Anyone with slightly below average intelligence should not sign these petitions. Therefore, I will not............................... I suspect they will get alot of signatures at the NDSU basketball game though..................................
-
I wonder if there is any chance that Altitude may look to the NCHC for more programming given that Denver and Colorado College are in their coverage area....................
-
My guess is that Gene Taylor is getting a cut of the parking revenue............... It is the only way that that tool would have allowed Saul Phillips to schedule this game.........................
-
I'm a big fan of capitalism, I just think that it sucks that I'll be able to park for free, closer to the doors of the Sioux Center, for the next home game.................. This is all NDSU's fault...................

6,000 to 7,000 expected at UND-NDSU men's basketball game [url=http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/226756/group/homepage/] It'll be interesting to see how they've "tightened" things up a bit to make the REA a better basketball venue. I doubt it is as good as Dakotadan's idea of pushing the floor back to one of the red-lines, but IMO anything would help. I've been to several basketball games at REA, and have always been disappointed by the environment except for when we play the Bison. I'd much rather watch a game in the Betty with 3,000 people than watch a game in REA with 5,000. Also a bit ticked that they are gonna charge hockey season ticket holders for parking. I've been to plenty of games at the Sioux Center and not had to pay to park. But tomorrow I apparently have to.............

I'm assuming it won't affect us all that much. Altitude has been the Big Sky's television partner in recent seasons. At most, it probably just means that any time North Dakota plays Montana or Montana St. in football, you'll have more options to watch it, especially if you live in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, or Montana. All UM and MSU games are televised home and away, and the FSSN/UNDSN has a good track record of picking up available satellite feeds of away games. This might make it easier for Sioux fans that are not DirecTV or Midcontinent subsribers to see the Sioux. My understanding is that UND's deal with Fox College Sports is largely unaffected by any TV deals that the Big Sky or the NCHC makes. Just that Root Sports and CBS College Sports will have "first-right-of-refusal" type deal....................

Attendance of last three Sioux-Bison games in REA: 2001-02: 5,942 2002-03: 8,891 2003-04: 7,247 I'd be surprised if attendance even approached the 10,000-ish number that was for the game in Fargo last year. NDSU fans care much more about playing North Dakota than vice-versa. I'll say 7,500 or so sounds about right for this game. I'm sure looking forward to it, heading up with a party of 9 tomorrow.............

I think if ANY of the Dakota schools ever wind up in the MVC, it will look nothing like the MVC that we know today.............................
-
I don't see much out of line with that comment. North Dakota has already beaten the 2nd place teams in the Summit and Big Sky, might as well add a lower tier Summit school to the victim list..........................
-
I'd prefer a 180 to a 360.........................
-
The only flaw in your logic is that last season NAIA Black Hills St. outdrew DI Drake and DI South Dakota.........................

Thank you......

Well I wouldn't trade Anderson, Webb, Schuler, Huff, Mitchell, Mathison or Stockdale for anyone on NDSU's roster. UND has oodles of talent, more than NDSU even. Just a matter of them playing together. I like North Dakota in this game, they seem to like playing in front of the home crowd. Got my tickets yesterday, and I've never seen them lose (in person) to the Bison. Hopefully it is a good one................

UND/NDSU football commentary: You can't retire stupid
bincitysioux replied to Hayduke's topic in UND Nickname
I like this post. But, to me personally, North Dakota's one football national championship is more impressive than the hockey titles. Just my opinion. But I wouldn't trade either for the other. -
Yeah, like I said I don't follow recruiting for any sport all that closely. When I think North Carolina, I think basketball, not football.............
-
Shows what I know................. Like I said, I'm not much on recruiting...................... Top 20 in the USA is more impressive that top 20 in NC............... Sorry, Braden Hanson...........................................
-
No disrespect to Hanson intended, but is North Carolina a hotbed of football? Top 20 QB in North Carolina doesn't do much for me. I'm sure he has talent, or North Dakota wouldn't have been looking at him. My concern is that we've had a long line of solid QB's here, that didn't transfer in at the last minute..............
-
I'm not much of guru when it comes to recruiting on this site, but isn't a bit of a bad sign that we have had two consecutive years of bringing in a trasfer at the QB position? Everybody loved Bradely last January, now everybody loves Hanson this January....................
-
NDSU looks very good this year. North Dakota will have their hands full with NDSU, but talent-wise, we are actually probably better on paper. It is just a matter them getting their heads together and playing like they did in the 2nd half of last season rather than how they've played in the first half of this season.

I've never understood the infatuation with the Red Pepper.................. I'd take a microwavable Flatlander/Pugsley's Taco Grinder over one of their's any day.....................................

There is one hotel attached to the stadium, the Canad Inn, which is very nice and has a few bars inside of it. There is also another new hotel that is just about to open in the stadium parking lot, a Springfield Marriot, I believe. Tailgaiting goes on all day in the parking lot.

Why stop there? Hockey is a "fringe" sport that is only "regional" in popularity. I say drop every sport.

I think just excelling in basic fundamental areas are a huge key to any success at the low-major or mid-major level. Box-out better, don't just stand flat-footed under the rim when an opponent misses and wait for the ball to come to you. Make free-throws. This is such a huge part of the game that seems to get overlooked. You don't have to be taller, more athletic, or faster than the opposition to make a free throw. I watched Davidson beat Kansas last night. Davidson is shooting freethrows at 80% for the season as a team. I'd think that plays a small part in them being a quality mid-major program for many years. It certainly doesn't hurt. They were 11-20 in the UMKC game and lost by 3. And play better defense. The 2nd half defense agasin Sac St. was miserable.

I also shake my head at foolish comments like this.

I agree that that is irritating, but you have to consider that he works in the Fargo media market on the flagship station for NDSU. At the very least, his affiliation as UND's play-by-play guy causes him to at least mention UND a couple times a week on his show. When Dan Hammer held Michaels' position at the same radio station, he also pandered to the NDSU faithful, and at that time it was the flagship station for UND. I found that much more irritating. Jack Michaels is 10 times the play-by-play guy that Dan Hammer was. I'm thankful UND was able to work something out with him.
