  1. They do have live stats over at greatwestconference.org
  2. New Jersey Tech upset Utah Valley in OT in the first game today, so they will await the winner of UND-UTPA for the title game tomorrow.
  3. AAARRGGGGHHHH!! You have to pay to watch the freaking Great West Tournament...............
  4. Looks like there will in fact be a webcast. 2:30 tip-off today............
  5. Man, Tony, who took a leak in your cheerios this morning? I suppose if you really need to actually "see" one, I could send you a picture of myself. It's almost like you are implying that the only possible way for a UND grad to pursue a career in agriculture is to either unwittingly or just by dumb luck to have a farm or ranch passed on to them from an older generation. You act as if there is some bulletin board at NDSU's student union posting opportunities for the annual Ag Econ grads to pick and choose which operation they will take over. Sorry, it doesn't work like that. Nobody was getting huffy about the "whichever school is bigger must be better argument". Some just pointed out what a stupid argument that is. Utah Valley has a larger enrollment than Duke. Does that make UVU better? Apparently so in the eyes of one Northern Cass faculty member. That is all we were saying. Hell, a few posters here even pointed to the great Architecture and Pharmacy programs at NDSU as reason to make a case for which school is better. I know the "if you want to own the farm............" tag line is what set you off and it gets under the skin of NDSU people, and really that's why we throw it around. That's all. Just in good fun. But just for good measure, you'll be happy to know that a poorly educated, unproductive, half-assed, land-inheriting farmer like me does in fact have an NDSU grad on the payroll.
  6. Standard-Examiner (Utah newspaper) : OUR VIEW: North Dakota's offensive nickname
  7. Also, there is apparently no internet stream available for the GWC tourney................ At least UVU provided that much last season. I can't wait to be in the Big Sky..................
  8. Just to point out, the autobid for the CIT is only on the men's side. The women don't receive a bid to any post season tourney for winning the GWC. However, there is a women's tournament called the Women's Basketball Invitational. Roebuck has said that if they win the GWC tourney, UND may have a pretty good chance of being invited to that. Chicago St. and South Dakota participated in the WBI last year along with schools like Cleveland St., Idaho, Northern Colorado, and Wright St. just to name a few. UAB won it last year. Womens Basketball Invitational
  9. Fighting Sioux nickname hearing next week I pity any fool that would hire this guy Soderstrom to represent them in a court of law. Some random attorney, nor any court in the state of North Dakota does not have the authority to determine what meets NCAA requirements.
  10. Yeah, I bet you do.................... And by the way, I'm not "anti-nickname", I'm "Pro-UND".

    SBOHE

It seems to me that Spirit Lake is leading the charge among the nickname proponents, at least as far as this petition goes. How many members of Spirit Lake's Committee for Understanding and Respect have a connection to UND?
  12. Utah Valley has double the enrollment that either North Dakota or NDSU has. Just sayin'..............
  13. Agree............... Always nice to schedule an automatic W.....................
  14. Basically, you are exactly right DaveK. It doesn't matter if you graduated or attended the Univeristy. What really matters is do you care if the University is successful in every avenue including academics, research, and athletics? The question is, are you a "stakeholder"? My opinion is that a "stakeholder" has a vested interest in the University as a whole. I consider myself a "stakeholder" because I attendended and graduated from UND, I currently throw alot of cash toward UND athletics AND academics, and in return for my contributions I expect to see UND to be in a position to be a leader in both the athletic and academic areas that I contribute to. There are a plethora of people and businesses that contribute to UND that did not attend the University, and I suspect that they expect the same. You don't have to be a graduate to be stakeholder. But just because you are infatuated with a cartoonish charicature is not a valid reason to throw such storied programs like North Dakota hockey, football, and basketball under the bus like you are seemingly so willing to do. Do you really think Tony Hrkac would have scored fewer goals if he didn't have Chicago's logo on his crest? Do you really think that Jim Kleinsasser would not have out-run the NDSU secondary if we were not known as the Sioux? Do you really think that North Dakota would not have routed Michigan St. in the 1959 Ice Hockey title game if we were not known as the Sioux? I became a fan of the New England Patriots in the 1980's as a kid because I liked their uniforms and a couple of their players. I follow them to this day. I suspect that is about as far as your loyalties go toward the University of North Dakota. You are not a "stakeholder" in this issue and I feel that if you are a ND resident, it is unfortunate that someone like you could potentially have an impact on this if it comes to a vote.
  15. You are wrong. An abstract moniker lends nothing to the success of any of the programs. That comes from the players, coaches, and institutional support. Had the University never changed its name in 1930, the North Dakota Flickertails would still today have 7 Ice Hockey championships, 3 women's basketball championships, a football championship, and a $110 Million dollar hockey rink....................
  16. You sir, are an enigma..............
  17. I would think that a college with a medical school would have a quality nursing program..............
  18. We've all talked alot about a schollie being pulled from a current player. I don't know alot about Haugen's situation, but Goodman's situation reminds me alot of Tom Dryburgh's. He was often injured in just two seasons to the point where had to just hang it up. Maybe that is what will happen with Goodman........................
  19. Given Jackson's physical attributes, it is hard not to get excited about him. There have been some excellent wide-receivers to come through UND, but they have mostly been either speed guys, or possession guys that have been small in stature. Whether or not it is Jackson, it would be a huge asset to the team to have a big physical guy with good hands that runs good routes regardless of how fast he is................ I can't remember the last time we had a guy at WR that a QB could just toss it up to in single coverage and be confident that the receiver had a good chance at coming down with it. That's what has hurt us the last couple years. When Freund, Manke, Bowenkamp, and Klosterman were playing QB over the last decade, they were real accurate throwers that IMO could take advantage of situtions that Landry, Goska, and Bradley could not......................
  20. I had hoped that the NDSU game would have sparked interest for the students in UND basketball, and now I hope this game will do the same. I wasn't there, but listening on the radio and watching the replay of the game, the atmosphere reminded me of my time at UND in the mid-90's. It was alot of fun to be at basketball games then. This team has struggled immensely for various reasons the last several years, but at the very least the last two seasons of home games have been an exciting brand of basketball to watch. I wish the students especially and the casual local GF sports fans would appreciate that. Hopefully they can be competitve in the Big Sky because having something to play for obviously means alot in GF. I'm really looking forward to next season with Big Sky play and a consistent schedule. Knowing that the conference schedule will provide at least 5 home Saturday games all season, I'm really thinking of getting season tix.
  21. Sounds like a great a game. I had to leave the radio with about 5:00 left.................... Looked there should have been no question on whether the final shot got off in time. I have to ask, what on earth could have possibly motivated such a great student turnout today? Looks like there were probably more there today than there have been COMBINED at all the home games this season.
  22. Doesn't appear to be. Only on cable or FTA tonight
  23. Last week of March..........
  24. I don't care what the uniforms look like as long as there are student-athletes from the University of North Dakota wearing them..................................
