupted by trollish behavior from both fan bases. Sure, it's your board so you justify the baiting. When you catch something though, it's all the fish's fault. Some of you UND fans say you don't want to have a conversation with a Bison fan, but you'll go back and forth arguing about stuff that happened over 10 years ago...makes sense. I don't care about who said or did what, I'm just glad we get to play again. Sure be nice if we could just focus on that.
  13. You're welcome. The thing is, outside of the DL, there wasn't much playing time available for backups. The group of seniors that graduated were out there for most of the snaps. A lot of the guys that will be starting this year have had opportunities on special teams, but not many defensive reps.
  14. My thoughts exactly. Those are some pretty big shoes to fill at the safety spots. Overall thoughts on the D, no one can replace a Kyle Emmanuel, but I'm confident we can still get pressure on the QB from guys that have taken plenty of game snaps already. The LB core will have a solid captain in the middle with DeLuca, so hopefully he can help the young guys on the outside with assignments and shifts pre snap. But back to the safeties. We lose two 4 year starters and those guys changed a defense with how well they could come up in support of the run, Heagle especially at the strong spot. Sure, we've got some tremendous athletes that will be out there now, but no one can say for sure how they'll do until we see them on the field for a bit. I think from a Bison fans perspective, part of the reason that we remain as confident in our defense every year even after we lose key players, is our head coach. He made our defense into something special as our DC and we know that he's going to continue to be involved in the D even as the head coach. They aren't a perfect unit, and at times in the playoffs last year they looked a bit vulnerable. It's been discussed pretty thoroughly on Bville about why this happened, so I won't share with you any of the "excuses" we came up with If UND is going to win this game, they'll have to do to NDSU what NDSU does to most teams. Run the ball, control the clock, limit turnovers, play good field position. Your experienced line against our young D Line could give your QB some extra time in the pocket, but your receivers will have to find a way to get open against some pretty decent corners. With everything I've read about your RB situation, I like our chances in stopping the run, even with an inexperienced LB core. I'm a firm believer in match ups in every game played. That's why I don't like to use the common opponent thing because there are so many different variables in play. And I agree with many UND fans on here about waiting until our teams have played a couple of games to really get a better idea of what to expect on Sept. 19th. I've been waiting for this game for a long time, can't wait!!
  15. Who are you asking the question to? Use quotes man, it makes for easier conversation.
  16. And this surprises you? Ask yourself why this might be the case based upon the state of where our respective programs are at. Not condoning the trolls behavior at all, but it seems pretty obvious why the trolls and "attitude" are where it's at.
  17. Most "normal" fans don't even go on their own teams fan forum. People that are active on fan forums are the minority, not the norm. I still don't see any issues with being on other future opponents fan forums for good, clean discussion. The rival factor makes it near impossible with our fan bases though.
  18. Exactly! Sports and the discussion of sports amongst fans would be pretty boring if every game played went perfectly, nothing weird happened, no one exceeded expectations, every contest was clean, every athlete was 100% healthy, every call was perfect, no one outplayed the other on that day, rivals didn't play more inspired, etc. Sports talk shows wouldn't have anything to talk about when breaking down games played. Call them excuses, but there are a lot of things that are factored into wins and losses.
  19. I know you said "if", but speculating on how a reaction will be on a game that hasn't been played yet is pretty tough to do. I can speculate all day about how I think the game will be played, who I think will win, and maybe even speculate on a final score. But until the game is played, and we see what sort of events unfold in that 60 minutes, then I can't say for sure. Are you asking that if this game is close, and I don't know for sure what you think close is by numbers, or if UND wins, are Bison fans going to come over here and congratulate your fan base? I'm gonna go with....probably not. I'd expect nothing different at Bisonville if the Bison win. PS: I don't mind giving credit where it's due, and mark it down here, I'll come over here and say some very good things about your team and program after the game, regardless of the outcome. I don't like your football team, not going to lie about that at all. But it is your fan board for your team and I'm a guest here, and I can be respectful of that.
  20. Clearly this thread dies when it stays on topic. Went a few weeks without anything, and then TrollND7 pipes up and y'all start responding.
  21. So obviously you'll sell out your allotment of visitor tickets. I also think your fans should have just as good a chance as Bison fans to get a few single game tickets when they go on sale. They sell out fast, but there's no reason y'all can't snag a few. Standing room only is another option but I don't know for sure how many of those they sell. If this game doesn't set a record for attendance, then there's something wrong with that. When other MVFC teams not named SDSU come into town, there's usually only a 100 fans or so, maybe less. Mostly parents, siblings and significant others I'm assuming. Not 100% sure what your Champions Club is, but I assume NDSU would be willing to work with the organization and figure out a good spot. As far as you guys wanting to tailgate, there's a really large concrete parking lot west of the dome that is first come first serve. Better get in line early though, again they go fast.
  22. Ok, I think 06 cleared the path for those of us that aren't here to troll, but actually want to talk about this game. For the record, I'm not one of those that thinks this rivalry is dead or whatever it is y'all keep saying about how most Bison fans feel. Sure, there's like 3 "Bison fans" on here that keep spewing that crap and it's obvious trolling, but I'm sure the smart UND fans on this site realize that's all it is. Just ignore them. It's the same sort of thing we see on BV but those trolls are usually NDSU fans, and you get the usual crowd that can't help themselves and have to go back and forth with them. Drives me nuts. Anyway, about the game and some of the comments I've read up to this point. i'm picking the Bison in this one. I've seen plenty of these Bison/UND games to know that anything can happen and picking a score is tough, when picking a winner is even tougher. I've seen the term blowout used around here. What's your definition of a blowout? To me, a blowout doesn't always mean a lopsided score. A blowout can show up on the stat sheet but not on the scoreboard. If the Bison win by only 10 points, but rush for 250+, control the clock by running all day long, and the defense keeps UND off balance and out of rythym, then I'll be happy. Sure, UND has more head to head wins against the Herd, but 12 titles is still more than 1. Does that mean we're a more dominant football program? Meh, whatever. I love it a lot when the Bison beat UND, but I like National Championships even more than that. Atmosphere is gonna be great! Too bad I'm gonna miss this one, buddy decided to get married that day and I'm a groomsmen. My ticket will be available, but the last time I asked around here what someone would pay, I didn't get but maybe one serious reply.
