I believe this was the first year in the last five or so that there were only 10 games wasn't it? I hope we get 11 next year. Six home games would be nice

NCAA serious about I-A attendance requirements?
bincitysioux replied to jimdahl's topic in NCAA News
I believe that tickets must be sold for at least half of face value to count toward the requirement. -
Do You Think UND's Final Destination Should be Division IA?
bincitysioux replied to Cratter's topic in NCAA News
Athletics are often the face of a University. The move is about more than just sports. -
I'll be making the trip to St. Cloud this weekend. Anyone else? SCSU is a bit down this year at just 3-6, but in recent years they've played the Sioux pretty well. I expect UND to win handily this weekend but there are a couple of things to be concerned about with St. Cloud. They played very well this past weekend and had the lead AT Omaha until the 4th quarter. UND hasn't exactly set the world on fire in any NCC contest this year, save for this past weekend against Duluth. Hopefully they've righted the ship. They have a solid defense overall. SCSU has the seond leading pass defense in the NCC this year so I hope that Chappel, Strouth, and Beatty play as well as they did against UMD. The Huskies are also leading the NCC in total defense this year. I think their anemic offense going against UND's defense will be too much to overcome though. UND 24 SCSU 13

They announced they'd look into it the same time USD did after UND announced their intentions to move. There really has not been any news about it out of Sioux Falls since then, which was June or July. Some speculate they may move and go non-scholarship football, but who knows. I personally doubt they'll move up.

Getting geared up for the start of basketball season. Purdue is less than a week away. I see UND's 2006-07 Prospectus is out, and so is the NCC Media Guide. I know South Dakota is ranked 14th in the preseason poll, but Minnesota St. should be very good again this year as well. As for the Sioux, I'm not sure what to expect, but I am excited to see a different style of program from what we have seen the last 5 years or so. UND had virtually no presence in the paint last year. That should change with a healthy Koenig, the addition of Dryburgh, and hopefully the 6-9 265 lb. freshman Ben Lehnertz can contribute. Gutter is a big body as well. A couple of thoughts/questions about some of the incoming players: Boyce, Dryburgh, and Youmens: I like the fact that all three of these guys come from winning programs, which usually means they play with a team first mentality, rather than a me first mentality. Youmens was a big scorer and Boyce a good shooter FG% wise, two things this teams needs. Little: Had nice stats at his JC last year, averaged around 15 points and shot 40% on 3-pointers. But he only played in six games. Was he injured or was it for other reasons?

UC-Santa Barbara Gauchos Sounds to me like they're "exploiting" two ethnic groups.

It was a disappointing crowd, only 8,009 in attendance. It really thinned out at halftime. The atmosphere was loud and fantastic during the first half but very dead in the second half with a 35-0 lead. Can't figure out why such a small crowd this weekend when averaging over 10,000 before this game. Will probably be worse against USD as it is the opening weekend of deer hunting. Hopefully the implications of that game will help to prove me wrong. As for this game, the running game looked very good, Strouth, Chappel, and Beatty all ran well. Belmore had his best game since early in the 2005 season, that was nice to see. His deep throws looked very nice. Dressler, what can I say, he is awesome. Defense played well, got after the QB all day. A couple mistakes made my the secondary was the biggest problem. Lately, Hoffschneider has been good for one stupid penalty per game. Can't figure out Bubba's program. Throwing the ball all day and connecting on big plays is fun and exciting but you have to have some type of running game don't you. At least attempt to run the ball to keep the defense honest. I wonder why he allows his OC to run the offense that way. It is kind of like watching a basketball team that lives and dies by the 3-pointer.

Who do you want to start on Saturday?

Lets see what Walski can do. -
With the change at QB I'll adjust my prediction. Looking forward to heading up to the game today. I think Belmore will keep it close . Chappel goes for 150 yards and UND wins by 10.

I thought someone on the Executive Committee said that if just one person is offended, then that is cause for facing the sanctions. Well, as a caucasian ND farmer, I feel abused . Man with all of white farmers and Native Americans that reside in the state of North Dakota, there are potentially alot of abused people living in this state.

Do You Think UND's Final Destination Should be Division IA?
bincitysioux replied to Cratter's topic in NCAA News
NO! I have no desire for UND to ever become a Kent St. type football program. I like I-AA because the majority of schools that sponsor football in that division are similar in scope to UND and they have a playoff system. The lure of I-A is supposedly the exposure and money from reaching a bowl game. Well, I don't think that the exposure and money that would be garnered from having a "successful" 6-5 season and earning a berth in "Bob's Bait-Shop Bowl" would be that much greater than being a perennial contender in I-AA . I'm not sure I think it is like the old DII, rather it is more like the old college division before DI and DII were created. -
WYO, I wish NDSU and all you Bison fans all the luck in getting in the Gateway, it would be great for your program. But........as I try to be an objective die-hard Sioux fan (as objective as a Bison-hater can be, that is ) it is really not that great of news for UND. I've been looking forward to joining a solid 7 team GWFC (if USD moves up too) for our first year of DI. It is looking now like it might only be 5 teams, or worse yet 4 if USD stays in DII. As you well know, that is alot of non-conference games to try to piece together. I expected a Gateway invite would be coming at some point for NDSU and SDSU, just not quite this soon.
