  1. UC-Santa Barbara Gauchos Sounds to me like they're "exploiting" two ethnic groups.
  2. It was a disappointing crowd, only 8,009 in attendance. It really thinned out at halftime. The atmosphere was loud and fantastic during the first half but very dead in the second half with a 35-0 lead. Can't figure out why such a small crowd this weekend when averaging over 10,000 before this game. Will probably be worse against USD as it is the opening weekend of deer hunting. Hopefully the implications of that game will help to prove me wrong. As for this game, the running game looked very good, Strouth, Chappel, and Beatty all ran well. Belmore had his best game since early in the 2005 season, that was nice to see. His deep throws looked very nice. Dressler, what can I say, he is awesome. Defense played well, got after the QB all day. A couple mistakes made my the secondary was the biggest problem. Lately, Hoffschneider has been good for one stupid penalty per game. Can't figure out Bubba's program. Throwing the ball all day and connecting on big plays is fun and exciting but you have to have some type of running game don't you. At least attempt to run the ball to keep the defense honest. I wonder why he allows his OC to run the offense that way. It is kind of like watching a basketball team that lives and dies by the 3-pointer.
  3. With the change at QB I'll adjust my prediction. Looking forward to heading up to the game today. I think Belmore will keep it close . Chappel goes for 150 yards and UND wins by 10.
  4. I thought someone on the Executive Committee said that if just one person is offended, then that is cause for facing the sanctions. Well, as a caucasian ND farmer, I feel abused . Man with all of white farmers and Native Americans that reside in the state of North Dakota, there are potentially alot of abused people living in this state.
  5. NO! I have no desire for UND to ever become a Kent St. type football program. I like I-AA because the majority of schools that sponsor football in that division are similar in scope to UND and they have a playoff system. The lure of I-A is supposedly the exposure and money from reaching a bowl game. Well, I don't think that the exposure and money that would be garnered from having a "successful" 6-5 season and earning a berth in "Bob's Bait-Shop Bowl" would be that much greater than being a perennial contender in I-AA . I'm not sure I think it is like the old DII, rather it is more like the old college division before DI and DII were created.
  6. WYO, I wish NDSU and all you Bison fans all the luck in getting in the Gateway, it would be great for your program. But........as I try to be an objective die-hard Sioux fan (as objective as a Bison-hater can be, that is ) it is really not that great of news for UND. I've been looking forward to joining a solid 7 team GWFC (if USD moves up too) for our first year of DI. It is looking now like it might only be 5 teams, or worse yet 4 if USD stays in DII. As you well know, that is alot of non-conference games to try to piece together. I expected a Gateway invite would be coming at some point for NDSU and SDSU, just not quite this soon.

    Manke

WDAZ said that Belmore will start , but Manke will be available if needed .
  8. Star, it looks like your prediction about the Gateway may come to fruition. I hope you are just as accurate about your predictions about the Big Sky!
  9. I don't know if it would require knocking the stadium down entirely. Assuming the University ever needs to do this it is because there is a need to provide seating for 20,000+ spectators for football games. I'd leave the west side bleacher seating intact, as is, and designate it for students, visitors, and general admission. Complete the full bowl or horseshoe, whatever is required, around the stadium with reserved bucket seating and with luxury boxes on the east and north sides. In an outdoor stadium, luxury boxes will generate much more revenue than in a domed stadium.
  10. I don't see why it is not an option to put synthetic turf in Memorial Stadium and play soccer in there. If..........IF UND football ever does outgrow the Alerus, Memorial could be rennovated to add full bowl seating to accomodate upwards of 20,000 fans, similar to the University of Montana's stadium. I still don't understand why the swimming program was not moved to the Wellness Center when it was built. The Hyslop should be converted to a a building devoted mostly to tennis, so the sport can be moved on-campus. If we do want the Big Sky, a men's tennis program will have to be added. I don't know what to think about baseball and softball, I'm a Lacrosse fan.
  11. Really? So if you are a season ticket holder for NDSU football and you miss one game, do you think they count the attendance by the the ticket they sold and mailed to you in July, or do you really think that they take note of the absence of your "butt in the seat"? Odds are the Fargodome/NDSU does it the same way that virtually all NCAA institutions do it. They print up a ticket for every seat in the building and keep track of how many are sold (or in NDSU's case, given away). "Paid attendance" is pretty much the norm.
  12. I'll be damaged. My wife has painted 10 ft. Fighting Sioux logos both in my home office and in my farm-shop. If UND is forced to change the name, is the NCAA gonna buy my wife new paint and pay her for her time?
  13. I'm planning on going to the football game in St. Cloud. I'm a season ticket holder and I'm wondering the best way to go about getting tickets. I'm wondering if UND gets an alotment and I should call the UND ticket office, the SCSU ticket office, or Ticketmaster and ask for the visitors section. I want to be in the same section as the other Sioux fans. Thanks.
  14. I'm looking for 4 tickets to any of the following games. Sat. Dec. 1 vs. US 18s (exhibition) Sat. Dec. 9 vs. Wisconsin Fri. Jan. 12 vs. Alaska Anchorage Fri. Feb. 9 vs. Minnesota St. Fri. Feb. 16 vs. Minnesota-Duluth Offering $30 per ticket in the lower bowl for the above games. pm or email: jci@invisimax.com
  15. I wonder if Bubba is gonna freak out like the last time his team played in the Alerus? Seriously, I think UMD is kind of a disappointment this year. I expected them to be one of the top 3 teams in the NCC this year. The bye week couldn't have come at a better time this year, as far as Manke is concerned and Taylor Murray on the offensive line. At home, coming off that heartbreaker to UNO, I expect UND to win by 21.
  16. Seattle U. would be just the type of school that the WCC would be looking for if they wanted to expand.
  17. It is a huge can of worms the NCAA has opened with this ridiculous policy. Lets just say hypothetically that the season finished with UND as the #1 seed and GVSU as the #3 seed. (I know UNO beat us and that won't happen but bear with me). Now lets say that USD gets in as the #4 seed and Winona as the #6 seed. So Winona would get a home game while USD has to travel to Grand Valley. It gives the weakest team in the playoff field the unfair advantage of hosting. Had UND not lost to UNO and went into the final week of the season #1 in the region, teams ranked 4-6 would be fighting it out to get the #6 seed because they know theyd get their first game at home. What would the 4 and 5 seeds think about that if it ever played out. If this ever happened, half of the Northwest Region would be pissed at the NCAA. While meant to penalize UND the enforcement of this insane policy could corrupt the entire playoff system and penalize every lower seeded team that isn't fortunate enough to draw UND as an opponent.
  18. Hammersmith, can you expand on your statement about the Northeast Conference and Pioneer Leauge. I know the Pioneer is non-scholarship and doesn't participate in the playoffs, and isn't the Northeast limited scholarship? Are they going full scholarship and trying to get an autobid or something? Also another question for you or star2city or someone that knows all the procedures and rules for the NCAA divisions. How come the GWFC would have to take an autobid from an existing conference? Couldn't they just do away with one of the at-large bids when the conference meets the autobid criteria membership-wise? The GWFC is one of the top 3 I-AA football conferences, and is only going to get stronger when/if UND joins. Or is it a by-law or something that half of the playoff field must come from autobids and the other half from at-large bids?
  19. Over on D2football.com, there is a thread with a copy of an e-mail sent by USD to its students. It is a Q & A survey regarding a DI move. It asks the obvious questions like conference, cost, facilities, etc. To me, every answer comes off as overly pro-moving DI. Sounds more like an advertisement in favor of a move than anything. And they've hired a consulting firm. LINK I think UND may have a partner in this move.
  20. I think for the most part, you can usually get tickets a few days before most games, depending on the game of couse. Most likely will be very high up in the upper bowl however. I've never had trouble save for maybe UMTC, Wisco, and Denver
  21. I could see the Montana schools, especially U of M, threatening to make a play for the WAC the next time Big Sky expansion comes around unless the other presidents take a hard look at adding a school or two that is an attractive peer institution to them, academically, athletically, and geographically. Who will be available in the next 5 years that fits that criteria?
