Was under the assumption the whole "natural rival" thing would get blown up. Idaho/Idaho State, etc.
-
By then they would already know their fate. I would also say they wouldn't even play year two without the big gift in hand during year one. Gotta let em try if they want. No different than any other program fighting to stay alive on campus. If BF and his boss Irle can justify throwing away two million dollars a year on women's hockey, they can also justify letting baseball try to fundraise for its life.
-
Swap UNC and Idaho State in that North/South layout and it looks good.
-
They will get the first million, IMO. The next 12 is going to be the issue.
-
If I am reading between the lines correctly, they are giving them a year or so grace period to raise initial money, all the while showing their progress towards the ultimate goal of 13 million. Asking them to raise the full 13 million in 4 months is a little ridiculous.
-
That their all-in season ticket costs are not too different than LSU's.
-
What they are charging for football tickets is outrageous when you factor in all the TM fees. That is great they can get it now but the crash is going to be all-time when reality sets in with the FB program. NDSU is going to be counting on that money every year and there is no way they can continue at this pace. Have they every shown a percentage increase to you guys over the past 10 years?
-
Because he needs another 1.5 million (roughly) next year that he kicked onto Mark Kennedy. Cut it all now and be done like he is trying to do with the rest of the campus. He is pushing this "do it the right way...now" philosophy, which is outstanding. But even he is scared to kick out the big elephant in the corner of the room and hides behind Title IX. Cutting 700K from those two sports is a joke.
-
Would people probably agree now that cutting those two was the easy way out and really didn't achieve what Schafer has been preaching? Schafer has told everyone that major, deep cuts are being done now to get the University back in line with it's mission/finances, etc. Apparently, that was only true for the rest of campus or he would have told them to cut more sports or at least one's with a budget.

That same man was the one who pushed hard for Buning's hire, along with TOK. They both made damn sure that Bollinger didn't get the job and thus hired the disaster that was Buning. Essentially, Phil was cleaning up his own mess.
-
Grady also took two classes last summer before the start of his freshman year. He should be fine once he takes a couple more classes this summer.
-
The baseball team wanted it for those reasons. The SDSU and NDSU coaches wanted it for those reasons. But a couple people higher up than them couldn't get along so UND kept flying all over the country instead and eventually got their program cut because their budget was too high.
-
Like I have said before, don't underestimate the Baseball team. Very smart, very loyal, and successful are three traits of their alumni. I understand the issues with climate, everyone does. But, let's see what they come up with. If it's not enough, oh well, at least they fought.

Correct. Unfortunate turn of events for Ross. He would have been a good player for UND.
-
Per my source, UND decided to offer Windfeldt and thus gave Haeg a preferred walk on. Recruiting is a crap shoot.
-
Not too surprising once the KFGO media group lost the NDSU media rights. He was immediately a free agent. Great news for UND now that he won't be doing dual UND/NDSU roles from Fargo.
-
Let's just move on guys. He threw out an idea, it didn't make it up the flag pole, no harm.

If these posts are representative of how we want our athletic department run, then Faison and Irle should be given lifetime contracts cause they are doing an outstanding job of it.
-
So the point of being in the Big Sky is to try and be good at 4 sports and suck at 10? There are only four sports that bring in any money at all - Football, Basketball's and Volleyball. What Faison and Queen Irle are doing right now is what I said ^^^. Problem is the "revenue" sports aren't taking first, either. If that's the goal....

Lotsa sizzle in this one. This is the beginning of the end for that regime, IMO. Faison had ZERO to do with the fundraising for the HPC, which we all know is pretty much the hardest part of getting a private facility built. You can do anything you want if you got the money. Mike Mannausau did the heavy lifting on that one since day one. You want to thank somebody for UND having the HPC? Thank the Champions Club, who is on their own and relied up on heavily by the athletic department. Sadly, with very little help from said athletic department.

Scholarships are maxed out. Coaches salaries, recruiting budget, home game budget, apparel are all lacking huge in basketball.

Plus, what is the cost of a full schollie for a student-athlete from Europe?
